Bill Maher Had A Talk With The King Of Fairyland

 

 How will Gavin Newsom save the Democrats with a podcast, when he and Bill Maher think it’s Republican guests who are “controversial”? Like I've forgotten Newsom still hasn’t sincerely apologized to his constituents for having an affair with his Best Friend’s wife during his campaign (his Best Friend was also his Campaign Manager, who Newsom betrayed as he toiled on his behalf) and then lied about going to rehab afterward, before damaging his credibility even more (if that were possible) by marrying a kooky NewAge “empath” - a woman who is advertising the belief system that is the real “shit” John Fetterman describes, when he says "Democrats have to get their shit together."   

Newsom is my Governor, but he's so repulsive, I skipped watching his segment on Real Time altogether. 

   

 And who listens to John Fetterman after he accepted a silver pager from Bibi Netanyahu, each one, a symbol of a horrible war crime? The pager attack they’re so proud of didn't hit Hezbollah fighters, who stopped carrying pagers long before the attack, but ordinary people who use pagers, like truck drivers and nurses – and it also hurt and killed a lot of children. What's to celebrate?

 I don't know who is more brain damaged: the horrible cretin stealing Palestinian land, and celebrating his terrorist attack on it's innocent people, or the assholes honored to be accepting a memento from them. But - whichever it is - a podcast ain’t gonna cure what ails them.

 

So There It Is (And Here It Comes)

Ahem. This is what TMR calls "a teachable moment".

If the University of San Diego was on it's game, this student would already have received a visit from her school Dean, accompanied by the campus police, instructing her to pack her things and prepare to leave campus - she's done. As she was scurried to collect her belongings, the authorities would further inform the young woman she's not going "home" but immediately into the hands of the C.I.A., which is arranging for her to be handed over to Hezbollah or Hamas - her choice - because America's enemies must be targeted away from the mainland, if possible, so as not to interfere with the rhythm of daytime network and cable television.

Then, once the cops were sure they had made the right impression - the rebel's crying, paranoid, afraid for her well-being and that of her family, including the dog - the Dean would stop the charade and tell her, essentially, "don't be a sap" (the world's made of waaay too many saps) and for a start, take that stupid tablecloth from around your neck, you're in college.

Then the authorities would leave, shaking their heads.

As I see it, alone, it could be worth the price of tuition.

The Clean-Up Woman

"We inherited a law enforcement mentality where you punished the crime after it happened, instead of trying to prevent the crime...

We inherited a Lebanon with Syrian forces there for 30 years. Now, Syrian forces are out. There is a democratic government in power -- yes, being challenged by Hezbollah -- but the prime minister has survived and they've elected a president. The Lebanese army is out in the country for the first time. And they are friendly to the United States.

...Saddam Hussein dragged the region into a war and lost over a million lives. It dragged the U.S. into war. He murdered his own people, terrorized his neighbors and sought weapons of mass destruction. Today? You have a multiethnic, multiconfessional democracy that isn't threatening its neighbors.

So, I just don't understand this argument that it is so much worse. I always say, 'as opposed to what?' Syrian forces in Lebanon and no democracy. Saddam Hussein in power, threatening his neighbors and us. The Taliban in Afghanistan. The Palestinians and Israelis in an open intifada. That was the better Middle East? And it wasn't as if politics wasn't going on -- it was just going on in radical mosques and the madrassas, whereas now it is going on in the open. And yes, once in a while the Hamases of the world will win, but frankly I'd rather have them out in electoral politics trying to explain how they will fix the sewer system than running the streets with their faces covered, being the glorious resistance.

Is it done? No. But we'd have never gotten on this different path without Iraq."
