After watching "The Proposition", I'd always wondered what Ol' Nick Cave was trying to say to us, by writing this film, until today, when I read this:
"In Australia, indigenous deaths in custody are a catastrophe that rolls on as if nothing can stop it. I’ll refer you to Alison Whittaker: 'Despite 432 Indigenous deaths in custody since 1991, no one has ever been convicted. Racist silence and complicity are to blame.'”
I get it now: it's "No Country For Old Men" in the outback.
