If They'd Said This To Clinton We'd Be On Mars Already

It's wild how the Democrats can see what they want, when they want, and nothing else. I mean, does this ad immediately make you think of The Bill & Monica Show, as I did, or not?

And where's the Left's favorite tag line, "It was only a blow job!" now?

If they're going to keep attempting to redefine everything according to their needs, I sincerely hope they start on the words "shallow" and "superficial" soon,...

Mark Morford: Cosmic Corruption At It's Finest

"Let us ponder. Because once again and for the billionth time, a deeply sad and hypocritical conservative is now claiming that he will be turning to God not merely for forgiveness for his lusty irresponsibilities, but he is also claiming that, in order to set things right, God will now be actively stepping into his life to help put him back on track, fix his mangled moral compass, tell him the what-what and the don't-stick-that-there.

Isn't that terrific? Isn't it wondrous to hear that God cares so much, so specifically, for Gov. Mark Sanford? Is it not heartening to hear that God will now happily jump into the rather wretched role of Sanford's own personal therapist, helping the wayward governor bury his heart and nix his one true love so he may return to his unhappy marriage and unhappy job and unhappy life? Yay God! So good of Him to take the time.

I, for one, am utterly delighted at how Sanford has effortlessly reduced the grand concept of timeless, universal divine metaconsciousness down to a bit of a tool, essentially making God his own personal knave. What a fantastic conceit! What glorious gall! We should all try that someday."

-- Mark Morford, Gay Yoga Master and overwhelmingly silly NewAge columnist, once again - after all the asinine things he's been prone to "believe" and write - pontificating on how well he understands the failings of Republicans who believe in Christianity, without noticing the awfully large cultish mote staining his own (Third?) eye, in The San Francisco Chronicle.

Sanford And Son(s)

"Mark Sanford is no longer missing, but he's obviously lost. The South Carolina governor's press conference was excruciating: apology, followed by self-flagellation, followed by apology. It was like watching a man light himself on fire. I thought about his kids mustering up the courage to watch it on YouTube some day. I thought about his wife having to suffer the anger and the loss. Perhaps even worse, she's also going to have to endure the armies of pity and the people like me trying to guess at what her feelings are.

...Sanford has done a horrible thing to his wife and family and friends. He seemed to know and feel this more profoundly than other politicians we've seen go through this familiar apology exercise before. That doesn't excuse him. Not that he was asking that anyone excuse him. He seemed to be trying to take all the blame, as he should. Some might think his explanations were excuses. To me they seemed like a man confessing the details of a crime.

...What Mark Sanford seemed to be trying to say is that he screwed up, in the biggest possible way, because he lost his bearings. He lost his self-control. He was indulgent. He forgot that there were other humans in the world."

-- John Dickerson, on what even TMR has to admit was a classy display of brutal honesty (something we respect) by someone who completely screwed over a lot of lives, winning him a precious few points - for what's left of his character - on Slate.com.
