NewAge: Dashed By The Highway
She reeked of incense, idolized hippies, and sang songs from the 60's; she also said (in typical NewAge fashion) "I'm going to be victorious. All rising" - a delusion which was surely encouraged by her more-than-a-bit-weird NewAge mom - all leading Simon to call her "a bit possessed" and suggest she might choose the "normal" route in life (which caused her to flip out as NewAgers will when they don't get their way) and now, tragically, there's this:
"The battered body of Alexis Cohen, 25, was discovered along a road in Seaside Heights about 4 a.m. by two passersby, authorities said. Paramedics fought to save Cohen's life before she was rushed to Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J., where she was pronounced dead about 6:35 a.m. 'It appeared she sustained multiple injuries as a result of a motor vehicle hitting her and leaving the scene'..."
So much for the power of belief.
UPDATE:
"A New Jersey man was arrested Sunday and charged with the death of former "American Idol" contestant Alexis Cohen during a hit-and-run accident at the Jersey Shore.
Daniel Bark, 23, of Toms River mowed down Cohen in his 2005 Mitsubishi Gallant and left the scene of the predawn Saturday accident, police said. He was charged with second-degree manslaughter, and faces 10 to 15 years in prison if convicted."
