And like Aquila, I'm an unorthodox, skeptical, Christian.

I just posted something on my facebook the other day that ensued in a flame war which echoed A's statement of "...in the SF environs, any non-Judeo-Christian 'spirituality' is considered off-limits for any sort of criticism..."

What I asked on FB was "Why is it that Eckhart Tolle and The Secret and Buddhism and other such 'spiritual' trendiness seems to be so criticism proof, yet Jesus is like the plague in New Age circles?"

BTW, I'm NOT an evangelical Christian, but I've found that by temporarily becoming one when I'm around New-Age people, it scares them off like a bucket of holy water on a vampire. I just start quoting bible verses and they RUN for the nearest exit...it's AWESOME!!!

Get behind me, you satanic hippies!!!Donavanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16456563970169360398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203082776419426855.post-74984601597274888862009-08-24T23:50:30.717-07:002009-08-24T23:50:30.717-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Donavanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16456563970169360398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1203082776419426855.post-41101700970535605202009-08-23T10:52:08.310-07:002009-08-23T10:52:08.310-07:00No, thank you, Aquila. I was going to email you the link to the EAS...CMC,

I was going to email you the link to the EAST BAY EXPRESS story on Cafe Attitude, but as usual, you're on top of Bay Area cultish doings.

Although I don't share your hardline atheism (I'm a somewhat unorthodox Christian), I respect the fact that you're consistent, and have the balls to go after faux-Eastern and New-Age sects. It seems that in the SF environs, any non-Judeo-Christian "spirituality" is considered off-limits for any sort of criticism, which is one reason why these groups get away with murder (sometimes literally). I suppose the parallel in the political world would be the outrageous double standards the media applies to implied death threats between our current POTUS and his predecessor.

Thanks for your informative and entertaining bloggings.

AAquilanoreply@blogger.com
