Sides

"A bunch of bong-smoking, America-bashing, flag-burning, yoga-posing, incense-burning, dolphin-saving, salmon-eating hypocrites. These are the sensitive, liberal people who are always yelling about people's freedom of speech and expression, unless you happen to say something that pisses them off."
"A bunch of money-grubbin', greenhouse-gasing, seal-clubbing, oil-drilling, Bible-thumping, missile-firing, right-to-life-ing, lethal-injecting hypocrites. People whose idea of a good time is strapping a dead panda to a Lincoln Navigator and running over everybody in the gay parade."

Self Reality Check

Intelligent Black American is a hopeless title to hold. If you don't think like Thomas Sowell, conservatives won't give you the time of day. And, if you don't want to be Malcolm X, liberals won't either. This reduces you to a target for the pleasure of both camps. And they're both illegitimate for it.

"I think this president has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen."

-- John Edwards, commenting on the Bill & Monica Show of 1999, in the Guardian

True wisdom. Hey look - there's Gavin Newsom!

“Who knows why? Who cares? Whatever the reasons, could be a billion, obsessed girl that I am, I must have the damn book…..Justify justify justify addict addict addict. And, clearly, I need more reminders because clearly I can’t remember, so clearly I don’t have enough, oh my God, the comedy of it all. Somebody please stop the insanity.”

Lisa Druck, AKA "Rielle Hunter," in a musing taken from her NewAge website, and posted on Jossip.com

Spoken like the "enlightened" one she claims she is. They're all enlightened. You can see it in their eyes.

Dallas lawyer Fred Baron told The Dallas Morning News today that he made regular payments to the woman that former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards has confessed to having an affair with.

Mr. Baron, who was chairman of Mr. Edwards’ presidential campaign finance committee, said he paid money to Rielle Hunter to move from North Carolina to another location.

He said she and another campaign aide, Andrew Young, who claimed paternity of Ms. Hunter’s child, were being dogged by tabloid reporters who believed she had an affair with Mr. Edwards and fathered his child.

Mr. Baron would not say how much money he gave the couple to move."

-- Gromer Jeffers Jr., on the latest development to widen the cover-up beyond the Edwards campaign, wikipedia, and the mainstream press, for the Dallas Morning News

The logic of which is inescapable. It's even enlightened. As these things go.

"I want to see our party lead on the great moral issues - yes, me a Democrat using that word - the great moral issues that face our country. If we want to live in a moral, honest just America and if we want to live in a moral and just world, we can't wait for somebody else to do it. We have to do it."

-- John Edwards, talking to a crowd of supporters in one of the videos Lisa Druck recorded for his presidential campaign, also in the Guardian

NewAge enlightenment sure shot a big-ass hole in all that, didn't it?

Look at that face.

All of you who promote NewAge should be ashamed of yourselves.

Yea, You Don't Want To Do That,...

"Who WAS this man of character and decency we all loved and trusted after all, we are asking ourselves. Sadly, we just THOUGHT we knew the guy — we didn’t. Live and learn — it’s never good to put our heros up on a pedestal lest we place our own selves in a vulnerable position."

Environmentalists Were Never "Cool"

"Julie Burchill can't stand them. According to her new book, Not in my Name: A Compendium of Modern Hypocrisy, she thinks all environmentalists are po-faced, unsexy, public school alumni who drivel on about the end of the world because they don't want the working classes to have any fun, go on foreign holidays or buy cheap clothes.

Michael O'Leary, the chief executive of Ryanair, agrees. In an interview with Rachel Sylvester and me, he told us that the 'nutbag ecologists' are the overindulged rich who have nothing better to do with their lives than talk about hot air and beans.

So the salad days are over; it's the end of the greens. Where only a year ago the smart new eco-warriors were revered, wormeries and unbleached cashmere jeans are now seen as a middle-class indulgence.

But the problem for the green lobby isn't that it has been overrun by 'toffs': it's the chilly economic climate that has frozen the shoots of environmentalism. Espousing the green life, with its misshapen vegetables and non-disposable nappies, is increasingly being seen as a luxury by everyone."

"John" John In The John John (With All The Rest)

"This was a sensational scandal the LAT and other MSM papers passionately did not want to uncover when Edwards was a formal candidate, and now that the Enquirer seems to have done the job for them it looks like they want everyone to shut up while they fail to uncover it again. ..."

-- Mickey Kaus, on the news of a Los Angeles Times blogger gag order about the John Edwards affair, on Slate.com

Wonkette's take is the best so far:

"The important question is not “Why is John Edwards cheating on his wife who had cancer?” We know that answer: He’s a Democratic politician."

And, yes, this is the same uber-cynical Wonkette that, when this story first broke, asked:

What kind of monster would cheat on a woman with cancer!

TMR's answer: a Democrat.

Why? Let's recap recent history - or as I like to call it - going on the Left-wing Morality Tour:

Bill Clinton: rewarded by the Democrats for countless affairs, gropings, rapes, and attacks on women. Hillary even joined in the fun. And so did the party. All while posing as radical feminists. Good start, huh?

San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom: slept with his best friend/campaign manager's wife. When she was drunk. Newsom's current fiancé decided to bad-mouth the best friend's wife, apparently, to rub salt in the best friend's wound even more. Then Newsom crashed the best friend's attempt to recover, financially, from the blow of losing his job because his boss was scum. Oh, and the people of San Francisco followed all that by giving Newsom a 75% approval rating in the next election, right after Newsom did some bullshit treatment, for a short period of time, at the recovery center of his choice - which was ran by a friend of his. *Sweet*

LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa: ran on a Left-wing Family Values ticket. To make the point clear, his last name is even he and his wife's last names combined. Fucked a stupid news reporter with a reputation for power fucking (sleeping with politicians) as a way to get ahead. He helped her get a house - how you say? "Cheep." Los Angelinos (especially Hispanics) went ape shit crazy when the story broke but the furor has died down - until John Edwards went to visit his NewAge "Love Child" after spending the day with Villaraigosa.

I say throw all the bums out, Democrats: they make YOU - yea, you - look bad. Very bad.

The John Edwards story is supposed to break this weekend.

Obama Is A Trip

"The speech fed the illusion that we could solve our problems if only people mystically come together.

The great illusion of the 1990s was that we were entering an era of global convergence in which politics and power didn’t matter. What Obama offered in Berlin flowed right out of this mind-set. This was the end of history on acid."

-- David Brooks, finally getting sick of the NewAge "treacle" Barack Obama offers as substance, for the New York Times.

Charley, Charley, Charley,...You Old Dog

"While aggressive evictions are making rent-stabilized apartments increasingly scarce in New York, Representative Charles B. Rangel is enjoying four of them, including three adjacent apartments in a sprawling penthouse overlooking Upper Manhattan, courtesy of one of New York’s premier real estate developers.

Mr. Rangel, the powerful Democrat who is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, uses his fourth apartment, six floors below, as a campaign office, despite state and city regulations that require rent-stabilized apartments to be used as a primary residence.

Mr. Rangel, who has a net worth of $566,000 to $1.2 million, according to Congressional disclosure records, paid a total rent of $3,894 monthly in 2007 for the four apartments at Lenox Terrace, a 1,700-unit, six-tower luxury development with doormen that is described in real estate publications as Harlem’s most prestigious address.

The current market-rate rent for similar apartments in the building would total $7,465 to $8,125 a month, according to the Web site of the owner, the Olnick Organization."

Like Finding A Dead Squirrel By The Highway

"All you never really wanted to know about the sex lives of President Dubya Bush and his famously frosty First Lady Laura is at the core of a novel due to be published to Republican blushes as the flag goes down on the election season this autumn.

It is called
American Wife and comes from Curtis Sittenfeld, a woman of 33 whose first novel Prep was the sleeper bestseller of 2003 and a contender for the Orange Prize. It was about sex, romance and upper-crust social hypocrisy as a naive country girl goes to an East Coast 'prep' school.

Random House promises to publish
American Wife with very similar themes in time for the Republican nominating convention."

-- Charles Laurence, predicting this wallow-in-the-gutter (by a self-described "flaming liberal") will cause "shock" on the Right, in The First Post.

Liberalism: Lying As A Way Of Life

"The fact that those on the left lie isn’t so surprising. What boggles the mind is how badly they do it. In the recent past, Jack Kelley of USA Today was caught fabricating stories, as was Stephen Glass of the New Republic, as was Jayson Blair of the New York Times. Janet Cooke cooked up a story about an eight-year-old heroin addict for the Washington Post, and, like Mr. Duranty, won a Pulitzer Prize for her fictional concoction. But at least the Post, unlike the New York Times, had the good grace to return the Prize once the truth leaked out.

Let us not forget CBS’s Dan Rather, who allowed his hatred of George Bush to blind him to the fact that he was going to the mat in defense of obviously forged documents, and that not too long ago, the New Republic, even after the Stephen Glass affair, was so eager to attack the war in Iraq they ran a series of foul and outrageous lies slandering our troops by one Scott Thomas Beauchamp.

The thing about those on the left that I personally find so infuriating is that they’re such hypocrites that they never call one another out for not telling the truth. For instance, Al Gore and his Hollywood disciples are constantly exchanging the environmental equivalent of high-fives, and no liberal ever mentions the inconvenient truth that all of these people reside in mansions the size of hotels and fly all over the planet in private jets. Talk about carbon footprints! Dinosaurs didn’t have feet this big or this dirty.

Speaking of movie stars, they all pretend to be populists, just worried sick about the plight of blue collar Americans. Of course they’ll open their homes to raise campaign funds for any huckster with a (D) after his or her name. But have you ever heard about their offering, let us say, a million dollars of their $25 million-a-movie salary to be divided among the crew? The more generous ones pass out wristwatches or autographed photos of themselves at the wrap party, imagining that the various gaffers, gofers and stuntmen, will forever after mention them in their evening prayers.

Talk is cheap, but not nearly as cheap as those lying lefties."

And Scooter Libby Outed Valerie Plame, And,...

"A lot of people claimed that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were lying. But none of their claims were ever disproved, and T. Boone Pickens still has his million bucks."

-- The Editors of the Wall Street Journal, once again proving the NewAge Left lives on a steady diet of lies and delusions.

“Just imagine the world picture of somebody whose primary — or even (God forbid!) sole — source of news is the New York Times.”

Why Should We Do As Lefties Say? Just Because

NewAge Lunacy And Left-Wing Progressive Politics: You've Got To Know It's All Connected

"Stewart R. Mott, a philanthropist whose gifts to progressive and sometimes offbeat causes were often upstaged by his eccentricities, like cultivating a farm with 460 plant species (including 17 types of radishes), a chicken coop and a compost pile, atop his Manhattan penthouse, died Thursday night. He was 70 and had homes in North Salem, N.Y. and Bermuda.

His death was confirmed Friday morning by Conrad Martin, executive director of the Stewart R. Mott Charitable Trust. He said Mr. Mott had been ill with cancer for some time and died in the emergency room of Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, N.Y.

Mr. Mott’s philanthropy included birth control, abortion reform, sex research, arms control, feminism, civil liberties, governmental reform, gay rights and research on extrasensory perception."
