And Away We Go,...
This is DISGUSTING. It's UN-AMERICAN. And it's profoundly WRONG. What does the Gay community think it's engaged in now? What in the hell do they think they're doing? Whatever it is, it's not not going to get them anything but WAR. I'm an atheist and even I know that. Do they really think that by picking on religious WOMEN, they're going to bring anybody else around? Sure, they can show up in numbers at Hollywood's El Coyote Restaurant and intimidate a little old lady - after she gave a lousy $100.00 to Prop. 8 because her church asked her to - but what about the rest of US? Do they really think BLACK PEOPLE are going to their bidding? I WON'T. Do you really think anybody else will? FUCK YOU. YOU PEOPLE HAVE GONE INSANE.
You ASSHOLES are now striking at the most profound questions of WHO AMERICANS ARE AS A PEOPLE - AND THIS IS NOT WHO WE ARE. THIS ISN'T THE SOVIET UNION. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT - AND THIS COUNTRY WILL FIGHT YOU - AND IT WILL BE RIGHT. HOW DARE YOU.
YOU PEOPLE HAVE SERIOUSLY LOST THE PLOT NOW.
Hat Tip: Neocon Express
If you think this is un-American, I hope you complain just as loud when religious groups and rightwingers boycott companies like Disney and Levis for having gay-friendly policies. And I hope you criticize conservative activists when they try to get TV shows canceled or musicians banned from the radio for sharing the same political views.
ReplyDeleteAs I see it, it's a free country. And if they customers at this restaurant to want to go there any more because the manager supported a campaign that slandered them and took away their rights, they are free to do that.
Business owners can be anti-gay if they want to be, but they shouldn't expect their gay customers to keep giving them their business.
Donna,
ReplyDeleteThe holes in your reasoning are huge:
People can have a billion reasons for not voting for Prop. 8 that have nothing to do with liking or disliking gay people. To basically hold this woman hostage - a woman shaking so much she had to be literally supported by her family - is a travesty. The single-minded focus put on this issue, which the Gay community has framed incorrectly from the start (which is why many black people voted against it) is crazy: that's their own fault and now they're on some kind of crazy Jihad against everybody for it. I hate hypocrisy and this shit takes the cake.
If you ask me, this is just part and parcel of the whacked out NewAge thinking that's steeped in fascism - what else could it be to make these people think they have the right to do this woman - one woman - this way? This isn't what people do in a "free country". if it was so free, her $100.00 wouldn't matter to anyone - and I'm not the first to point out nobody's going to where I'm from (South Central, Los Angeles) and demanding anybody do a damn thing and they, for sure, did way more than this poor woman ever did. It's hypocrisy - and cowardice - and nothing more. Just going for the "low-hanging fruit" because they (Gays) don't have the balls to deal with the real issues.
You're right: nobody has to go to this restaurant, but that's not what's happened here: this is going too far. And word is getting around - fast. Nobody's going to tolerate this.
This woman isn't anti-Gay, and to keep suggesting she is, when we both know Gays are anti all kinds of shit, is just a warped projection that screams you're living outside of reality. If you can't even get the issues correct, then what the hell are you protesting for? I'll tell you:
So, just like during the AIDS scare, you stupid bastards can blame your sense of insecurity on everybody else. Well, sorry, but it doesn't work anymore.
This is wrong.
Do they really think BLACK PEOPLE are going to their bidding?
ReplyDeleteI love you so much. SO MUCH. I'm going to donate another $100 to you for this.
I like the comment, "Why they are so hellbent on imposing their notion of morality on everyone else?"
ReplyDeleteDuh, I don't know; the impulse is completely foreign to me. Probably the same thing that makes you think it's OK to tar and feather some old lady who gave $100 to her church, to say nothing of destroying a business associated with her because you don't agree with her notion of morality.
Uh, Lupo, you're misreading this post:
ReplyDeleteI'm the atheist DEFENDING the religious lady.
Apology already accepted.
