It's So Bizarre How At The Same Moment Obama Comes Into View His White Supporters Have Lost Sight Of Him

Consider - the Right-wing's many "scandals" have come to absolutely nothing, Syria was cornered without a war, and Ted Cruz's Tea Party faction was outmaneuvered - but here's the (politically pathetic) conventional wisdom after a mere website screw-up:

Or - just as "surely" - somebody's still seeing what they want to see, imagines they see, or are told to see.

Which is how we got Obama (including the real man) in the first place,...

 ADDED:

People losing insurance is the only problem I see Obama with, right now, and only because lives are at stake.

It's shocking, to me, what lies y'all decide are important. Very selective. "If you like your plan you can keep it" is worthy of outrage, while "water is medicine" is over 200 years old but long received either a shrug of the shoulders, prominent placement at Whole Foods, celebrity endorsements and/or some viciously aggressive evangelizing that "you can believe what you want to believe."

Obama's critics' long-standing hypocrisy, in this regard and others, serves only to highlight their own opportunistic nature and/or slavery to the ambitions of those behind today's almost-substance-free 24 hour news cycle.

They're a sad replacement for actual wisdom - and work,...

Ted Cruz: A Weak, Pathetic, Sad, Delusional, Politician

I betcha he lost every time he played The Dozens:
“I’m going to be going to the White House. If I’m never seen again, please send a search and rescue team. I very much hope by tomorrow morning I don’t wake up amidst the Syrian rebels.”
That that line would work - on anybody - is all the evidence I need of how lame this all is,...

Lem's Comment Home Is Now Full Of White People Who "Just Don't Give A Fuck" Just Like The Blacks They Hate

Re Crack's demand for a Grand Strategy, anyone who understood the first damn thing about US politics would know that the "impasse" will be resolved on the basis of [poll] numbers like these.

Nope - first you have to make [Obama] care. You didn't understand his comment, during Syria, about "style points", did you? Like most black people, Obama has the ability to completely ignore the expectations of whites, so I wouldn't hold my breath that not being liked will make much of an impression.

Yes, I tried explaining reality to the extreme Right over at Lem's yesterday, but since I'm black like Obama - which means I'm not a real Republican - they didn't buy it. The Atlantic's mainly white folks so maybe, just maybe, they'll understand if they explain it:

Lem keeps a nice Mark Twain quote as his blog's sub-heading:
"A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way"

It's bizarre because the people I encounter over there are against everything Twain stood for.

Today, it's Indians - again.

They're more like Obama than they think,...

Choice - Who's Smarter: Sarah Palin Or Thomas Sowell?

Sarah thinks Ted Cruz is Syria and worth defending:
"Sarah Palin is actually right about something.
...Former Governor [Sarah] Palin (R-AK) tweeted, on Sunday, that [Chris] Wallace ought to reveal which sources had sent him the dirt on [Ted] Cruz. She tweeted “@FoxNewsSunday Keep it TRULY fair & balanced. Release the GOP names encouraging you to trash @SenTedCruz. No more anonymous sources.”

Thomas Sowell sees Ted Cruz as the Republican's Vladimir Putin:
"What could possibly rescue Barack Obama from all these political problems and create a distraction that takes all his scandals off the front page? Only one thing: the Republicans.
By making a futile and foredoomed attempt to defund Obamacare, Congressional Republicans have created the distraction that Obama so much needs. Already media attention has shifted to the possibility of a government shutdown.
Politically, it doesn’t matter that the Republicans are not really trying to shut down the government. What matters is that this distraction solves Barack Obama’s political problems that he could not possibly have solved by himself.
The time, effort, and credibility that Republicans are investing in trying to defund Obamacare is a high-risk, low-yield investment."

So who's right for the Right? You know my views:

I'm leaving this one for you,...

Ready! Aim! Fire Everybody Associated With This Crap!

Follow me, sharp shooters:

A few days ago, Glenn Reynolds' message was clear:

"I think the GOP can win even by losing,…"

But today's message is linked to JIM TYNEN:
Why the Republicans Can’t Give Up Now.
“They would be like Obama and his red line in Syria. They have drawn a red line; to go back is to look feckless and weak. And, worse, ridiculous. Whether the time is right, etc., is irrelevant. Folding would give them no credit; their only recourse is to win. And victory is closer than ever.”

So, are Tynen and I right - winning is still "winning" - and Glenn's experimenting with Charlie Sheen's Tiger Blood

Drudge has got Sarah Palin screaming, Bomb's Away!"

But AP's got Rand Paul admitting to her it's all a delusion.

What to do?

Well, who's right is the wrong question - it's a losing campaign to begin with - so we at least need a lesson for the rest of us.

Get some leaders from this century:

Because, when you're as confused as Glenn and Sarah, bringing down a moose - and bringing down a elephant - are pretty much the same operation,...

Ballad For A Losing Party (To Keep Them From Losing)

Couldn't win on Trayvon, none of the scandals have panned out, and Syria even ended up a big nothing.

It's an even bigger Talking Heads day,...

Beliefs Aren't Black & White (But Exist In A Grey Area)

Here's a quote - not an article - making a true claim:
The rule of thumb with bizarre Christian right beliefs, such as the belief that Syria’s conflict is a sign of the end times, is that by the time it percolates up to a Google search or a website like the Blaze, it’s been flying around in lower-profile venues such as Internet forums, Facebook posts, books sold in Christian bookstores, in-person meetings in churches, sermons and presentations, and email forwards for a long time now. The fact that these points of view are concealed from prying liberal eyes doesn’t mean that they don’t have a huge impact on right-wing communities—and that includes Republican politicians.

All true, but it's still a lie - a lie of omission. They leave something out. Here's the flip side, written by me:

The rule of thumb with bizarre NewAge left beliefs, such as the belief vaccines cause autism, is that by the time it percolates up to a Google search or a website like the Huffington Post, it’s been flying around in lower-profile venues such as Internet forums, Facebook posts, books sold in NewAge bookstores, in-person meetings in seminars, retreats and presentations, and email forwards for a long time now. The fact that these points of view are concealed from prying conservative eyes doesn’t mean that they don’t have a huge impact on leftt-wing communities—and that includes Democrat politicians.

Oh, man, Westerners are such a cultish crack-up - so many joiners and followers - but we're all paying for the privilege:
Here in New York, the cost of even a single yoga class has skyrocketed. I suppose mental health is priceless, but it is hard to justify paying $30 a class when I already have two yoga mats, my very own floor (which came with my apartment), and a general idea of what I need to do. But the yoga industry continues to attract new devotees. According to a 2012 Yoga in America study produced by Yoga Journal, more than 20 million Americans practice yoga, an increase of 29 percent since 2008. Furthermore, yogis shell out $10.3 billion a year on yoga classes and products, including equipment, clothing, and vacations. Colorado-based Gaiam, Inc., a large eco-conscious lifestyle media company that sells yoga clothes, mats and DVDs, also carries niche items like herbal towelettes, toeless yoga socks, and yoga flip flops on its website.
Rarely do I come across anything spiritual that is free.

Yeah, Lady, least of all yourself:

Or those of us bearing NewAge's full weight,...

A Cheap Two Points & A Jersey Hanging On The Rafters

I wish I'd written this consideration, when I originally thought it, but I didn't. The man's playing basketball, where - as Michael Jordan said - a win is a win. That makes sense.

What doesn't make sense - which I also considered and haven't spoken of - is why, when we discuss the Iraq War, Christopher Hitchens' argument isn't the dominate one,...
