It's nice to see people are catching on to the difference between cults and their mere (but still torturous and harmful-to-business) offspring - cultish thinking. Why do we live with this? How have we - Americans - grown accustomed to it?
I used to try and explain that distinction, and the experience, all the time. Nice to see we're getting somewhere. (But when will we make a connection between corporate cultish thinking and our lousy business climate? I don't want to work in these places, with anyone into the mind set, or buy their products.) It's also nice to see people are catching on to The Landmark Forum finally:

That employment saga sounds vaguely familiar -- all the way down to the New Age lady. Mine preached a raw foods diet, some form of tai chi excercise something or other -- she "greeted" the dawn (no word on if the dawn ever greeted her back), and that government needed to be bigger to help people and the environment more, but the same government was killing us all with chemicals....

And our boss was all about positive thinking, inspirational pep talks about feeling good meant working good, for the good of the company, and stretching (and not smoking, tsk, tsk)...and got mad at a guy once and punched out a window.
I think I was up to 2 packs a day by the time I left there.
I can relate.
