There is a political scandal here. Grand jury investigators were baffled: How did Gosnell's ["House of Horrors" abortion] clinic, an infamous place in the tri-state area, go un-inspected for so long? Basically, the regulators blew it.
The same answer we got for Bernie Madoff, running a classic ponzi scheme, and the mortgage crisis, and Enron, and on and on, right up to cultism and all the rest. It's criminal. We need to fire everybody and start clean with these "regulators" because, I figure, there's either so much fraud out there, the current crew can't keep up, or they don't consider fraud important, or they're stupid. Being generous, I lean toward the latter.
And, at the risk of making this blog a one-trick pony (Ha!) they're not alone,...

In these tough times of record unemployment, terror alerts, oil spills, mortgage foreclosures and partisan politics that have torn a rent down the middle of this country, Americans have good reason to be living in fear.
Now, it turns out super heroes aren't immune either.
Marvel Comics announced Tuesday that it is launching "Fear Itself," a seven-issue mega-event series starting in April, which taps into all the malaise gripping the company's readers. In the fictional universe of Spider-Man and Iron Man, however, that panic is stoked by the villainous God of Fear instead of television pundits and Internet-savvy fundamentalist clerics.
As many of you know, TMR has lots of friends who are police officers and lawyers now, so we don't get into gratuitous bashing of those professions. On the other hand, this blog was started because of a still-unresolved case of adultery that ended with a triple murder - that no one's gone to prison for yet - so this FRONTLINE expose' of, both, investigative and judicial fuck-ups kinda rang true for us somehow. And, because our personal story of such evil is wrapped up in the world-wide fraud of NewAge, so did this:

As usual, it started in the '60s and nobody was willing to ask the hard questions, but - most importantly - those living through the '60s were unwilling to ask any hard questions of themselves. Which is also how Barack Obama became president, and the Mortgage Crisis got out of hand, and,...Oh well, you get the picture:
We're convinced all the fraud that's happening (and has happened) will eventually be revealed, and this illogical post-Boomer period will one day be given a historical name. But, until then, all we're left to do is endure and watch and wait - while protecting our own asses as best we can - and hoping the name we've given to our resistance will one day be found as adequate enough to the task. I've noticed this since the night Obama got elected: Liberals don't seem aware when they're winning. Which is fine by me, because I have every intention of burying them when the worm turns (and it always does) so their behavior is nothing I choose to lose sleep over. I already knew they're unhinged. No surprises there.
It is frustrating they never remember what all they do, though. I've had a number of people write in, or e-mail, accusing the right of something that eventually gets exposed as false (like Tea Partiers yelling racial slurs) and who are also completely oblivious to what liberals said and did over the eight Bush years - which included open threats to kill the president - or even the history of the Democratic Party being the home of the KKK's "Dixiecrats". (I wish I could see Democrats, now, as trying to make up for that sordid past but, based on their actions and arguments, I don't: they're just race hustlers and, white, black, or brown, they don't care who they're hustling for as long as it brings the party power. Sadly, I'm finding some of that on the right as well,...) I might not care as much if I thought the Dems were actually helping anyone but - like those great mortgages that have now saddled the poor with huge debts for houses they can't afford to live in - "power to the people" just ain't how the Democratic Party rolls.
O.K., that's enough for this latest example of how great liberals - and especially liberal supporters of Senator Harry Reid - supposedly are.

Of course, now, our big purple dinosaur says he - and Obama - were pushed into doing this by Republicans. How many of these lies, and liars, can you people buy - or stand? Even the highest levels of the entertainment industry have been affected by this crisis. Some studio heads are reportedly down to their last mile or so of beachfront property. There are unconfirmed reports that at Barbra Streisand’s last $50,000 a head Democratic fundraiser some guests were offered non-imported vodka. And industry big shots who once dined on steak and lobster have been reduced to eating raw fish wrapped in seaweed. No, you’re not seeing things– I said raw fish and seaweed!
Let’s say Susan Sarandon is making a movie. She’ll show up on the set or location, probably late, and sit on her lard ass while others do her hair, make-up and clothes and she idles away dreaming up new ways to hate her country.
Meanwhile, a stand-in is working with the crew for lighting and sound checks.
When she’s done being reconstructed, she’ll wander over to the catering table while her personal assistant deflects her phone calls.
Then the big moment; the director summons her, she stands where the stand-in used to be, spouts three or four lines written by someone else and wanders back to the catering table, her three brain cells tightly focused on herself.
Repeat this, on and off, for maybe three months, and after the rest of the crew does the real work of putting the movie together (for a fraction of the pay), you people shovel money at her. Now, because of her underdeveloped mind, she feels entitled, and views you and your country with even more contempt.
And there’s a whole list of names you can substitute for Sarandon.
So while you’re mad at your mortgage company for ripping you off, you at least have a house to show for it. Remember that while you’re gleefully raining money down on a dirt bag celebrity who only jacked you off for ninety minutes.

The price tag for President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration gala is expected to break records, with some estimates reaching as high as $150 million.
Despite the bleak economy, however, Democrats who called on President George W. Bush to be frugal four years ago are issuing no such demands now that an inaugural weekend of rock concerts and star-studded parties has begun.
In 2005, Reps. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., and Jim McDermott, D-Wash., asked Bush to show a little less pomp and be a little more circumspect at his party.
The thinking was that, with the nation at war, excessive celebration was inappropriate. Four years later, the nation is still at war. Unemployment has risen sharply.
And Obama pressed Congress to release the second half of a $700 billion bailout package in hopes of rescuing a faltering banking industry.

Obama's inauguration committee says it is mindful of the times and is not worried people will see the four days of festivities as excessive.
"That is probably not the way the country is going to be looking at it," said committee spokeswoman Linda Douglass.
"It is not a celebration of an election. It is a celebration of our common values."
Douglass said the campaign sought to keep costs down by having the same decorations at each of the 10 balls, eliminating floral arrangements and negotiating prices on food.
"Those at the Obama administration are trying to be reflective of the climate," McDermott's spokesman, Mike DeCeasar, said Saturday.

I'm only putting this up to highlight something that's bothered me for a while now: as all this talk of the "victims" of the mortgage crisis has gone on, with pundits talking about how "Americans have been living outside of their means" and such, one thing has been left out - the utter corruption at the very heart of a good segment of our society. Just listen to this rant about how the people involved were thinking - they were going to play everyone else for suckers!
Are these the folks the rest of America is supposed to feel sorry for? Should we be bailing them out? Should we care at all? They certainly didn't care about those of us who think right and wrong matter, and try to play by the rules.
It's truly a shame that so many so-called "Americans" have lost touch with it's essential character - with it's virtues - with what made it what it is. So many that our entire country has been forced to struggle because they couldn't resist the lure of easy money, easy answers, a search for "suckers" (by the lenders and the buyers) and a herd mentality (cultism?) - as opposed to hard work, individualism, and a desire to do well by your fellow man. And now all of us will have to pay the price, generations maybe, as these assholes re-learn those obvious, timeless, lessons the hard way.
And since so few of them understand the useful concept of shame today, the people who caused this mess will just "move on", thinking whatever happened just "happened", and as long as the Democrats will pin the blame on the Republicans - who tried, repeatedly, to stop it - they're O.K., because nobody's looking at them. But I know history will tell the tale one day.
Still, you'll have to excuse me but, in the meantime, right now - in the present - I'm going to have to go outside and kick something. Hard.
At the October 7 Presidential debate, John McCain said that Barack Obama had encouraged Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make risky loans, and that Mr. Obama was the second largest recipient of campaign cash from the government mortgage giants.
Mr. Obama replied that he "never promoted Fannie Mae" and that "two years ago I said that we've got a subprime lending crisis that has to be dealt with." And that's not all. "I wrote to Secretary Paulson, I wrote to Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke, and told them this is something we have to deal with, and nobody did anything about it," said the Illinois Senator.
There's more. Mr. Obama's March 2007 letter included a stirring call to "assess options" and boldly suggested that the two men "facilitate a serious conversation" about housing. He was even brave enough to suggest that "the relevant private sector entities and regulators" might be able to provide "targeted responses." Then in paragraph four, the Harvard-trained lawyer dropped his bombshell: a suggestion that various interest groups get together to "consider" best practices in mortgage lending.
Some may find it hard to believe that Mr. Obama had nothing to show for this herculean effort to shake up Washington. They may be shocked as well that such passionate language didn't move the Fed and Treasury to action. For our part, we note that nowhere in his letter did Mr. Obama suggest that the government should stop subsidizing loans to people who can't repay them.
