So Jared Lee Loughner, Gabrielle Gifford's liberal shooter (and the murderer of Judge John McCarthy Roll and others) was a "garden variety nut", eh? 
And his motivations are "incomprehensible", are they? 
Well, only if you're focused on the political angle - which we've warned you is the wrong place to focus. 
For instance, it sure is weird he's into a lot of stuff this blog's been warning you about, all the while predicting mayhem:
The NewAge practice of conscience dreaming definitely figured in this.
His friend, Catie Parker, says he was obsessed with 2012.
There's a report he was also tripping on mind control and brainwashing.
Everybody, by now, knows his favorite books are "Mein Kampf", and "The Communist Manifesto". But it's funny how everyone sticks to that political stuff (even after the 2012 reference) and barely mentions another of Loughner's favorites - the Buddha book, Siddhartha.
And his oikophobic rantings on YouTube are also in line with NewAge "thinking".
Speaking of NewAge thinking, The Daily Kos' Markos Moulitsas, and The Atlantic's Andrew Sullivan, seem to be in a lot of hot water over their responses to all this. 
What's NewAge about them, you ask? 
Well, we presented you with information, a long time ago, about how The Daily Kos started as an astrology outfit, while, not too long ago, we were also showing you Andrew's NewAge Nazi connections.
Like we've said, you'll figure it out,...eventually.
Because we've all seen something like this before.

"At recent rallies, town hall meetings and 'tea parties,' a few protesters have shown up with signs comparing Obama to Hitler (i.e. depicting him with a Hitler mustache), or displaying swastikas in the context of implying that Obama and/or his administration are Nazi-like.
One would think that this would not be particularly newsworthy, but Democrats, the White House and their supporters are expressing outrage at this 'horrifying' and 'menacing' turn of events. (Or faux-outrage, at least.) Pundits, bloggers, media outlets and even top politicians like Nancy Pelosi are claiming that such signs are unprecedented, racist, and even that anyone who brings a swastika to a protest must be self-identifying as a Nazi (instead of accusing their opponents of being Nazis). When anyone tries to point out that the Left continuously compared Bush to Hitler and brought swastikas to rallies for six straight years during the Bush era, Obama supporters mock such claims, demand proof, and then try to ignore any individual examples proffered.
Since I had a front-row seat between 2003 and 2008 at anti-Bush protests in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I saw literally THOUSANDS of Bush/Hitler comparisons and swastikas, I thought perhaps it would be useful to compile here in one place a small sampling of them — to prove beyond any doubt that Hitler and swastikas were referenced incessantly at basically every single protest during the Bush administration. Anyone who claims otherwise is lying, as is anyone who claims that people who bring swastikas to rallies are necessarily self-identifying as Nazis.
I’m not saying I 'approve' of the new variant of this trend (comparing Obama to Hitler), nor that it is any more clever or insightful than comparing Bush to Hitler; I only post these images here to highlight the hypocrisy of anyone now expressing outrage that Obama could uniquely suffer such an indignity."
I guess I should add that I saw my first Bush/Hitler poster in Wissembourg, France, carried happily by the child of my friend, Patrick Kastner, and - despite the fact I showed a bit of outrage (more like faux-outrage, in order to be civil) none of the adults around this child considered how wrong it was to insult their American guest in this manner. Not that they'd care - as long as they thought it was funny (or believed it was true) nothing else - like, for instance, good manners - mattered. (And - if anyone thinks this blog displays bad manners now - well, having lived in France, I learned from the masters,...)
I also remember a conversation at Patrick's house, where the subject turned to the war (as it inevitably did at french gatherings) and the Bush-bashing started. Someone asked me what I thought about the president and I said I liked him and why. They all looked at my (now-ex) french wife, Karine Ann Brunck, and asked if she agreed, and she said, "I do when he says it." They all mumbled their disagreement, questioning her choice in mates. 
Later, after she had started sleeping with Wissembourg's murderous homeopathic quack, Robert Wohlfahrt, I read some of their e-mails to one another and found that he'd rail against Bush to her - with no disagreement - revealing that I had been, literally, "sleeping with the enemy" for 20 years. I cried for months over that, alone.
Now that Obama is fighting "Bush's Wars" - and the left appears to have lost interest - the hypocrisy is maddening.

The paper gave disproportionate attention to The Reader by featuring a wistful-looking still of Kate Winslet above the headline 'Films About Personal Triumphs Resonate With Viewers During Awards Season.'
What, exactly, was the Kate Winslet character's 'personal triumph'? While in prison for participation in an act of mass murder that was particularly gruesome and personal, given the generally impersonal extermination process—as a death camp guard, she helped ensure 300 Jewish women locked in a burning church would die in the fire—she taught herself to read! What a heartwarming fable about the wonders of literacy and its ability to improve the life of an Auschwitz mass murderer!
True, she's unrepentant for the most part about allowing those women and children to burn to death. (Although we do see one scene in which it turns out she's saved some pennies in prison that she wants to be given to the children of the women she murdered—thanks!) But most of what we see of her prison experience is her excitement at her growing literacy skills. Get a load of those pages turning! Reading is fun!
It's been argued that no fictional film can do justice to the events of 1939-45, that only documentaries like Alan Resnais' Night and Fog or Claude Lanzmann's nine-plus-hour-long Shoah can begin to convey the reality of the evil. And there certainly have been execrable failures (example: Life Is Beautiful). I've argued that most of the fictionalized efforts either exhibit a false redemptiveness or an offensive sexual exploitiveness—what some critics have called 'Nazi porn.' But in recent years, a new mode of misconstrual has prevailed—the desire to exculpate the German people of guilt for the crimes of the Hitler era. I spoke recently with Mark Weitzman, the head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center's New York office, who went so far as to say that The Reader was a symptom of a kind of 'Holocaust revisionism,' which used to be the euphemistic term for Holocaust denial.
Weitzman mentioned three films in particular: In addition to The Reader, there was Tom Cruise's Valkyrie, which gave the impression that the Wehrmacht, the German army, was full of good men and true (identifiable in the film by their British accents) who had always opposed that lout Hitler with his whole silly Jewish obsession, when in fact the more we learn about the Wehrmacht's role, the more disgracefully complicit it turns out to have been with the mass murderers of the SS. Yes, a few Wehrmacht officers did plot against Hitler, but they waited to take action until the successful Normandy invasion, when it seemed Hitler would lose the war.
'The Valkyrie conspiracy took place in 1944,' Weitzman told me. 'If it had been 1941, it might have made a difference.'
And then there was Cruise's character, Claus von Stauffenberg, very brave, it's true, in 1944. But back during the brutal war crime that was the 1939 invasion of Poland (the British magazine History Today reminds us), he was describing the Polish civilians his army was slaughtering as 'an unbelievable rabble' made up of 'Jews and mongrels.' With friends like these ...
Moral: Don't go looking for heroes in the largely mythical 'German resistance' to Hitler. The German resistance was not much more real or effectual than the French Resistance—its legend outgrew its deeds after the war. (Although it is worth seeking out the two movies about the tiny, brave-but-doomed, Munich-based 'White Rose' resistance, The White Rose and Sophie Scholl: The Last Days, which tell the story of a few students who didn't—like the Valkyrie conspirators—believe the goal was to help Germany win the war more efficiently than Hitler, but to bear moral witness against the exterminators. For which they were brutally guillotined in Munich in 1943.)
The third film Weitzman mentions as an example of this soft revisionism is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, one I haven't been able to bring myself to see but that features a young German boy, son of Nazi parents, who lives near a concentration camp and befriends a young death camp 'boy in striped pajamas.' The tale is not dissimilar in saccharine sentiment to the recently revealed, Oprah-fied fraud about the girl who gave the death camp boy apples, although it avoids the happy ending of that treacly sham.
