It's Over: The Tarot Cards Lose

A Broadway mogul whose actress wife attacked him in a widely viewed Internet video has been granted a divorce from her.

A judge granted Philip Smith a divorce from Briton, Tricia Walsh-Smith yesterday on the grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment.

Walsh-Smith lashes out against Smith in the tearful and furious YouTube video, which has attracted more than 3 million hits.

That means Walsh-Smith must leave their posh New York apartment within 30 days and Smith, the multi-millionaire president of The Shubert Organization, the largest theater owner on Broadway, must pay her just £325,000."

"Cruel and inhuman treatment"? That doesn't sound like the NewAge promise of becoming loving and peaceful to me,...but, then, it never does. And her psychics got the outcome wrong as well.

Sigh.

NewAgers: Birds of a feather.

Tricia Walsh-Smith: NewAger To The Core

I told you I was going to follow the case of Tricia Walsh-Smith, the YouTube Divorce Lady who portrayed herself as a peace-loving innocent betrayed - here's an update on all we've learned since then:

She uses Tarot cards to determine her fate and those of others - and to get revenge.

She consults psychics for the same purpose.

She's written a play called "Bonkers" and has sang that that's what she is - but, as far as we know, that knowledge hasn't driven her to seek help from anyone but those psychics.

She threatened to tattle to the gossip columnists if her husband didn't bankroll the play she was producing.

She's denigrated her husband's sexual prowess.

She threatened to eat her husband's manhood for breakfast.

She said "If I [made the threat] I was channeling something," which makes her a channeler as well.

She's an actress who's been over-emoting on the stand, to the point where the judge has asked her to stop, prompting her husband's lawyer to question her acting abilities.

She's clearly used sex to get ahead.

She considers herself a feminist.

She's stereotypically railed against "male chauvinist pigs."

She's called for "woman warriors" to rally behind her (which, dutifully, they have.)

Believe me: TMR would regard Tricia Walsh-Smith as "one twisted lady" if she wasn't so fucking common. Or if other women would try to stop her behavior and thinking (which very few do, ruthlessly accepting whatever benefits may possibly arise from acting crazy.) So, since women don't, they have no one else to blame - especially not men - that the Tricia Walsh-Smith's of the world are seen as par for the course. She's feminism's latest NewAge poster child because so few other women do anything to prove otherwise. They don't speak up. Women rally to her side when she's clearly "Bonkers" and needs a firm talking to. They even hope she "wins."

Blame only yourselves, Ladies, if you're taken wrong: you suck.

I Should Have Gone On YouTube

Well, it seems Tricia Walsh-Smith’s tarot cards (and gender) are working for her: she's in talks for her own reality program, feminists are dumping money into her PayPal account, and newspapers and magazines are covering her.

Yes, the woman who admits “I had an affair with a married man,” and to using a "Yorkshire psychic," is doing alright. I, on the other hand, am just getting by and, still, get anonymous e-mails from "friends," telling me what they think they knew about my marriage, and dissing my post-divorce interest in NewAge: of course, when they do so, nobody ever explains the inherent "spirituality" in my own Miss Information's lying and adultery. ("He was helping her get in touch with the universe - and you never even tried!")

It's weird for me to consider I knew so many people with such a positive interest in NewAge - enough to defend it, anyway. I've got to get some other friends, that's for sure. But, apparently, there's no such thing as a rich and powerful, angry and supportive, atheistic genius-black-songwriter-with-integrity lobby,...

Anyway, people actually feel for the woman, now known simply as "Trish":
"When her alcoholic auto-mechanic brother Kevin lost everything in a divorce, he hanged himself. She is preoccupied, she says, with thoughts of Kevin, his failures. 'I’m basically going to go bankrupt. I’m going down the toilet and nobody gives a shit!' she says, weeping."

Yea, lady, join the club.

I'm thinking I gotta get a video camera,...and a deck of those damn cards!

Tricia Walsh-Smith: Still With The Cards!

The scorned socialite starring in the "YouTube Divorce" isn't just going bonkers - she's going broke.

"Bonkers" playwright Tricia Walsh-Smith, who danced and sang "I'm going bonkers" in her latest video rant against her estranged husband, said Monday she's practically penniless, even though she can still live on Park Ave.

"I've got no money," Walsh-Smith said outside Manhattan Supreme Court. "That's why I did the YouTube. It's kind of serious stuff."

Walsh-Smith, 52, appeared in court for a hearing in her divorce from Philip Smith, the 77-year-old president of the Shubert Organization. He was a no-show for the hearing.

"Just do the decent thing," Walsh-Smith cried for a bank of television cameras outside the courthouse. "Let me have a roof over my head."

Supreme Court Justice Harold Beeler said Walsh-Smith is free to remain at the Park Ave. pad until after the couple's divorce trial next month.

Of late, she's been staying in a rented London flat, where she filmed her latest YouTube spot.

In the video, the self-proclaimed YouTube Superstar & Warrior rails against "male chauvinist pigs" and vows she's "going to go down yelling and screaming."

"My victory is every woman's victory," Walsh-Smith says during the 7-minute clip. "So, uh, women warriors!"

She also calls on her fellow females to join her in something called "Women Warriors of the World United" and to send money to her PayPal account.

"I'm just really sad," she said outside the courthouse.

But One More New Man Will Fix Things Right Up

Well, I told you I'd follow the story:

It looks like "victory!" isn't actually in the Tarot cards for the YouTube lady in a divorce, Tricia Walsh-Smith. Her lawyer has just quit; and now her first husband is talking to the papers, describing what, to me, sounds like a very-familiar NewAge tale, of a particular-type of woman, chasing money and mysticism, and damn anybody that gets in her way. Her former husband, John Obertelli, says, "Even now after all these years and with all the experience I have gained, I still have no idea what makes Tricia tick."

Abandoned families; the attempt at "a modeling career"; affairs with rich married men - and hurting the one's they catch - seem to hold a clue. (Speaking of the affairs, The Daily Mail says, "In this department at least, her track record was truly spectacular.") Echoing her first husband, I ask: what is it with these people? I'm sure, if you asked Miss Walsh-Smith, she'd describe herself as a good wife, a good person, a good mother, a feminist, and all that; but, according to her first husband, "the sad truth is she's only seen [her son] for a couple of minutes in 20 years." And, I'm sure, shacking up with married men hardly qualifies her as showing solidarity with their wives in the "sisterhood". Or of even being a good person.

She did write a play once, called "Bonkers", which, I guess, will have to stand as the best explanation for it all. It's sad, though.

Her former husbands were, all, probably doing their best under the circumstances.

I Was Totally With Her Until The Tarot Cards

This is Tricia Walsh Smith, a NewAger, and self-proclaimed "idiot" and "schmuck" - and probably a liar. She's causing quite a stir by divorcing her husband on YouTube.

She keeps saying her husband has no grounds for divorce but, since she's waving around a deck of tarot cards, I think the old boy has more than good reason to get as far, far, away from her as possible. Let's be clear: any woman in 2008 who's using medieval means to determine *anything* is, quite obviously, living in the wrong century and - not surprisingly - her husband now thinks she's even in the wrong house. Needless to say, I couldn't agree with him more.

I'ma keep following this story and see how it turns out, because it sounds like this relationship, too, was written in the stars,...
