Stop Crying (Or They'll Give You Something To Cry For)

It isn't often a good William H. Macy movie gets a 46% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but David Mamet's little nightmare, Edmond, has achieved it.

Brutal honesty, punished, for making the West most uncomfortable.

And it shouldn't be compared to Falling Down because, when it comes to *legit* mainstream movies about angry white men, Edmond ain't nothing like it - or even Fight Club - though the Brad Pitt vehicle is closer to the mark. They'd make a ruthless art house triple bill, somewhere, that's for sure.

No, unlike the guys in those other films, Edmond is about a true NewAger. It goes unstated because, in this NewAge Nazi society, it's accepted "logic" that a "man" would use numerology to arrive in front of a tarot deck, and then - based on a combination of sexual frustration, emasculation, and what the cards "said" - proceed to leave his wife. He's "on the path".

We know the path. Check it out, solipsism fans:

For viewing online, someone's helpfully even broken Edmond into 8 individual parts,...

Naturally Putrid Radio Has Lost (And We Juan!)

Life is so strange: we can still remember the very first time we saw Juan Williams on public television, and thinking he was some milk toast-y black guy whose opinions didn't matter much (Which is true if you think about it: until now, has Juan Williams ever said or done anything worth mentioning? Hell, he didn't even do anything now - it was NPR that did something so wrong we're all talking about it). And yet, today, he's the darling of the Right - specifically because he's an old school Democrat and not a "progressive" - after being thrown over the side for ideological impurity. As Bill O'Reilly says, here, Williams' career is now set - thanks to NPR attempting to destroy him. Whodathunkit?

And - wow - who do NPR think they are? Seriously, Juan Williams was a great fit because he was as milk toast-y as they appeared to be. Now, here they come, playing hardball with a guy they probably thought wouldn't fight back - forgetting the thing they hated most about him were his conservative friends - but now he's got a lot of friends, and even worse, they're coming into power, ready to fight. It's just a stupid, stupid, stupid move by NPR, all around.

If NPR soon gets defunded (as Sarah Palin suggests) that'll be fine by us - we stopped watching/listening to them years ago, once we realized they were a part of the NewAge matrix - because anything that forces Louise Hay to dig deeper, into her own pocket, to keep an outlet for her stable of NewAgers open, is A-OK around here. (We'd be happier if Hay just died already, but whatever.)

And if, like Air America, NPR eventually finds they can't survive without sucking on the public tit, all the better. This Juan Williams thing is just the sort of episode that proves why. They weren't ever to have been trusted - or supported - and especially not on the public dime. As we've been saying for years (and even David Mamet eventually discovered - calling them "National Palestinian Radio") underneath that soft-spoken coo-cooing, they're nothing but a nest of NewAge vipers:

And now, in a FOX News frenzy, it appears they've finally gone and bitten themselves to death.

Good riddance.

Mad Scientists?

I seem to be getting a lot of visitors from Seed ("Science Is Culture") Magazine coming over this week. They're discussing what I'm saying, or what to do about me - Attack? Ignore? Laugh? It would be hilarious if it wasn't so (potentially) frightening. I mean, liberals will do anything. As Andrew Klavan wrote (while remarking on the conversion of David Mamet to conservatism):

"He will come to find out just how small-minded, exclusionary and intellectually corrupt many on the left can be."

Or worse. What are scientists capable of? Sure, as one once told me (when I suggested they needed more backbone in the face of NewAge) they're "just a bunch of twits" but that's what makes Libs dangerous: they're fine as long as they think they're in control. But let them get an inkling the sands are moving under their feet, that their power might be an illusion, that their backs are against a wall - any wall - and then, they get crazy.

I've seen it practically every time I've posted a comment on one of the science blogs. They're hardly reasonable, or inquisitive - just hostile. Their minds are made up: no one knows more than them - about anything - and don't you dare suggest otherwise. They know a "fallacy" when they hear one (Oh, boy, do they!) but they don't seem to know much about life. Or conservatism, imagining us all as right-wing religious nuts and fascists.

The idea that conservatives, like me and Panda, could be amongst their ranks (he, as a doctor, and I as an atheist) must startle them because neither of us is a "typical" anything. What to do? What to do?

Here's my suggestion, Folks:

You might as well come with it, because I'm not going away, nor will I shut up - and, meanwhile, TMR's influence is spreading like paint.

And you don't want to get anything on that nice clean lab coat, now do you?

In No Mood To Play Around

Looking at the pictures of Eliot Spitzer's wife are torturous. Betrayal is such an ugly thing. You can see she hasn't been sleeping, probably not eating, as well. The poor woman. Anyone who can suggest there are "worse things than adultery" is either sick in the head or equally guilty. Without killing someone, it is, without a doubt, the ultimate way to hurt those who love you.

I hope she'll be alright and has friends who will be good for her and her daughters because, despite knowing the truth, she's still in for a rough ride ahead. Possibly years of torture because nothing will ever be the same:

She now knows she can't trust him but, more importantly, she's discovering she can't exactly trust herself - because, damn it, she trusted him.

That's the really tough part. That look in the mirror.

Moving on, the way the media is trying to portray this - as merely a male failing - when 70% of divorces are started by women, is just wrong. Oh well, the Liberals have their story line and they're sticking with it, whether it's a lie or not. When it comes to the part that's true though, I think Kathleen Parker says it best:
"Are we harder on women than we are on men? Here’s a hint: If President Hillary Clinton were caught having an affair with a male intern her daughter’s age, would she ever be received again in public except for her own funeral?"
I assure you, the answer - outside of Liberal circles - is a very-loud "no". How "feminist" Hillary helped make that statement true is a question for the ages. Stand by your man? Understandable. Cover for the cheating bastard? Attack his accusers? And then run for his job - with his help - in front of all of us? That's just sleazy NewAge insanity. Our whole country needs a shower after those two. Like Mrs. Spitzer, we didn't ask to be a part of this.

David Mamet has switched sides, politically, becoming a Conservative. (Something Liberal dreamers keep declaring is impossible in these anti-Bush times.) It happened for Mamet as it does for so many others:
"As a child of the '60s, I accepted as an article of faith that government is corrupt, that business is exploitative, and that people are generally good at heart.

These cherished precepts had, over the years, become ingrained as increasingly impracticable prejudices. Why do I say impracticable? Because although I still held these beliefs, I no longer applied them in my life. How do I know? My wife informed me. We were riding along and listening to NPR. I felt my facial muscles tightening, and the words beginning to form in my mind:

Shut the fuck up."
Ha! "Shut the fuck up" was such a popular phrase with me, my ex had it put on a t-shirt for one of my birthdays. It really is a magic phrase. A serious determinant of position:

Liberalism is over once you get there.

Welcome to the club, David.

Fiona MacKeown, the mother of Scarlett Keeling (above) a 15-year-old murdered in Goa, India, is being questioned about possible negligence in leaving the teenager on her own. While her mother and family were in another part of India, her daughter is said to have been drunk, and high on drugs, when she was raped and murdered on a beach. So why do I mention it? Listen up:
"Mrs MacKeown, 43, is well used to being viewed as unusual, with her brood of children by at least four fathers leading an alternative New Age lifestyle, with the help of her partner, Rob Clarke, 47."
Yep, Scarlett's mom is one of them. Speaking of them, in some parts of the world, NewAgers are being jailed for failing to vaccinate their kids, which I think is a step in the right direction: Let there be a real price for imposing this idiocy on kids. On society. On history.

Which all brings me to Kwame Kilpatrick, the embattled mayor of Detroit. Just four words:

Shut the fuck up.
