This is not a picture of a black family coming to America.
This is not a picture of a black family in America.
The "master" could sleep with his female captives whenever he wanted - even if they didn't - and could sell anyone off who complained. That did not produce a family.
After slavery, blacks have been forming all sorts of relations we call "family" but it's almost impossible for them to be anything like white folks imagine, especially when plagued by an unknown African past, white blood we resent, enforced poverty, and sometimes unrelenting, and even unimaginable forces within institutions, like the law.
Now conservative whites have got it in their evil little hearts to try and make blacks abandon one another - from these only relations we've made - for their ambition to beat the Democrats, which they can only do if our community fractures.
