Give Away Scientology Memberships On Game Shows

Getting a Vet all cleaned up to join a cult is a pretty shitty thing to do. But, by focusing only on this physical "transformation" and not the mental mindfuck they've pushed this poor schmuck into, people are patting themselves on the back and calling it applause.

It's creepy, is what it is,...

  1. What I don't get is this:

I'm sure cleaning him up boosted his morale considerably -- for most people it does -- just like helping him out is, well, helpful (poor guy probably does have some issues -- bet they are related to being down and out, so helping people get over being down and out isn't such a bad thing).
But why does it have to come with the baggage of "join us"? Why not just help somebody out without asking them to join anything?

Trouble is: with all of these groups operating, it usually means average citizens are less inspired to do that helping; thus leaving people at the mercy of cults.

And maybe lose the hair coloring -- but that's a personal bias on my part, so there's that.

*I have seen some people in AA who do buck their own system, and just help people out, but it is really creepy cult-like the way the vast majority act: and when you witness it, you start to question just how successful that program really is in helping people get their lives back (seems they trade one obsessive thing for another). One of the many issues I have with addiction treatment.
