Salon.com - Baked (On That NYT Cake): Bringing Home The Bacon

Speaking of forgettable things I'd rather not face, AGAIN, Salon.com is back to the journalistically unimportant job of reminding me "Donald Trump's a total pig" - like that's something likely to slip my mind after 40 years of watching him.

Bill Clinton being a pedophile AND a long-confirmed rapist of Juanita Broderick bothers them not - even in an election year - nor does Hillary, covering for that, all these decades (the party sincerely believes she should be rewarded, with the keys to the White House, for that service).

Democrat donor, Ed Buck, being a drug-addicted murderer of black men, is also of little-to-no concern. A real vote-getter for the Black Lives Matter crowd.

Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, and Anthony Weiner, alone - what do their combined contributions to criminality compare to a man caught (in an act of betrayal by NBCadmitting women let rich guys "grab 'em by the pussy"?

And, are the Democrats even TRYING to be a better party, than Trump is a pig? Not on their life.

They just want to stand before me - covered in shit - swearing HE'S smelling up the joint.

And the whole thing stinks.

Listen Here, Satan, You And I Have Got To Have Ourselves A Little Talk About The NYT,...

To kill a man, Alejandro Gallegos García explains, all you need is a black cloth doll, some thread, a human bone and a toad. Oh, and you must ask the devil permission, in person, at a cave in the hills where he is said to appear.

Assuming you have these things, plus the green light from the prince of darkness, you simply lash the doll to the bone, shove it down the unfortunate toad’s throat, sew up its lips and take the whole mess to a graveyard, reciting the proper words.

“The person will die within 30 days,” Mr. Gallegos said matter of factly, as if he were talking of fixing a broken carburetor. (The toad dies too, by the by.)

“There exists good and bad in the world, there exists the devil and God,” he went on, turning a serpent’s fang in his rough fingers. “I work in white magic and in black magic. But there are people who dedicate themselves only to evil.”

From James C. McKinley's article on witchcraft in Mexico, which appeared in The New York Times. (1950's style portrait of "Satan" by The Crack Emcee)

Just a few thoughts on this piece: why does The New York Times keep feeding us this kind of shit? Is their credibility so shot full of holes they just don't care about their reputation anymore? I mean, if I needed to read the words of some idiot from Mexico, talking some "Mary Window in the bathroom" bullshit, can't I just give a fucking illegal immigrant some bad acid and cut out the middleman? Do I really need a newspaper for this? They're not going to do anything about it, so why bother covering it? And, considering this exact same type of scam was just debunked in India (which I notice the NYT didn't bother covering, just as they don't do anything on the work of James Randi or any other skeptics) isn't the NYT just announcing it's editors are as gullible as the next fool?

Next, in the article, they say this bullshit artist, Alejandro Gallegos García, "melds European and native traditions in his work, a special brew of occultism he learned from his uncle." Got that? They said it: "occultism". So there is a world-wide cadre of believers in the occult - it's not just my imagination - and it's got European traditions (also not just my imagination). One guy, Héctor Betaza Domínguez (who calls himself a "“master of occult sciences") says "people come to see him from all over Mexico and from major cities in the United States" so I ain't imagining what I'm finding, here, either. Why isn't the NYT asking hard questions about that shit? What are these people doing? Why do we allow these fruit loops to move amongst us, anonymously, spreading their nonsense and messing up the lives of people who are unaware of what they do? Check out this quote from the same article:

The Rev. Tomás Alonso Martínez has the unenviable job of parish priest in a town best known as a haunt of the devil and witches. “It’s farce,” he said, “a lie, a fraud.”

In his five years in Catemaco, Father Martínez says he has seen so-called witches practice all sorts of confidence schemes, extracting money from gullible and vulnerable people.

One common trick is to tell someone he is hexed and then remove the hex for a fee. Another is to tell people they are sick, then offer them a traditional cure for an outlandish sum.

“They attribute to themselves power they cannot have,” the priest said. “The fundamental problem that exists with these people is that there are people who believe them. Anyone can set themselves up as a witch.”

Got it? These are criminals, who prey on the gullible, but nobody goes after them. So they freely cause all kinds of havoc in the lives of the innocent - the "collateral damage" - the people who don't know their friends, family members, whoever, are indulging in this nonsense and funding quackery, criminality, and domestic mayhem. The cost to individual lives, not to mention society, has to be enormous.

This whole enterprise - the article, the "practitioners", the gullible - make me sick to my stomach. Good people are getting hurt. But all it means to the likes of the NYT is a chance to run another "human interest" story. The bastards:

Newspaper investigations used to also be known for doing some good.

Oh, No, No, Mon Ami: This Is Not Done!

"As for John McCain's supposed extra-marital "romantic" relationship a decade ago with an attractive lobbyist more than 30 years his junior, who cares?

In other words, Americans care,...less about infidelity itself, especially at the level of innuendo or rumor."

- Roger Cohen (above) the New York Times' writer for the International Herald Tribune, suggesting that - since Americans didn't buy his paper's lie about a McCain affair - we've become like the French, who he (correctly) describes as "cynical, incorrigible, suave and hypocritical", all traits those at the Times can identify with.

Look, give me a break. This is even sillier than the Frank Rich column I just read that suggests Hillary's loss has parallels to the war in Iraq. (Rich, above, at least, correctly identified Bill Clinton as a major source of irritation, even if he failed to recognize Hillary Clinton as the main problem in her own right.) But what these three NYT columns show us - and it's the reason I love the smoke-clearing clarity of election years - is this:

The New York Times, our so-called "paper of record", plays favorites and, consequently, is completely out of touch with reality - and has been for quite a long time.

Like the San Francisco Chronicle, the NYT can blame their dwindling readership on online reading habits all they want, but, the truth is, both papers appear to be insane to anyone who really appreciates news and/or wants something worthwhile to chew over in the morning. Instead, they offer nonsensical Leftist talking points, which they try to sell as mainstream American views and values, and then blame the news-hungry public when we won't eat the rancid ideological meat they throw at us. It's really outrageous.

First of all, we are nothing like the French. I'm from South Central, Los Angeles. I have none of that (above) in me. I don't even feel comfortable speaking French because all that poo-poo, la-la, coo-coo, nonsense just sounds gay. If any Americans are really like the French, they look like this:

And if American sex lives were filled with adultery, and the other forms of selfish chaos the French excel at, they'd look like this:

And, seriously, that's no way to be at-all. Conclusion:

Fuck the New York Times. They're full of shit. If they think we're going to buy stupid crap like this, they really must be turning French themselves.

Even Slave Magic Fails (Again)

"In 'Conjur Woman,' a folk opera for a single performer, the venerable actress Sheila Dabney, working with three proficient musicians onstage at the La MaMa Annex, creates a potent spell seasoned with the power of myth.

She plaintively addresses the walls, as if searching for another slave, her beloved. Her tone is enraptured: 'Out of dem all he is de smartest an’ de strongest — an’ — he fetch a good price.' He escapes from overseers and is hunted by dogs. She plots his rescue.

A turbaned sorceress, she pulls trinkets from the bag, intent on using her enchantments to transform her beloved into a tree. But as with Daphne’s fate as Apollo pursued her, escape comes at a price. When the white man finds the tree and cuts it down, it is the Conjur Woman who mourns.

The play — by the avant-garde actress and educator Beatrice Manley, with a haunting acoustic score by Ms. Dabney, Mr. McGruder, Ellen Stewart and Mr. Tsuji, and directed by George Ferencz — gains dramatic heft over its 45 minutes, though it could use greater variation in its dirgelike pacing. By the end, the character’s protracted suffering can grow repetitious. But at its best moments, the production has the incantatory impact of a fever dream."

- From Andy Webster's review of 'Conjur Woman', in the New York Times

Stop Recycling NOW

Earlier this month I did a post called "Recycling Is Wrong, Wrong, Wrong" because this dangerously silly woman in my hometown named "Siel" (above, blogging for The L.A. Times) was trying to goad the authorities into punishing anyone who wouldn't go along with that long-standing, but ridiculously harmful, garbage collecting scheme. My post featured a link to a highly-informative New York Times story, "Recycling Is Garbage", which outlined the history of recycling, and the many reasons that it is "the most wasteful activity in modern America: a waste of time and money, a waste of human and natural resources."

So I sent Siel a link to my post and she wrote back:

"Feel free to email me when you put up a post with reasons why you think recycling's wrong, in conjunctions with other people's links. I like to read, you know, actual content."

In other words, this snarky madwoman refused to even click on the New York Times article that proved she was wrong and acting like a Nazi - out to punish anyone who doesn't agree with her wrong-headed obsession - because I didn't personally write it. In other words, this so-called "smart" person willingly put her fingers in her ears and sang, "La-la-la-la-la", to ignore important facts she didn't like - as she's actively trying to bring the power of the State of California down upon innocent people's heads. Like I said, a fucking Nazi.

Now, today, The San Francisco Chronicle's C.W. Nevius (above) wrote an article about a nuisance recycling plant in my old Bay Area neighborhood, the Haight/Ashbury. This time I sent him the New York Times article, and this was the reaction:

"Huh. That's interesting. Thanks. CWN"

That's all he said: "That's interesting." Remember, we're talking about "the most wasteful activity in modern America" - billions of dollars of our tax money gone and nothing for helping "the planet" - and he merely finds the information "interesting".

But will he report on the "interesting" news that (in a misguided effort to "Save The Planet") we're actually doing the wrong thing to the earth and ourselves - and on a massive scale? I seriously doubt it.

Sure, these (so-called) "journalists" will go on and on about the worthless banning of plastic bags, and all the other counter-productive nonsense that's being proposed to nanny state us into a Third World country. But, for some reason, they refuse to write anything that admits the direction we're all being aggressively pushed into - the direction they themselves are pushing us toward - is factually just plain wrong. Why?

Well, as anyone who regularly reads this blog knows, I say it's because they're environmental cultists. Now, I know, many of you may not agree with the term but what do you call people, whose jobs it is to inform us of the wasteful uses of government and money, who refuse to do just that because it it makes them personally feel good to act like assholes while believing in this wrong-headed cause of blindly following Al Gore? I can't find another name for them. "Cultists" fits too well.

And, I swear, from where I sit, after all the betrayals these fascist NewAge idiots are putting society through, the WWII idea of one day shaving their heads, and marching them through the streets as examples to us all, is starting to look better and better,...

Recycling Is Wrong, Wrong, Wrong

"Non-recyclers in Westchester County in NY will get a yellow warning sticker. A second offense means a red sticker -- and no trash pickup! Think we can get a similar program started in LA -- or at least Santa Monica?"
-- From Siel, who (like Pol Pot) really likes the idea of penalizing people, in the LA Times's environmental Emerald City blog
"Recycling may be the most wasteful activity in modern America: a waste of time and money, a waste of human and natural resources."
-- The New York Times

Why is this environmental fascism happening? (Read The New York Times article.)
