Yesterday, we we driving with the radio on, when they played the title track from the new Kanye West album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy". It sucked. After it was over, the announcer mentioned the critics were hailing it as the best album of the year. We almost pulled over to cry. We've heard most of the tracks on the damn thing, and not one of them can even beat The Velvelettes' "He Was Really Saying Something" made in 1964. Now how sorry is that?
What's become of American standards - in art and otherwise? We couldn't even find an original version of "He Was Really Saying Something" on YouTube. Sigh.
