An Open Letter To Bernie Goldberg From The Paranoid

So, Bernie, you think black people have a problem.

But, unlike so many others, you're a Jew and so saying it nicely:

I agree - if you don't count how it IS real now - there's no denying it:

400 years of "slavery and segregation" (repeat that number to yourself) can appear to have done a number on us, when we've only been free - of just the legal part - for (think of this:) less time than I've been alive.

Personally, I'd think, you'd be more understanding.

I mean, while lecturing blacks, you make no mention of what it means that whites - who stole and kept all the money - are (and have been) so completely unaffected, by this massive festering scar on American lives, even today.

The impression I get from your piece, probably along with a lot of other blacks, is that American whites must be a remarkably bright and sensitive people.

Not into wrenching their garments like the Germans, huh, Bern?

You also don't mention how blacks are supposed to make up the financial difference - or compartmentalize the theft of their ancestor's labor - in such a short period of time.

I mean, our family's enslaver's families are all blowing our money, right before our eyes, on whatever they see fit.

Is that a meal any Jew would think "kosher" to swallow?

Perhaps it's because - even with your long history in television news and covering Civil Rights - you never bothered to make anything like 12 Years a Slave, and so, have also never fully dealt with what whites have done to put themselves in such a cushy position.

And this, while blacks have been coping with it - including it's aftereffects - for fully 400 years (which, like slavery itself, most whites can barely comprehend, though they mourn JFK's 50 year assassination anniversary - and expect others to mourn - as some epic event in the life of the nation). Murder was (and, as Trayvon represented to many, still can be) our daily lives.

No, Bernie, a "black bird singing in the dead of night," you are not.

But I will never forget The Holocaust - like the guy in the movie, it lasted for 12 years - though slavery went on, practically forever, for American blacks.

And that guy, recently discovered, with a treasure trove of the Nazi's stolen paintings?

He should give them back - right, Bernie?

Look, I don't want to press you, Pops.

Seeing how you're a Jew - I, too, can afford to be generous:

By assuming you'll get around to addressing all that, ASAP,...

  1. I think Mr. Goldberg is missing a point (or a couple):

We have already witnessed how black conservatives are treated...by both sides.
And we have already witnessed how black liberals are treated...by both sides.

And yes, there is indeed an element of race going on -- this isn't hard to see; I don't know why people don't. It also isn't hard to see how this is a problem that needs to be confronted for once and for all (and preferrably in a peaceful and rational manner).

(I speak from purely selfish motives here -- like everybody else on this planet, I've got to live here.)

*and I have had my fill of Kennedy assassination fixation -- enough is enough
**for much the same reason I question the Germans never ending sackcloth and ashes -- apologizing is a good thing, making sure not to do something like that again even better, but to take it to a length where you become in your obsessive demonstrations of your own guilt a sort of martyr yourselves (which some Germans do) is setting up for a backlash that will not be pleasant to watch -- somewhere there has to be a healthy coming to terms that benefits everyone; to not take it is to fall right back into the same trap that caused the problems in the first place...imhao of course

  2. Maybe when you feel better you can go out and punch some little old Jewish lady right in the head.

  3. And while slavery is tied up in this (and thus your six inconvenient truths about slavery), that too isn't the crux of the problem, imhao:
The problem is that we Americans, and most assuredly our children and grandchildren if this keeps up, have been the victims of a vast amount of historical revisionism (and just plain lying and obfustication) so as to not have a really good grasp of just exactly what our real history has been (hence the children of immigrants being a bit blind sided and bewildered, and then angry, about this entire race thing and why it is such a problem that they have to deal with it too, which assuredly as the moment they stepped off Ellis they did, whether they wanted to or not).
This has led to many of the problems we have and can't come to grips with in our society today -- it's ripping us apart by the seams right now, or at least it certainly is looking like it will.

So while Mr. Medved may have some points (and I understand where he's coming from, being the child of immigrants who can't understand why they have to partake of a fight they feel is necessarily theirs), I do not hesitate to say that he has missed the boat by nautical mile with the core of his commentary (and has helped along a few of the revisionist tales himself, perhaps unwittingly, which is the biggest pity here).

  4. Evi,

    Slavery was wrong.

It matters that you're the first of Ann's "losers" to admit that.

I do not discount that it was destructive to the black community.

Wow - another great truth revealed! What's in the water over there?

But victimization will not resolve your problems.

Who said that's what's happening? I said I was challenging YOU. Funny how you morons keep missing that. I think it's on purpose.

Are you suggesting Crack your lack of success is solely do to racism and racists putting you down.

Did I say that? You've been reading me a long time - did I say that?

Or did I say you hang out with racists, and so start to talk like one yourself?

You are starting to sound like this guy.

And you are starting to sound like a (dumb) cow,...

  5. Evi - one more thing:

Damn, I am blowing all that money I made off your ancestors Crack. Oh wait, I am not.

Yes, you are. This country grew rich on slavery.

    You lie to yourself.

  7. Hey, Marcus Garvey, haul your lazy crippled black ass back to Cote d'Ivoire and see how well you do when confronted with real difficulties, not these made up first world issues you whine about over here.
