You'd think he'd have other things to do in the middle of battle than order pizza. Or dial wrong numbers.
also, long distance is expensive. did he have a calling card?
I say the whole story is Bullshit.
Richter, read the fucking article - it's real. He had his cell phone on him, and his folks on speed dial, and it got bumped during a battle, etc.
