Law Enforcement's Image Problem Is Kind Of Timeless

There's a reason "law and order," and "traditional values," don't mean much in America.
"[Sheriff Willis McCall] shot two [blacks in custody] — one died — on a remote road in north Lake while bringing them from state prison to the county jail after learning that their convictions had been overturned by the Supreme Court."

What Americans mean by "law and order," and "traditional values," is the reason.

You may not think of Connecticut as a slave state, but in the mid 1700s, New London County held more slaves than anywhere else in New England.
