"The reality is that all sorts of people are involved in cults. One of the few common denominators is that they were often recruited at a low point in their life.Miriam Stoppard, who writes a column called "Dear Miriam", answering a woman who suspects her husband has left her for a cult - "All my family and friends believe he's been brainwashed by a cult" - giving the kind of advice few want to deal with ("all sorts of people are involved in cults") because they're afraid to look in The Mirror.
If this group is a cult and he has joined them, don't underestimate the control it will have on him. A mind-control cult will seek to manoeuvre a victim's life to maximise their contact with cult members and minimise contact with people outside the group, especially those who oppose involvement, such as family and friends."
