If Ever There Was A Time To Ask "Who Watches The Watchmen?" I Think That Moment Has Finally Arrived

 And we can hear you:

Leave it to good ol' Pajamas Media to ask the important question Can a Conservative Be An Atheist? and not ask a conservative atheist, but a religious guy who thinks conservatism is "spiritual".

Two points this atheist conservative will make:

 1) If conservatism is "spiritual", then please stop trying to impress me with the difference between it and liberalism because there is none - you're both a bunch of loonies I can't vote for.

 2) This explains Mitt Romney's weirdo candidacy - and loss - better than anything I've heard so far.

And have you noticed how answers to important questions have to be gleaned from what the idiots say - on other topics? They were never this straight-forward when the burning post-election issue was "Why did Mitt Romney become our candidate?"

Nobody ever said "Because there's essentially a 'spiritual' component to conservatism that makes us drift to scumbags selling homeopathy who think they'll rule other planets after death."

This has to come out in a dialogue - supposedly about atheism - by two people who aren't atheists. (They didn't even have the integrity to invite a conservative atheist to join them, so how reliable are their opinions?)

Whatev. It's all O.K., I guess, being PJ Media

I figured out they were crazy, on my own, a long time ago,...

Ready For Our Close-Up: Time To Fund Con Art

That's right - it's a crime (and a shame) the Right's con artists (conservative artists) have to keep making this point ourselves:
[If] some deep pocket conservative [could] pull together 90 of the most brilliant conservative creatives, [and] pay them a living wage,...we could BURY the left.
That's iOwnTheWorld's Big Fur Hat. I'm not sure what's up with his punctuation there, but he's responding to the news that - with 90 staff members and George Soros' money - the Liberal Media Matters is transforming itself into a “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” outfit, set to attack Fox News and a handful of conservative websites (BFH: "Please. Pick US! PICK US!!!!" - LOL) and Big Fur Hat is correct:

I've said many times the Right isn't utilizing it's artists, only to be met with some stupid cry that it's only out of self-interest that I'd even bring it up, when I can do the art above, and make music, and more. Any claim that I'm looking for a handout is bullshit - I'm an artist - and I want in this fight on my playing field.

But making the time to create good art takes money.

It's hilarious, and sad, the Right can find money for some lame Mary Katharine Ham thing, or Reason TV's expose's, or the many projects of Pajamas Media (which all play, pretty exclusively, to the conservative base) but - when it comes to being really creative - the Right can't find time or money for anything better than this:

And not only is that lame, but, even worse - they're happy to fund it! Like it's good! There is absolutely no reason for allowing that to be the face of the Right, or allowing the Left to dominate the arts, when there are creative conservatives out there - and conservatives with money - to get the ball rolling. It wouldn't even take 90 of us - the staff of iOwnTheWorld and TMR could handle the load alone! So TMR is joining iOwnTheWorld in calling out to "Trump, Koch, Murdoch", and Andrew Breitbart, Roger L. Simon (with that stupid hat) and all the rest - come along for the ride:

It's time to release the hounds!

Only Your Friends Will Tell You: Pajamas Media

To say TMR has a love/hate relationship with Pajamas Media would be an understatement (as our frequent comments about Glenn Reynolds' Instapundit make clear - more on that in a minute). But, by far, the strongest voice in their conservative empire is Bill Whittle (above) with his scorecard for the first half of President Obama's time in office being a(nother) fine example why they matter so much to us.

On the other hand, it seems that no matter what they do, they always have a tendency for screwing it up - a charge we're sure Professor Reynolds would throw back at us in a heartbeat - and the video, above, is a perfect example of what we mean:

Hey, folks, what the hell happened to Afterburner?

Whittle's work is still outstanding, but that dramatic 21st century opening to Bill Whittle's commentary - which closed with a single arresting fading synth tone - was perfection for what he does. So why the name change (to Firewall) and those cheesy-looking flame thrower graphics?

They did the same thing (minus the name change) to Andrew Klavan's Klaven On The Culture. Here's the old opening, with the program's multi-televisioned theme, which was brilliant:

And here's the new idea - featuring Klavan's signature - which is boring and, basically, sucks:

Why, guys? Don't you realize, like any painter would, that when you get something right you're supposed to stop painting? Do you see 60 Minutes (which these two PJTV segments remind us of) abandoning the stop watch?

And - if you're going to tinker with anything - why can't you get the boss, Roger L. Simon, to get rid of that damned hat? Aren't you all in this together? What's the matter with you?

And what happened to Alfonzo Rachel (AKA Zo/Macho Sauce)? He started off as smart, street, funny, angry, content-laden and ultraconservative, only to go to PJTV and become this:

The Rolling Stones? Are you kidding? There go the majority of black viewers. And his stuff has never really recovered.

Speaking of black viewers, we have no problem - yet - with either:

Sonja Schmidt,...

...or Joe Hicks' segments, though we miss "The Hicks File", which seems to have been replaced by the "Minority Report". Can't PJTV just have two winning segments by Joe?

The segments that aren't working are Trifecta (boring) Kruiser Control (not funny) Ed Driscoll (too funny looking and with a bizarre speaking voice) and yes, our ol' pal, Mr. Deer-In-The-Headlights himself, Glenn Reynolds (told you we'd get there - read on:)

Believe it or not, we love Glenn Reynolds. We think Instapundit provides an invaluable public service and deserves to be the catalyst/gathering spot for the Tea Party Movement that it is. As we've said many times, we've been honored when he's linked to our pieces, and been awed by the power he welds online. But,...but,...but,..

Awww, for once, no "buts" - like Pajamas Media itself, we find Reynolds frustrating because he's so good. Not always to our taste, but still damned good.

May he, and everyone at Pajamas Media, carry on for a long, long time.

I'm An Optical Illusion (I'm Running Backwards)

I can't keep up. Actually, that's not true - what I can't do is fall back far enough to run with the pack.

Like an African marathoner, I've been way out in front, screaming, "We should stop talking about race!" but, since I wasn't calm about it (because the discussion was about me) all it got me was doping accusations.

Now, coming up fast on my heels is Roger L. Simon, CEO of Pajamas Media, with this:
"No more race…. No more race….Am I the only one who is feeling this way? I don’t think so. In fact I rather suspect I am in a majority. If there’s one thing most of us don’t want to hear about now, whatever color we are, it’s race.

Eric Holder had it all wrong (as he does about a fair number of things these days) when he said we don’t have the courage to talk about race. It’s the reverse. We don’t have the courage to NOT talk about it."
Then, of course (and, again, showing why I'm so many steps ahead) he goes NewAge on us:
"Like monks at a Zen monastery told by their abbot to STFU until further notice, we need nothing more than a solid dose of enforced silence about race. The minute we mention the “R” word we should be clapped on the back by the abott’s hardwood stick and made to sit endless hours in the lotus position — without a cushion."
As much as I like the acknowledgment that peaceful Zen Buddhist monks say shit like "Shut The Fuck Up" - swearing being another supposed sin of mine - I swear (Ha!) the hypocrisy of how I get treated, by the important people (even conservatives) intimately familiar with the inner workings of monasteries, is galling.

You see, I've written to Simon, but he never writes back - probably because I'm an angry black kook - an angry black kook who's sick of hearing people talking about my race. I'm also sick of Americans talking about the French as a solution to our problems (they did encourage us to elect Obama, after all) but, like Shirley Sherrod trying to contact Tom Vilsack, whenever I contacted Simon, "I kept saying: 'Look at the entire thing. Look at my message,' and no one would listen. No one would listen." And he still isn't:
"There is another way to look at it: Years ago I heard about a treatment used by French psychiatrists to circumvent decades of painstaking and overpriced psychoanalysis. They would put highly troubled neurotics in the hospital and, instead of giving them the “talking cure” or some other treatment, they would just make them go to sleep for two weeks. (I’m not sure that was the precise length, but you get the idea.) When they awoke they would be all better (or close).

That’s the way I feel about race.

I know this sounds a tad sarcastic but actually I think it’s true. The best way to deal with America’s race problem at this precise moment in history is to shut up about it. Everybody. Including me."
Good idea, Monsieur. And, with all due respect, eat my dust.

Another popular topic with Pajamas Media and I has been the culture war. Dr. Helen Smith once asked:
"Where is Conservative Culture? Is there no creativity today among those who lean right? If so, where can you find it?"
Needless to say, I answered in the comments - twice - trying anything to be part of this, but the result was the sound of crickets.

So much for blacks taking initiative.

It doesn't matter to PJM that I'm a conservative who's been repeatedly called a musical genius, or that it's liberals - the very people whose minds we're trying to change - who gave me that designation. No, what matters is that the best artist to start the conservative's cultural revolution kow-tow to their behavior code in my writings:

A code they themselves break whenever they feel like it.

Now don't get me wrong - I love Pajamas Media and Roger L. Simon (hate the hat, though) Dr. Helen and Glenn Reynolds, etc. - but they make me tired.

Like Pajamas Media, I fight the good fight for conservatism, but, along with that, I also have been fighting, almost broke and alone, against the scourge of NewAge, cultism, misandry, race, the culture war, and more, and it's draining.

Some days I honestly feel like I can't go on.

Nobody is but, if you ask me, that's the only reason why anybody even appears to be catching up.

You Can't Stop The Signal

He's done it again:

Bill Whittle has another brilliant break-down for you - filled with more amazing analysis and more-than-a-bit of restrained rage - which I appreciate because he's saying many of the things I've stressed, and you should hear, in just that manner. What manner is that?

The Macho Response.

Check it out.

Shut Up

"Yesterday, at a rally for R. Creigh Deeds in Virginia, President Obama said: 'I don't want the folks who created the mess do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking.'

For Barack Obama, democracy appears to be a distraction. He really does seem to view himself as a Caesar.

Shortly after taking office, Obama held a meeting with governors. At the time, one person in the room relayed Obama's request that critics and skeptics of the stimulus plan keep their concerns to themselves. Just let me do it, was his attitude. He got pushback and he wasn't happy. He wanted democratically elected state governors to shut up so he could do as he pleased. He knows better and we should respect that, seems to be the attitude.
."
-- Kathryn Jean Lopez, relaying the liberal message far and wide - SHUT UP - for The National Review.

And Glenn Reynolds adds:
"What would the reaction be if a Republican President said this?"
To which I reply, "You don't want to know,...but let's find out."

The Macho Response: Bill Whittle

The man you see above is probably the strongest, most lucid, and convincing voice for conservatism today (next to my own, of course).

Check out his latest rant for reason - advocating for the kind of political combat I call The Macho Response - on PajamasTV:

The Media, The Left and GOP Elitists vs. Sarah Palin: A Lesson on How to Destroy a Leader

It's very, very good television.

We Got Your American Idol Right Here

So we knew it was going to happen for Pajamas TV, but this new one with Zo Rachel, "Zo Rachel Presents: Letterman, Palin and a topless Drew Barrymore" (which is Zo's really welcome return to Macho Sauce form), is now starting to round out what's been steadily becoming some very powerful conservative programming.

Try this:

Click on the link above and watch the clip. It's a three minute serving of prime conservatism, served on a really nice platter.

Then scroll down and watch both of Bill Whittle's pieces on media bias.

And, finally, there's Andrew Klavan's critique of liberalism, "Shut Up".

Not too shabby. Pajamas TV has (a little) more decent entertainment, but mostly it's still a lot of stupid talking head crap nobody should want to watch - unless, of course, you want to use boredom as a lethal weapon. If that's the case, be our guest.

But there is some good stuff going on over there, and if Pajamas TV would just stop wasting their efforts on wheel-spinning pseudocelebrity bullshit (we don't feel like going there tonight, folks: waaay too tired) Pajamas TV could really have something.

That's what we think, anyway.
