I got through the first four of the five, and I learned very little. Almost all of these people are talking in large abstractions with nothing concrete.
Sure, racism exists. I met a Hispanic guy a few years ago who was trying to explain to me how superior the Mexican "Race" was. Having been one of three white kids in an otherwise all black school, as part of the anti-racism school integration busing program in San Francisco, I can attest many (though not all) of those blacks were racist towards whites. People look different, and our brains react to it. People need to be wary about that.
I now work in Silicon Valley. I'm one of three white guys in a team of about 45, and the other two aren't from this country. All that seems to matter there is how well you do your job. I think that's the way corporations work, so I reject the "poverty" anti-capitalist message of the booming coal mine. Maybe the people of Appalachia would have been better off if the coal mine weren't there.
Regarding the note about cops pulling over blacks more frequently looking for drugs, yeah, I agree that's something that's generally wrong. I'm not sure the claim that whites more often have drugs is true, simply because of the general stats of black crime are so high. As someone said in the talk, the right way is to look for evidence of crime. But, on the other hand, if you are trying to solve a crime, you go with the probability. I got sucked up watching the ID channel, and when there is a murder of a woman, you look first to her husband/boyfriend. That's some kind of ism, isn't it? But it makes sense. You go with the probabilities, and you would be foolish not to.
Meanwhile, while it was effective, I was opposed to NY stop and frisk.
With Asians doing so well, I think its time to stop looking in the rear view mirror. The big failure of the housing crisis shows red-lining was a red herring, and the laws to force more minority inclusion in housing loans not only failed as most of those who couldn't get loans before ended up losing their homes, but also it nearly bankrupt the country.
My personal view is this country needs to get back to the nuclear family. The destruction of the nuclear family is having a massive destructive effect on America. I think these people I listened to should spend more time thinking about that.
I'm not saying there is no racism. Of course there is, and I suspect there always will be.
I'll leave you with this thought. Barrack Obama is violating the constitution. The most effective way to deal with him would be to impeach him. It's warranted, in my view. The courts are too slow to compel him to abide by the constitution.
But, there is no way impeachment is going to happen. Imagine what that would do to race relations in this country. If he were white, it would be OK to do it.
How about, we stop focusing on race, and start focusing on culture.
