So, another of the few blacks chosen - by 9-11 Truther, Tea Party, and "colorblind" racists alike - as "much more intelligent" than the rest of us, commits hari-kari using a falafel:

And we all thank him for it. Look, if that horrible book photo didn't end his political career, then he needed to do this, because *something* had to - he and that stupid motorcycle helmet are as useless to blacks, today, as Booker T. Washington before him.

Spock-Like Powers

Former Congressman Allen West (Florida): the former congressman who compared the Democrats to Josef Goebbles and worried about Obama supports being a “threat to the gene pool” last month left his post as the director of programming for the conservative news aggregator Pajamas Media under allegations of anti-Semitism. He claimed that he was moving on voluntarily “to pursue political aspirations.” So keep an eye out.

I'm Gagging A Lot (But Not From Laying Down So Long)

Conservatives always seem to have a soft spot for blacks who toe the line. Allen West, all of them. Then, conservatives "get" it. Oh, trying to reason with liberals and blacks, it must be murder.

And so it is. I've been in some pretty hairy situations, just for being with people who everyone assumes I should be down with, but I've surprised them with the other guy's point of view. 

What conservatives don't understand is, they're no picnic, either. 

See, if I'm with a group of liberals and blacks, and I tout the conservative outlook, eventually I'll find some heads nodding in agreement, maybe looking at each other searchingly, and asking a few - or many - questions. Conservatives rarely ask questions. Here's what I get from my conservative "friends" - and this is regarding the two bulging spinal discs they know I now have in my neck and lower back:

I know - it's confusing, and complicated, but make the best of it and let that stand as my current explanation for why:

A) I'm still a Republican.

And B) I think conservatives, too, are in need of serious help,...

The Cops Hear "There's A Black Man In My House" Much Too Often For The Message Not To Be Get Crystal Clear

I find it fascinating when looking at blacks conservatives really like - Thomas Sowell, Shelby Steele, Allen West, etc. - their popularity is in direct correlation to their public rejection of what most blacks find important. That idea's been the basis of this entire rant I'm on - that I was told I can't think, for instance, that George Zimmerman acted in self-defense but still like the Hip-Hop culture Trayvon Martin was immersed in. For me personally - facing the ferociousness of the anti-Trayvon attack - that was a step too far, kids. 

Don't get me wrong - I love you and black conservatives. Everybody has made me think, long and hard, about the issues facing blacks and the country. But here's the ugly truth: 

You don't listen to me (We had to have Romney, right? Savior of the Party?) so I no longer expect you to grasp why that handful of conservative black outliers don't define or represent blacks to me, not even a little bit. 

This Trayvon experience - which I was completely unprepared for - has made it clear we are "black" Americans, with Africa as our mother and slavery as our father, trying to make a home for ourselves:

The problem with integrating into the mainstream is that it’s not very embracing of ethnicity. Cultural food, clothing, language, hair styles, and other elements that make a people unique, don’t always have a place in what many consider the ‘American standard’.

And let’s be real, by mainstream I’m talking about an idea of White America.  The reason I say ‘idea’ of White America is because many families that now consider themselves white shed their French, Italian, German, Scandinavian, Polish, British, Irish, Scottish, Portuguese and Spaniard ethnicities in order to embrace that ‘idea’. And not to generalize, some still celebrate their ancestry, but many treat ethnicity as something foreign or ‘old world’.

Not quite the case with African-Americans. Though we’ve been in America for centuries, our ethnicity is as much a part of us as the heavy dose of melanin in our skin (everybody has it, we have a lot).  Part of it is by choice, but most of it is probably because ‘Our Skin don’t fit In’.   Don’t get me wrong, we have made our way into the mainstream, but  we as a people love our food, dress, linguistic flavors, hair styles and other aspects that make us unique.  So African-Americans aren’t going to shed their ethnicity anytime soon like other groups have in this country.

Here it is, plain:

When denied the ability to even stay in a house, you'd better be comfortable in your skin.

You know, like once a year, when I'm supposed to run around screaming, "Kiss Me - I'm Irish!"

 

The Worst Thing A Black Conservative Can Be Is Black

Oh, Heavens! You mean it's happening amongst Democrats, too! Somebody make it stop! Yeah - blacks are non-persons, especially with the likes of those two, only trotted out when they have a point to make, usually benefitting themselves. (I don't even know who this black senator is so, clearly, making him known - before now - has been the Right's top priority, correct?) And, of course, they now want we "non-persons" to do what they won't, and wade into a black mob and start causing trouble. You know, like their hero, Allen West, would do if he was there:

Hmmm. West seemed to have lost his nerve or something. Somehow - whether it's Glenn Reynolds or his readers and associates - I don't think that's the kind of "speaking truth to power" they had in mind.

I mean, I know from experience, they definitely don't appreciate it when they're the power being spoken to - well, they appreciate whatever means are at their disposal to shut it down (like their challengers are black senators!) - but they don't appreciate being put on the spot for THEIR nonsense.

Ooh, those damned Democrats are crowing at the political demise of an enemy - and that makes them racists! How dare they? It just makes Glenn so mad he'll say anything! He put all his support behind Allen West and Mia Love and they still lost. Boo-hoo. I've already told you what makes me mad:

With the exception of Colin and Condy, Republicans keep bringing up individual black people the rest can't stand.

But Glenn won't link to that. So his readers can't consider it. 

And then, maybe, get mad at Glenn - or even themselves - for being so insular.

Yes: The Liberals Are Showing A Little Moxy - At Tea Party Events (And Very, Very Desperate)

Immediately after Allen West took the stage at his Town Hall meeting on Tuesday Evening in Fort Lauderdale, several hecklers began to jeer and interrupt his remarks, forcing West to pause several times. Police were ultimately forced to removed one of the hecklers. When the hecklers refused to stop their harassment, West stated, “You’re not going to intimidate me.”

Nicole Sandler, formerly of Air America, was sitting behind Congressman Allen West’s wife. Sandler had been acting in a disruptive and combative manner by yelling at the Congressman and even harrassing his wife, before being asked to leave and escorted out of the event by Fort Lauderdale Police. As she was being removed from the proceedings, Sandler continued her tirade and used an expletive to address a police officer, which resulted in the officer arresting the woman for trespassing.

Air America? The radio show? These people are becoming unhinged. What's next? Janeane Garofalo attacks Michelle Bachmann with a crowbar? Whatever. Brace yourselves, folks. They smell the coffee now:

You Can Be Black (But Must Be The Right Kind)

We'll let Hot Air explain this clusterfuck:

Civil Rights Icon John Lewis, admitting he didn’t know the facts of the case, proceeded to defend Charlie Rangel against his ethics violations by dredging up Rangel’s involvement in the Civil Rights movement. I guess the facts of the case or rather the actual ethics violations themselves don’t matter to John Lewis if you are one of his friends. Yet Allen West says that while he was being viciously attacked during his recent campaign, having his social security number mailed to all of his constituents and being accused of being a member of an all white motorcycle gang, that John Lewis came down and campaigned against him, supporting the man who was playing the race card and egregiously smearing him. West sees this as duplicitous and asks if instead of defending Charlie Rangel, Lewis should have stood on character.

West also has strong words for the Congressional Black Caucus that he criticizes for ‘preaching victimization and dependency’ while supporting ‘liberal social welfare policies that are failing in the black community’.

With Barack Obama in office, especially, a lot of blacks are having a hard time knowing who or what is in their interest - and who or what ain't - here's a hint:

Anyone who proved he was a disaster specifically for black people, before he got into office, probably wasn't a good choice for blacks to follow and pledge undying support.

So now comes Allen West, a former military man from Florida who's not likely to maw-maw any kind of black (or white) line, but to do what's right based on what'll get results. Will black people take a real look at him? Or will they, as the CBC is doing, recoil from criticism merely because that's what it is? Honestly, we don't know. But we'll tell our fellow blacks this much, before they start the (expected) "Uncle Tom" talk - or as Barack (and the rest of the usual suspects) sink the country even further in debt - which will always hurt those at the bottom first:

It's only your friends who will tell you.
