It Was Written In The Stars

Well, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the so-called "D.C. Madam" has gone down in court - I mean, been found guilty of prostitution on all counts. But, of course, that's not the kind of story that interests TMR. No, no, no - this is the stuff that makes this black blog sing:

The bitch is a psychic!! The bitch is a psychic!! The bitch is a psychic!! Ding-Dong! Ding-Dong! Go Team Go!!! Go Team Go!!! Her ass not freed/is what I need! Another one bites the dust! Ooooh Yeeeeaaaaa!

Oh, man, that feels good.

And, oh, yes she is - Deborah Jeane Palfrey is a psychic and, like all psychics, this self-described "spiritual" person (who her friends described as "borderline") originally made her mark by setting out to destroy a man's life because, obviously, he got too close to the nutcase. Check this shit out:

Palfrey got a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., in 1979, according to the student records office. She moved to San Diego and, in 1988, met Thomas Czech, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Vietnam.

He remembered how she talked on the first date about psychic readings, an apparent calling of hers that would haunt him.

Czech said they dated a few times and then he got married to another girlfriend. Palfrey, he said, was "very, very upset." Palfrey said he was already married when she met him and that he lied about it, a charge he denies.

She began calling incessantly, periodically showing up on his doorstep and writing him long letters about how she was psychic and knew they were meant to be together, he said.

Whenever he would move, Palfrey would find his address and contact him, Czech said. Once, she drove to his mother's farm in Idaho looking for Czech and got angry when he wasn't there, he wrote in court documents.

"It was always the same dialogue -- she was following her psychic readings," said Czech, 59, who retired in 1997 after 31 years in the Marines. "She said, 'Your destiny is with me.' "

Her letters soon took a frightening turn, he said, describing how he would die a terrible, lonely death if he wasn't with her.

In 1989, Czech obtained a restraining order in San Diego County preventing Palfrey from contacting him or his relatives. He told the judge at the time that his pregnant wife was in jeopardy of losing their baby because of the stress.

In response, Palfrey wrote to Czech's lawyer that if the order proceeded he would "see no mercy from me in forthcoming criminal and civil petitions being prepared against him and his wife," according to the court records.

A year later, when the order expired, Czech said Palfrey sued him in small claims court for the amount it cost her to drive to Idaho and confront his mother. That case was thrown out, but the harassment continued, Czech said.

Palfrey's mother called Czech around 1993 after he had moved to Virginia Beach, he said, pleading with him to help her daughter because her life was falling apart. Palfrey herself soon showed up in Virginia, he said.

"I kept telling her, 'I'm married,' and she said, 'It doesn't matter.' " Czech said. "She kept saying she had to bring this to closure."

Palfrey last contacted Czech seven years ago when he was on a beach in Monterey, he said. She called him on a cell phone he had recently purchased.

"That blew me out of the water," he said. "It's been such a nightmare that in all sincerity I'd just as soon go through Vietnam again than deal with her."

Ain't that something?

Well, never fear, Mr. Czech, hopefully none of us will ever be hearing any more about Ms. Palfrey's predictions of "destiny" for a nice long time:

She's facing 55 years in prison - and I hope she gets every day of it.
