Well Britain's Kate Hopkins took the Glenn Reynolds position on weight last night, and got the kind of treatment Reynolds should've gotten from more people than me. The public called Hopkins "vile" and "ignorant" - two words I'd definitely apply to Reynolds - while other conservatives continue to let Reynolds assume he's there for blowjob practice only.
After that last election - and links to NewAge bullshit like laughter yoga - don't your jaws hurt?
Speaking of weight and image, can I be the first male to say (many) women appear to have mental problems? I mean, how can it take anyone a lifetime to "come to terms" with their body? I "accepted" mine when I first looked in a mirror,...as a child. Women are crazy - and undiagnosed crazy at that. The kind of crazy they want to force on everyone else.
If you're normal, the shit's exhausting:
Fuck telling newspapers about it, they're mentally ill and need help.
You know how (some) people are happy/surprised when they discover blacks can be "articulate"? What do they think when they hear whites, like those above, who can't explain themselves?
I'd really like to know.
But, of course, I knew this already:
"You were right to be skeptical about hippies all this time -- they're all peace and love, but give them one charismatic dude in a loud shirt and they'll do whatever he says."
That's right, Charlie, so - News Flash! - I'm off to find a shirt sale,...
In fairness, women have become neurotic about their looks, but a lot of that has to do with the daily dose of brainwashing they get. If you're a woman, you're supposed to have a certain "look". It's shallow bullshit (and Dave Chapelle nailed it in a comedy sketch), but it is there.
ReplyDeleteAnd now a lot of men (especially white guys) have bought into it, so vicious circle ahoy. A good friend of my husband's went dateless because he wouldn't "lower his standards" (all the while his romancing ability was pretty much nonexistent -- and had nothing to do with character or whether or not the girl even liked him, but everything to do with how close she approximated a Barbie doll (and while he was a nice guy and all, he was no Ken, not by a long shot, no matter how much he religiously worked out, which was also rather stupid imho...muscles only go so far really). Even snubbed a relatively decent looking girl -- who liked him! -- because she was "fat" (and she wasn't fat, just not a size 3; this from a man with jug ears and one eye lower than the other -- dude! wtf!).
I saw this front and center in the horse world -- the western and hunter equitation (judges the rider) and the dressage (not as much, but still there) are hell on a woman who doesn't fit the fashionable body type (which is tall, super leggy, model thin, no hips, no butt, big but not overly so boobies). If you aren't built like that it will haunt you. I watched a pretty damn good female rider get reduced to tears in a clinic with the "God" of hunters (and the guy is good and has since lightened up, now that he realizes too late that he created a monster) because she didn't have "the look" -- she wasn't fat, just short and stocky. Really, the woman rode well, why should it matter? But she wound up doing jumpers because in that it doesn't matter, just as long as you get over in the time allowed. It was bullshit -- she was talented and wanted to get better, and she'd paid the same amount of money as the princesses...and all she got as a take away was angst about her shape, which she could hardly change.
Ironically, I watched a girl who cleaned up (and had "the look") in hunters get told by a big name event trainer that if she really intended on switching to eventing she'd better "pack some muscle and some meat on those bones if you want to be able to get these hard charging eventers around" (eventing used to be called "the military", so you can see the different outlook right there).
