"If I was a dictator, [NewAgers are] one of the first groups of people that I would eliminate."
How is it that I can start this blog in 1985, talking about the NewAge Movement and how much harm it's caused - not just to the world but to me personally: I've lost a marriage, family, friends, employment, you name it - but today, in 2025, saying NewAge is horrible has morphed into the punchline for a Bill Burr bit?
I'll tell you how: because I've put it all together and the Bill Burr's of the world haven't - and the fascists know it - so I, a black man, will catch hell for decades while Bill Burr doesn't, because Bill Burr's no threat. Consider, in his previous Saturday Night Live monologue, he said "white women" were who's responsible for the backlash to "woke":
"The way white women somehow hijacked the woke movement, generals around the world should be analyzing this....somehow, white women swung their Gucci-booted feet over the fence of oppression and stuck themselves at the front of the line."
Notice: he was analysing it, but (apparently) still hasn't put together those "white women" are NewAgers, putting themselves at the head of the line that's supposed to be for me, but using it to bury me, instead. Not only for noticing but saying something about it. It's truly remarkable.
Remarkable because, if you put Burr's observations with those of Norman Finkelstein, about all the trouble "woke" has been causing for minorities, then you can start to understand the authoritarian era were in, and not only how it got started but by who. It was the actions of NewAgers, already wrongly cancelling people like me, who brought us the authoritarianism of Donald Trump.
Conspiracy theorists are suggesting the CIA is using AI chat bots to keep Americans from analyzing things online, but why would that be necessary - or realistic - when the nation's already embraced a long-running religion that's been keeping Americans from thinking for the last 20 years, resulting in an American Civil Rights Movement that, today, is used to defend white South Africans?
I don't talk too often on the blog, because A) I think it's pompous, and B) I don't assume anybody is gonna understand (or care about) anything I say. As they used to say, I'm just 'too far gone.'
I guess, this is a test of that theory.
The U.S. government lied to its citizens, and the world, about wrecking the German economy by blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline. It's gotten Ukraine and its people blown to bits, and put us further in debt, over its NATO ambitions. And, it's been assisting in a genocide of the Palestinian people by Zionists - all things I'm against - as President Joe Biden, a millionaire, regularly interrupts my entertainments, to beg me for money, so "we can finish the job." How he assumes he roped me into all this, I will never know. That so many others endorse it, or passively go along with it, just tells me there's no reason for me to talk.
It's all a masquerade. Biden's being allowed to assumes he's Dean, and I'm Johnny, who just has to cope with whatever he does - drunk on power - in "a good year for apples."
Not so. I've never bought any of this, because I've seen through all of it. Just as I was 'black' in the early 90s, I was also 'woke' in the early 90s, as evidenced by a 1992 song I recorded called "Thank You," that featured a long sample of the late, great playwright August Wilson, specifically talking about "privilege." I spoke at the award-winning gay filmmaker Marlon Riggs' funeral. My boys also released a song against homophobia in 1992. So, when the concept of being 'woke' came back around in the 2020s, my first thought was amazement at how 'late' everybody else is. My next thought was - despite the constant stream of new hysterias - American culture is a slow-moving iceberg, that causes cataclismic damage whenever it finally meets reality head-on.
Just look at what it's done to Ben Shapiro, if you don't believe me: twisting that poor man into some kind of weird combination of Eddie Munster and a photo-negative Bobby Fischer.
Since 'woke' has re-emerged, life's mostly been a matter of protecting myself from flying "intellectual" debris, like Bill Maher's pontificating on the narrative developing around 'woke' - not the concept itself - which has been, both, frustrating and hilarious. I will remind you, again, of the frustrating part: back in the 90s, Bill Maher was the man who wouldn't let Christopher Hitchens explain to America that their beloved Bill Clinton is a rapist - basically, Maher's almost single-handedly responsible for us still having to endure the vile pronouncements of the murderously villainous conspiracy theorist, Hillary Clinton - but Bill Maher's being allowed to get away with criticizing 'woke'?
Isn't exposing walking contradictions, like Bill Maher, supposed to be why we have News programs? Instead, Maher's Real Time is considered the News program, proving the utter futility of anyone 'woke' talking, when we can see the barbarians are not at the gate: the gate is there to keep us in.
Professional critics, today, make their careers arguing gender, long after "Long Tall Sally" was released in 1955, by a "Tutti Frutti" embraced for wearing a pompadour, sequins, make-up, mascara, and fake eyelashes, to scream about s-e-x. This should give you some indication of how long they'll keep "debating" the ethics of our nation committing a genocide.
No one should miss that our dismissal, too, wasn't over anything political, but something also quasi-religious-in-nature - and fascist - though not Zionism.
Nor should they forget how few came to help. Unlike with Owens, who began commenting as someone married to a millionaire, and can now start parlaying that into even more money now, being brave enough to have an opinion - when you're a not into anything unscientific, pseudoscientific, or rooted in faith, and your name's not Neal deGrasse Tyson - is isolating, dangerous, and financially ruinous. TMR paid the price, while millionaires can profit.
Forget The Matrix series, it's much more accurate to call this is the Oprah/Burning Man Generation. Now completely lost, after decades of insisting not only that they were totally on top of things, but better than the rest of us. When they so-totally were not.
The difference, between TMR's world and their delusional one, is deadly.
TMR is "woke," and that means we've known this is fascism, and are learning how it really works.
But, it also means - for self-preservation - we've stopped even trying to fight it. Why? Because, as we said, we know how this fascism works. But "John Doe's got the upper hand."
And women, especially, just seem to love that guy,...
I woke up this morning,...thinking about “woke” - a lot.
Specifically about how, just like Americans stupidly do yoga without understanding it or the dangers, they're also approaching woke in the same ignorant, superficial way. It's a weakness.
And, though it’s fun to watch otherwise intelligent people babble on authoritatively about something they clearly have no clue about - as though they're the smartest people on Earth, coming to save us from,…what they don’t understand - if you're black, and been through the whole "woke" thing, it still leads to feeling like you’ve been born in the world's most stupid era.
Every American, by now, should know what “woke” means. Long story-short: Smart. Blacks have used the term since the 1940s. That the rest of America is just now waking up - to the term - speaks volumes about how cut-off most are, from we people they've supposedly lived side-by-side with for centuries. Who, they insist, don't deserve reparations, presumably because they know our lives so well. They watched a few Thomas Sowell videos, don't you know.
That, Ladies and Gentlemen, would be a woke observation.
I been "woke" to black life. In the '90s, the joke was, if you wasn’t by then, your dumb ass gonna stay nappin'. Remember "It's a black thang, you wouldn't understand?" It appears that may still be true.
Now it's in the hands of the NewAge, so I've had nothin' to do with it. Seriously, those people are crazy, and anything they're behind is a lie that goes right off the rails.
It's crazy that 30 years after I was creating my own Jan. 6, people like John McWhorter (who it's easy to imagine nappin') are still actually missing NewAge, to see "woke," butas a “religion.” He's like people who aren't aware Trump highjacked the Republican Party: the NewAge movement took over "woke" - that's the sick 2023 M. Night Shayamalan twist.
It's weird, watching this deeply religious country, terrified over the growth of a religion. After a lifetime of Christians insisting we, specifically, need to find “religion” as THE answer to all of our problems, now they fear a belief. In terms of NewAge - which is widely acknowledged as harmful - going "woke," I think it's fair to ask, “What’s changed?” Here's a quote to help explain things:
"If you've ever gone browsing in an occult bookstore (and you really should; it's like browsing in a science fiction bookstore, only the authors really believe the stories they're writing, or pretend to), you may have seen a shelf labeled "conspiracies" right alongside the sections marked "astrology" or "Tarot." People who write about fringe politics often miss the extent to which New Agers serve as a transmission belt, allowing ideas from the left, the right, and the counterculture -- not to mention more outré folks like the UFO buffs -- to slide from one subculture to another."
"Many of the progressive and holistic ideas that lie at the heart of today’s lifestyle Left, the environmental Left, and the New Age movement share numerous unquestioned philosophical, emotional, and practical similarities with the intellectual and cultural currents that fed into and sustained Nazism."
- Jonah Goldberg, Liberal Fascism
Those are white women who listen to Oprah, who, skeptics have noted "promotes the paranormal, psychic powers, new age spiritualism, conspiracy theories, quack celebrity diets, past life regression, angels, ghosts, alternative therapies like acupuncture and homeopathy, anti-vaccination, detoxification, vitamin megadosing, and virtually everything that will distract a human being from making useful progress and informed decisions in life." That's their bastardized, inside-out version of "woke." Just from that old list from 2008, I can pull out psychic powers, new age spiritualism, conspiracy theories, quack celebrity diets, homeopathy, and anti-vaccination as major social problems, today, that were helped along by Oprah. I'd add scarily bad journalism to the list, as well. Hell, I could make a really long list after how long she's been around. These people were destined to be a problem.
But, if they were clever, they would've screamed "Fraud!" because that would've been "woke".
"For [Oprah's] believers, self-knowledge is much less important than self-'love.' But the question they never seem to ask themselves is: If you wouldn't tell another person you loved her before you got to know her, why would you do that to yourself? Skipping the getting-to-know-you part has given us what we deserve: the Oprah culture. It's a culture where superstition is 'spirituality,' illiteracy is 'authenticity,' and schoolmarm moralism is 'character.' It's a culture where people apologize by saying, 'I'm sorry you took offense at what I said,' and forgive by saying, 'I'm not angry at you anymore, I'm grateful to you for teaching me not to trust shitheads like you.' And that's the part that should bother us most: the diminishing, even implicit mocking, of genuine goodness, and of authentic spiritual concerns and practices. Engagement, curiosity and active awe are in short supply these days, and it's sickening to see them devalued and misrepresented."
Anybody can see Oprah's 2016 Netflix show, Greenleaf, is a “megachurch melodrama” but can they see she's fucking with you?
Are they smart enough to know it's a cover for that other Netflix show, When They See Us?
You’d think it wouldn't be possible for deeply spiritual and religious people to make deeply dishonest and racist films - films anyone could debunk - but Oprah would. Because she's the Queen of "Woke."
"That would be the same Marianne Williamson who introduced the world to "A Course in Miracles" in her book, A Return to Love. And those would be the Miracles described by Jesus-channeler Helen Schucman, who, at the end of her life "cursed, in the coarsest barroom language you could imagine, 'that book, that goddamn book'," and whose life-partner sidekick, William Thetford, was oh-btw concurrently doing research on "Personality Theory" funded via the CIA's then-secret MK-ULTRA mind control program. Weird, I know. But hey, I'm just saying."
- Rage Boy, from The Mystic Bourgeosie, who noted Obama "actually said 'new age' twice in his inauguration speech"
It'd be amazing if no one didn't notice something.
"Woke" is knowing what was being let loose, in 2013, when Obama - who the NewAge called "The Lightbringer" - was handing out the U.S. Medal of Freedom like it was candy. And what effect such lousy recipients would have 10 years later.
2000: My song "Babylon.com" is released by Amoeba Records and Bomb Hip-Hop, which my black ass wrote as a warning to you bastards ("They're blowing the smoke of the new economy up your ass.") before these eternal racists decided to blame me for the results of NewAge - which we see in the life of Steve Jobs - where IS he, BTW?
