Nice (Acid House)

If only America hasn't been so damned nice,...

This is a photo of Jimmy Brock, the manager of St. Augustine, Florida's former Monson Motor Lodge, pouring acid in the water as black people swam, in 1964. Martin Luther King, Jr. had been previously arrested for trespassing in it's segregated restaurant. “Jimmy kind of caught the brunt of it. He was a nice guy.” said Eddy Mussallem, a longtime friend and someone who knows nice - according to white American standards.

TMR thinks we can almost predict the behavior of "nice" white Americans, even today, by how each state felt about slavery. Florida, seen here, was a major slave state, so major niceness. Texas - where a nice police officer just resigned for threatening evil black children - it was one of the nicest slave states in the union, just ask Mexico.

So, see? Try studying American slavery, then and now, and you, too, can discover how this place really works:

I swear, you'll find some of the nicest stories you will ever hear in your life,...

Damp It Down (Further)

So - now that the world's "ended" - it's cool to say "I was forced to eat raw animal organs"** while serving as a religious cult's sex slave in Mexico? Whatever. Scientology's got a concentration camp in the California desert, where who knows what goes on, and nobody's getting too upset about that:

Ex-cultists are expecting waaay too much from this crowd,...

**ADDED: Honestly, my first thought when reading that was, "Hey - so was I!"

"Some, Inspired By New Age Philosophies, Expect A Day Of Universal Peace And Spiritual Transformation"

That's always been the promise - but even NASA and I are kinda on the same page:
"The greatest threat to Earth in 2012, at the end of this year and in the future, is just from the human race itself."
And another quote for a lot of what many find important is:
"There is no true issue here. This is just a manufactured fantasy."
Which has never mattered to those in NewAge/Nazi Land. I mean, sure, "it's evil for people to propagate rumors on the Internet to frighten children," but has that stopped them from doing it? Nope. All that's ever mattered is making their vision real - including by shaming, silencing, or getting rid of, those who don't fit and/or will not go along. It has nothing to do with the Maya:
Only a couple of references to the 2012 date equivalency have been found carved in stone at Maya sites, and neither refers to an apocalypse, experts say.
Such apocalyptic visions have been common for more than 1,000 years in Western, Christian thinking, and are not native to Maya thought.
'This is thinking that, in truth, has nothing to do with Mayan culture,' said Alexander Voss, an anthropologist at the University Of Quintana Roo, a state on Mexico's Caribbean coast. 'This thing about looking for end-times is not something that comes from Mayan culture.'
No - it's all about these loving white "spiritualists" in the West. But who cares? So it is written, so it will be done:
 Fire up the ovens!

The Mexican Mormon War (Yet Another Unknown Story)

The number of stories surrounding Mitt Romney and the Mormons, that have gone un-investigated, is astounding. Why is Vice magazine telling us this, while the majors and blogs are only working the who's-up-and-who's-down horse race angle? Not a word about blood atonement, the oaths taken - nothing about cultists taking it so seriously they'd kill each other. Maybe because it would ruin the carefully constructed image of how Mormonism can affect the minds of those under it's influence.

This is the story of one gigantic enclave in Mexico and their battle against the drug cartels. It was started by Mormon polygamists - including Mitt's family - which is also one of the ways "the world's fastest growing religion" has come to rule Utah.  It is not without it's heroes, but the fact remains that, like many issues involving Mormons, it's also one of the weirdest, most twisted, and creepiest cult stories you're ever going to find:

Mormon-on-Mormon carnage, narco religions, kidnapping, guns, and lots and lots of kids and cocaine - all under the clean-cut cover of angels, and because of the loopy teachings of Joseph Smith.

So meet Mitt's Mexican cousins, hear the political controversies between them, and even get a real-world glimpse into the issues surrounding the "Fast & Furious" case. And then hate our news culture - mainstream and blogosphere - for being as totally corrupt as what you're witnessing here,...

Remember: Snakes & Snails & Puppy Dog Tails

Here's a bunch of stuff on the man/woman thing, just so I can get rid of a bunch of stupid photos of women doing what (some) men want. What can I say? It keeps the guys reading and, as long as there's a camera around, (some) women will keep doing stupid shit - because they're "goddesses" - and they deserve it (I always liked that line, except when I didn't):

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it - all men know it:
Men's obsession with size in their nether region may be justified after all. New research indicates size — of a sort — does matter when it comes to male fertility.
I betcha, deep down inside (!) women know it, too.

Why you gotta lie?

Pay attention, Ladies, and stop listening to your girlfriends:
Being a good wife is part of being a good mother. If you’re a terrible wife, you’re not actually being a good mother.
Sorry - no word on what you actually are at that point - but it's not a good mother.

I'll keep looking, though.

This has always been my problem:
Mexico is trying to shed its reputation for machismo - with a Spanish lesson for state workers.

The interior ministry has published a guide for public sector staff on how to avoid using sexist language in the workplace.

Its helpful tips include advising public sector staff not to ask their female colleagues, 'if you want to work, why did you have children?'
And that butterfly tattoo over your ass - why?

It's a job killer!

Naturally, there's this, and a good night out for somebody:
A WOMAN who cried rape after agreeing to sex with a man she met in a pub has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Stacy Ellison, 25, slept with Paul Roberts following a night out in an attempt to make her married lover, 65, jealous.

But when she told him, he became angry and she then claimed she was raped.

Her boyfriend insisted she went to the police and Mr Roberts was arrested, subjected to intimate tests then held in custody overnight.

Ellison, of Chatham, Kent, later withdrew the allegation. She pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.

At Maidstone crown court, judge Martin Joy told her: “In cases where people make up in great detail a false allegation of rape, only severe punishment can be expected.”
And all that after getting tied up and eating dog food?

Shit, her old man must be really pissed off now!
