Some people are upset about this (conservatives) but I don't think it went far enough, leaving out the part about how conservatives will ostracize you (and the money dries up) when you - a free black American - don't play exactly the role they assign:
Speaking from experience, first they give you a hard time when you come in, which is a test to see if you're down. But - when they eventually go off the rails - they also expect you to stick with them, even though they don't listen to your warnings they're acting like racists. And you got with them to escape racism. And now they're attacking you for speaking. The white guys. Attacking a black. And they see nothing wrong with it. They're proud of it, even.
That's a problem.
Also, for people always trying to claim they freed the slaves, not only are conservatives pretty open about either being disinterested about our fate, or just not caring about blacks at all (or even wanting to kill us) they're also screwy in their collective conspiracy-theory-filled head, shallow as a wading pool, and childish as the kids who get wet in it. And I can say, without a doubt, the people who actually freed the slaves, fought Jim Crow, and led the Civil Rights Movement, would be embarrassed to be associated with them.
