I mean, I get it, how it all "works."

How large groups of misguided people find themselves put in-charge every once in a while.

Until they're not.

 

 

  Ellen DeGeneres Addresses ‘Getting Kicked Out of Show Business’ on Her New Comedy Tour, but, apparently, says nothing about her relationship with her psychic, who - after supposedly predicting she'd get a popular show - hasn't explained how it's brutal and ruthless ending, at the hands of her formally-adoring public, came without any warning. 

Like the whole thing was some kind of cosmic set-up for a fall.

SIDEBAR: 'I escaped an evil cult lead by my dad when I was 19 years old — but I still love him' - and I hear-the-fuck-out of that. He wasn't predicting the future or anything.

DOUBLE SIDEBAR: Tom Cruise may view his daughter Suri as a 'potential trouble source,' showing how the opposite, of this sort of thing, just sorta "happens."

Anyway, yesterday, the left's SFGate noted San Francisco's Union Square is emptier than ever, when, on the conservative side, the media's also been saying It's a Miracle Anything Gets Built in San Francisco. This is long after TMR noted - in 2007 - "blacks have been leaving, like Jews from Nazi Germany, for years". Needless to say, the media's recent powers of observation suck. No matter how many eyes they claim to have. 

Just as people who are older than the Jesus myth have been ignored, or met with abuse and scorn by Christians, an exodus of blacks meant nothing to the future of San Francisco, or the cool kids on the left or right. They think what they think, and have the power to enforce it. Over reality. 

Today they say things like The Trump trial brings out the juvenile in all of us, when it's now obvious "all of us" has exclusively meant the wicked witch's flying monkeys, who find such things "funny."

Blacks don't, and are flocking to Trump - despite everything. It may not last. As Camille Paglia noted - with the exception of Oprah & Co - "It is a striking fact that few,...African-Americans joined cults."

Speaking of blacks, on a side note, a Houston restaurant employee has been accused of putting his genitals in food items, and possessing child pornography, and - as blacks - we couldn't be prouder. Way to go, Champ. All of our hopes and dreams as a people have come true. Wait - a black Maryland High school athletic director is accused of using AI to fake a racist rant in the voice of his school's white principal? I take it all back. I have seen the future. This is TMR's new idol.

Back to currently ignored observations: Warner Bros. Sets Release Date for Documentary About Real-Life The Zone of Interest Family, because, still, no one (else) has admitted that Oct. 7th was The Zone of Interest, but with the Quentin Tarantino-twist of Gaza's concentration camp victims, suddenly leaping over the wall to murder their captors.

Also, articles that say things like My generation doesn’t know why the heck they’re protesting for Palestine ignore the fact that - when confronted with people who do know - nobody cares about what they have to say. The media just enjoys addressing know-nothings for sport.

Or the woman who believes her own "royalty" is based, in-part, on her mom's role as a yoga instructor.

Never forget that famous photo of Germany's "Happy Nazis". They, too, somehow thought they were "special": standing by astrology and the occult, taking their homeopathic concoctions - even performing a daily yoga practice - all while overseeing the round-up of Jews for the ovens.

Remember the height of American television programming? When Montel, and Oprah and Ellen and all the other reality TV con men had our country awash in X-Files nonsense - while crushing the weak and vulnerable at their most exposed, right before our eyes? Man, that was a wonderful time.

Unless you weren't buying any of it.

Then - despite the fact this wasn't the 70's, no one was wearing bell bottoms, and we'd seen this cult stuff all before - skeptics were labeled "energy vampires" to be shunned for not having an "open mind." These people said so, and also said others should do so, right on television and radio. To applause. This way, the leadership could view and use those inside, and outside, NewAge's circle as prey.

I remember those times vividly because, for me, this wasn't stuff that stayed behind our TV screens. This was part of what Grrrl Power! meant and means and, for some reason, nobody wants to do an investigation on that and what harm it's caused.

Nobody really wants to report on any of it because, like the discovery of a "real U.F.O." or proof that homeopathy works, I think the revelation would turn the entire known universe - including the question of who has been America's good and bad actors - upside down. Completely. Hell, considering the quality of names, crimes, and just plain bologna, it might even sell some newspapers. You know, get us going again.

 So lookee here - this is,...interesting.

The New York Times did a puff piece on David Lynch and his TM cult (what else?) but what's cool is they also included a chart (above) of who's in it, and - whouldn't you know - all the media's major movers and shakers are in there:

The David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace may focus on teaching meditation techniques to at-risk children and soldiers suffering from PTSD. But Lynch has had a significant impact in his own industry. Some of the foundation's recent initiates are shown above.

So, as I've always told you, if you're ever trying to discover why Oprah, Ellen, Dr. Oz, Susan Sarandon, George Stephanopoulos, Candy Crowley and all the rest are spoon-feeding us what seems like a mutli-pronged but singular message (feminism, gays, save the planet, soul mates, etc.) and who it's really coming from, we might now know who one of their biggest cult leaders in America is:

Eraserhead. 

Now, let's not forget who David Lynch is. I've done a lot of work on Lynch, and I'm not alone. But first, the blog for people who've escaped the cult, TMFree, led me to the NYT article and they have a few things to say about it:

Longtime TM Initiator-Governor Bobby Roth, currently employed by David Lynch’s foundation, carefully cultivates celebrity TMers. Like high profile celebrities in other cult-like groups, TM celebrities are sheltered from the dysfunctions, demands, psychosis and poverty experienced by many rank and file TM devotees.

This is what I'm now calling "The Instapundit/Ann Althouse (& Meade) Effect". It's when you dispense misinformation without a care for it's effects on others you exploit. ("You've got your good thing, and you've got mine.") Here's some more from TMFree:

On March 4, 2013 John Horgan pubished for his Scientific American “Cross-Check” blog “Do All Cults, Like All Psychotherapies, Exploit the Placebo Effect?” referring to Hoffman’s article, above. 

Horgan offers a short discussion of the placebo effect, followed by an explanation of destructive cults.  He closes his essay “The more you believe in the uniquely transformative power of your cult, the more you get out of it. The only price you have to pay is your rationality.” 

A few days later, on March 8, Horgan offered another essay critiquing TM’s research, in response to the True Believer comments on his first TM expose’ post, “Research on TM and Other Forms of Meditation Stinks”.

Anyway - back to David Lynch. If you truly want to see him in action, you have to check out the film, David Wants To Fly, where Lynch shows the venality in his heart and that of his program. I've told you what it's about - Naziism - and the Germans saw it clearly when Lynch spoke there:

"The flap those words created, with their echoes of the Third Reich, reveals both the deadly seriousness with which Germans view their wartime past and the gulf separating Lynch's new-age agenda from that of some hard-bitten Berliners with a more historical mind-set.”

 Yeah, don't anybody dare remember where the phrase "Mind/Body/Spirit" came from. (Has anybody else noticed that hasn't ever been a news item?) And the fact the Nazis were doing yoga while maintaining concentration camps for undesirables, like me, who didn't want to practice that or homeopathy.

Love you, Anga! (So much like "anger"!) I have repeatedly made the argument that NewAge is Naziism and believers get away with their crimes because they seem "nice" to others (and I will continue to make that argument) but now there's a new book in France that makes my argument for me:

The history of French collaboration with Nazi Germany during World War II is still a very sensitive subject in Gallic literary and political circles. Bestselling novelist Alexandre Jardin has learned this the hard way with the publication of "Des Gens Très Bien" (or "Very Nice People"), a startling exposé of his famous family's association with Nazism under the Vichy government of Marshal Philippe Pétain.

Mr. Jardin's new book, published in January by Grasset and available only in French, mixes the confessional genre with biography, history and narrative, and has sold hundreds of thousands of copies since its release. The author now finds himself accosted daily by perturbed readers desperate to unburden themselves about their own "collabos" ancestors. Yet critical reactions in the Parisian press have veered from occasional plaudits to often vicious attacks from across the ideological spectrum. The trouble for these academics and baby boomers alike is that in his work, Mr. Jardin not only denounces his respected paternal grandfather, but by extension all the other "very nice people" of wartime France.

NewAgers are proponents of the concept of "duality", where there is no right or wrong (as long as they're happy!) and they maintain this through delusion, or an escape from reality - but there is no escape:

"After 70 years I thought we could start to recognize the reality of our families and how they behaved during the war," Mr. Jardin tells me in an interview from Paris. "The core of the problem is that I have not spoken about monsters. My grandfather was not a monster. I have spoken about what 'very nice people' did in France when they accepted collaboration with Nazism. I did not realize I would provoke such anger. So long as we were putting authentic monsters on trial—like Maurice Papon for example—no one was worried. But to lift the lid on the question of the responsibility of people who were 'moral' during the collaboration has totally panicked French society."

The reaction to Mr. Jardin's book tells us as much about France as does the work itself. As Mr. Jardin observes, "It expressed something very powerful inside French society: the desire to protect the honor of our families, while in reality the large majority in France were behind Pétain during the Second World War. . . . With the liberation, France threw herself behind Gaullism with such fervor because we were ashamed of our behavior. He [de Gaulle] offered us his glory. . . it seemed to me that 70 years on we could tear up this pact and come to terms with reality. But this has provoked incredible emotion."

Most historians, and renowned Nazi hunter Serge Klarsfeld, remain unmoved, pointing to Mr. Jardin's lack of archival proof. But Mr. Jardin has at least one powerful supporter for his claim that Jean was fully aware of the atrocity of July 1942.

"A few weeks ago I found myself around a table at the Elysée with [French President Nicolas] Sarkozy, at a lunch with three writers and a journalist and a historian," Mr. Jardin recounts. "The historian suddenly said to me: 'But you don't have a lot of proof against your grandfather; [Mr.] Sarkozy got up out of his chair, cut her off and said 'Madame, I have had a lot of chiefs of staff.' He gave her a lesson explaining that a chief of staff was nothing like a government departmental head. It was evident listening to [Mr.] Sarkozy that the prime minister's chief of staff could not but be intimately associated with the decision.

All the same, in Mr. Jardin's telling, the historian insisted that "'that did not constitute proof.'" Then, "[Mr.] Sarkozy's temperature rose and he said something incredible which came from his gut: 'Madame if I asked [French Interior Minister and Mr. Sarkozy's former chief of staff] Claude Guéant to organize a round-up of 13,000 Jews next week in Paris, whatever the circumstances, I know Claude would resign. His [Mr. Jardin's] grandfather did not resign.' Then [Mr.] Sarkozy turned to me and said: 'I don't understand why there is a polemic.'"

As Mr. Jardin sees it, a certain moral code, exemplified by his "loyal" grandfather, was crucial to the Vichy machine. "In the end it was not at all necessary to be a monster to participate in the worst. There was an anti-Semitism of the state. Men like my grandfather were prepared to do absolutely anything to preserve a little fragment of national sovereignty," Mr. Jardin observes. "They preferred that the French police came to arrest Jewish families rather than let the German police do it. It is disturbing. In any case in my family there has not been any [feeling of] guilt after the war. My grandfather had the feeling of having done good. It is incredible."

Incredible, indeed. And this is what we live with today - with the Oprah's and the Ellen's, Huffington's and Knight's, the Deepak's and Hay's and the Ray's and Maclaine's - the unending idea that, no matter what harm they and their "beliefs" have brought to other's lives, they are somehow doing good. Hell, even psychics who are busted in crimes, red handed, claim as much. But, one day, this, too, will all be exposed as a lie.

And, like France, the entire society that protected and promoted them will be determined to be complicit.

So enjoy it while it lasts, people - smile! These are the good times!
