Look at the story below:
Many Dutch Prepare For 2012 Apocalypse
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, June 23 (UPI) -- Thousands of people in the Netherlands say they expect the world to end in 2012, and many say they are taking precautions to prepare for the apocalypse.
The Dutch-language de Volkskrant newspaper said it spoke to thousands of believers in the impending end of civilization, and while theories on the supposed catastrophe varied, most tied the 2012 date to the end of the Mayan calendar, Radio Netherlands reported Monday.
This is total NewAge bullshit. NewAgers are the group who look to the Mayan calendar for signs of these things - I mentioned the Harmonic Convergence was based on the Mayan calendar already. NewAgers have been predicting 2012 as the end of the world for several years now (I didn't just pluck that date out of the air for this post) and this sense of gloom-and-doom (which has irrationally infected a huge number of the American public as well) is all a part of that.
If you guys don't start understanding the influence NewAge fanatacism is having on things - and start standing up to it - they just might create a self-fulfilling prophecy; and that, my friends, will be your (and your kids) ass. NewAgers can - and will - make our nightmares come true:
They've already made mine.
