Ah Yes, NewAgers, This Is Where It Finally All Seems To Come Together: American Politics, Cannibalism, Human Sacrifice, And American Idol
"The obvious rejoinder to these points is that Jones supposedly brought this on himself by long ago making a mistake and signing a misguided petition about 9/11. Obviously, he made a mistake - and he admitted that. But even if you don’t accept that apology or admission of fault, the idea that him signing that petition means he’s worthy of removal is just a pathetic argument that highlights the most damning hypocrisies of all. For instance, are we really expected to believe that Jones signing one random petition is a bigger problem than, say, Geithner accepting free room and board for the industry he is supposed to be regulating?…"-- David Sirota, making a very good point about the Van Jones massacre - now let's get Tim Geithner! - in the usual self-defeating liberal bone-head manner, befitting his placement on The Huffington Post.

This Is A Great Show: I Don't Know What It's Called But It's Got "Cannibal" In The Title
"President Barack Obama's treasury secretary said Sunday he cannot rule out higher taxes to help tame an exploding budget deficit, and his chief economic adviser would not dismiss raising them on middle-class Americans as part of a health care overhaul.During his presidential campaign, Obama repeatedly vowed 'you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime.' But the simple reality remains that his ambitious overhaul of how Americans receive health care -- promised without increasing the federal deficit -- must be paid for.
'If we want an economy that's going to grow in the future, people have to understand we have to bring those deficits down. And it's going to be difficult, hard for us to do. And the path to that is through health care reform,' [Treasury Secretary Timothy] Geithner said. 'We're not at the point yet where we're going to make a judgment about what it's going to take.'"
-- Philip Elliott, with the kind of news that makes this political-watcher stand up and applaud - Bravo! Bravo! Brilliant Performance! - because only the Democrats can get away with bringing the curtain down like this, with reviews by The Associated Press.
Yep, that's my boy!!!

Rangel's A Black Guy Too: No Touchie Touchie!!!
"Here’s a tip for President Obama: Next time you excoriate tax cheats, try to keep Rep. Charles Rangel’s name out of the discussion.Somehow, it doesn’t further your case. . . . Rangel, of course, knows a thing or two about offshore tax shelters: He’d been operating one for years.
The congressman had to fork over nearly $11,000 in back taxes last year after The Post reported that he failed to disclose more than $75,000 in rental income on his Dominican Republic villa.
Plus, he’s under investigation by a House committee for allegedly helping a company preserve its offshore tax loophole — in exchange for a million-dollar gift to a school named in his honor. Though perhaps that’s not exactly what Obama meant when he gushed that the problems with tax havens 'have been highlighted' by Rangel, among others.
Rangel wasn’t the only tax dodger lauded by Obama. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, too, won praise for 'taking far-reaching steps to catch overseas tax cheats.' Takes one to know one, we guess.
Geithner, after all, was confirmed despite failing to pay, until nominated, some $43,000 in self-employment taxes.
Obama would be wise to tuck those two safely out of sight when he starts talking, as he did Monday, about paying taxes as 'an obligation of citizenship.'"
-- Editorial, talking tough - like anyone's going to call Team Obama on the mat for anything as obvious as blatant hypocrisy and lying - in The New York Post.

Solution: Blame Republicans Because You Suck
"According to several sources involved in the deliberations, [Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner, above] had come to the conclusion that the strategies he and his team had spent weeks working on were too expensive, too complex and too risky for taxpayers. They needed an alternative and found it in a previously considered initiative to pair private investments and public loans to try to buy the risky assets and take them off the books of banks. There was one problem: They didn't have enough time to work out many details or consult with others before the plan was supposed to be unveiled."
-- Neil Irwin and Binyamin Appelbaum, on Obama's financial guru's economic version of "Hillarycare," in The Washington Post.
