He Said He'd Tell It Like It Is (And That He Did)

It seems it also takes an atheist to speak truth to power in Hollywood:
Ricky Gervais may have scripted his own Hollywood downfall at last night's Golden Globes as the host tore into celebrity targets at the annual awards do - and divided opinion with his cringe-worthy performance.

But it seems that his trademark acerbic humour may have crossed the line, as the U.S., media rounded on The Office comic dubbing his performance 'uncomfortable', 'corrosive' and 'abusive'.

The Hollywood Reporter predicted it would 'undoubtedly be his last hosting gig for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (and, who knows, maybe any Stateside awards)'.

Invited back for a second year, the British funnyman warned he planned to ensure he would not be asked again - and it seems he may well have fulfilled his destiny as he made the A-list audience gasp at jokes about Brad and Angelina, Charlie Sheen and Robert Downey Junior.

He also left the crowd reeling as he made a thinly veiled jibe about 'famous gay Scientologist actors.'

While referring to films that had not made the cut this year, one of those was the Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor film I Love You, Phillip Morris, featuring, as he put it, 'two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay. '

Gervais then added: 'Sort of the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists then'.

'Oooooooo,' went the audience, before Gervais added: 'My lawyers helped me with the wording of that joke.'

Nobody was spared by his scatter-gun approach. He kicked proceedings in much the way he would continue, by lampooning Charlie Sheen.

The hugely paid Two And A Half Men star has had a tumultuous year, firstly splitting from Denise Richards and recently spending time holed up in Las Vegas with a porn star, Bree Olson.

'It's going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking,' Gervais began his monologue, sipping from a glass of what looked like beer.

'Or, as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast.'

Speaking to the Mail Online backstage, Gervais rather narrowed down the identity of his target, wisecracking: 'I hope people didn't work out who it was.'

He then made a jibe at the expense of nominated film The Tourist, starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

'I feel bad about that joke,' he said after his first dig. 'I'm jumping on the bandwagon, because I haven't even seen The Tourist. Who has?'

He was just warming up. He went on to tell the audience that The Tourist had not been nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association just because its members wanted to hang out with the film's stars.

'Girls, we know how old you are. I saw one of you in an episode of Bonanza.'

'That is not the only reason,' Gervais insisted with a saucy smile. 'They also accepted bribes.'

Gervais then dug into the Hollywood Foreign Press, who were the evening's hosts, for nominating Burlesque after being bribed with tickets to a Cher concert.

He added that it wasn't a halfway decent bribe anyway because no one has wanted to go to a Cher concert since 1975.

Gervais also took a dig at the stars of Sex And The City 2 stars and said: 'I was sure the Golden Globe for special effects would go to the team that airbrushed [the Sex And The City 2] poster.
Awww, did Ricky make the millionaire stars uncomfortable? Puh-leaze. If a dig at Tom Cruise and John Travolta's "religion" (and sexuality) is all he got into with that nest of NewAge vipers - and their awful movies - they got off waaay too easy. And isn't it weird that honesty is frowned upon, when they shove such garbage at us every other day of the week? They shame America.

Let 'em squirm! Way to go, Ricky!

UPDATE: And a "Bravo!" from across the pond!

Decide: Either You're With TMR Or Against TMR

If you're living within the old paradigm, then you're missing it: I'm part of the new paradigm. Maybe even it's leader: educated atheist minority artists, probably conservative, who could give a shit about your obsession with racism - we care about other things.

We see the world differently.

Accurate quote:
"The Democrats have a problem. They also have another problem, which is that they don't know what their problem is."
Another accurate quote:
"Today politics appears a shrivelled and flaccid affair,...there are no political principles at stake, no political leaders or parties worthy of the name. All is small and narrow and petty."
O.K. - here we go:

I'm losing interest in the Instapundit for being so out-of-step. ("Woman Says Citibank Fired Her Because She Was Too Hot." Who cares?) Reynolds once dissed Hip-Hop on his blog and that's just how I see him: one of those non-racist people who still said it's not music as it took over the world anyway.

I know he doesn't link to me, because he doesn't like my style, but fuck him - I won't kiss his ass: he's a gatekeeper, not anybody's judge. What he does with his power is unfair and wrong; his "community" myopic. I'm not spreading look-at-it-this-way-or-that opinion - I'm right as Rush - and, until he recognizes it, he's what we in South Central, Los Angeles, call an educated fool.

End sermon.

Actually, no, here's an example of the very-real phenomena (NewAge) Reynolds isn't addressing - that drives a lot of our world and makes the news daily - within our politics, and elsewhere:

"Move over Chris Matthews, here comes Sir Paul McCartney.

Matthews has been unceremoniously knocked off the Fawning Obama Perch by a more high profile fawn.

Before 'The Won' lets the message go to his Messianic head, McCartney has followed one cult or another his entire life.

First came the Beatles’ adulation of the late Guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the 'Giggling Guru', so named for his high-pitched laughter during television interviews.

About the levitating guru of Transcendental Meditation fame,  McCartney once said: 'We made a mistake.  We thought there was more to him than there was.  He’s human.  We thought at first that he wasn’t.'

The same could be said about Guru Obama.

In later years, McCartney, like his friend Prince Charles, went organic and vegetarian and was once appalled when a buckshot-touting farmer in response to being reminded who McCartney was, blurted out: 'I don’t give a damn who you are, get off my land.'"
And there it is: baby boomer cultism, as the gateway to our society's obsessions with environmentalism, organics, vegetarianism, multiculturalism (AKA "race") meditation, yoga, and a whole lot more. Most importantly, our politics.

From Al Qaeda and Hamas to various figures in this Vanity Fair piece - including people like Rahm Emanuel:

"After an astrologer told Sally that Quinn would benefit from yoga, she had lunch with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, who recommended her own teacher, Pary, whose students included David Gregory and Rahm Emanuel."
That's right:

An astrologer told the Washington Post's Sally Quinn about yoga, who talked it over with The New York Times' Maureen Dowd, and she recommended television's David Gregory and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's "teacher".

It certainly was a big deal when it was Nancy Reagan. And Hillary Clinton, too, who's now Secretary of State.

All these "movers and shakers" (who move and shake our lives with their, regularly idiotic and simply wrong-headed, take on things) all involved in one form or another of cultism. And not a word from the Instapundit on what kind of effect that has on our information stream.

Cultism is the unspoken lubricant that's greasing our society's fucked-up workings. And, until Reynolds starts addressing cultism, in American society and the Western World, his blog reads clueless.

From a review of Sex and the City2 - tell me this ain't weird, and the result of cultism:
"Samantha's vagina is doing fine. She rubs yams on it, okay? She takes 48 vagina vitamins a day."
Where'd she learn that from? Who told her that was smart? Why is it in a feminist movie? Who's directing our thinking out there? Especially if astrologers and yogis are instructing the likes of Sally Quinn, Maureen Dowd, David Gregory and Rahm Emanuel?

Look at this:

"Most of the people who graduated in the 60's, dropouts or half-baked intellectuals, are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, and educational systems. You are stuck with them. You can't get through to them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern. You can not change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black, you still can not change the basic perception and the logic of behavior.

The demoralization process in the United States is basically completed already for the last 25 years,...Most of it is done by Americans to Americans thanks to lack of moral standards,...exposure to true information does not matter anymore. A person who was demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him, even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents and pictures. ...he will refuse to believe it.... That's the tragedy of the situation of demoralization."
Professor Reynolds, seriously, in light of the Vanity Fair quote, isn't cultism a better explanation for the weirdness that's happening, than what you're guessing at, daily?

With Oprah Winfrey - purveyor of The Secret and wackjob "spiritual" online Eckhart Tolle seminars - choosing our president. Are you, or are you not, missing a huge cultural/social/political story?

I think you are.

"Faster, please."

Some Women Just Can't Give Good Head

I'm using this Newsweek cover on Oprah, again, because it illustrates the take-away line from the new Sex and the City movie so well:
"Some men really don't like strong women!"
Absolutely correct - we like "smart" women, not strong - because, as the Oprah cover shows, strong women are almost always stupid.

It's their stupidity that demands they show us today's version of their supposed "strength" - like women, aggressively throwing themselves over everything, are attractive to straight men - when we can see they're not bright enough to realize they're either dressed in "wildly inappropriate clothing" (almost always with the slut look) or spouting a bunch of NewAge nonsense about health and/or empty-headed "wellness" (their obsession - and also the burning topic they know nothing about) after a lifetime wasted in front of a mirror, trying to desperately eliminate their fathers from their faces (good luck with that!) and practicing daring anyone to say something, so they can pick a fight when (after time spent with cultists, predators, eunuchs, idiots, gays, boy-toys, and wimps) they finally, somehow, encounter a real man.

A man who ain't gonna take their shit.

There are so many stupid bitches out there.

All wanting to look strong - for me.

And I can't stand 'em.

Out Of The Frying Pan, Into The Fire,...

"Sarah Jessica is open-minded about seeing a psychic but she doesn't take Matthew along with her. He just doesn't seem to take it seriously."

-- An anonymous source, discussing Sarah Jessica Parker being stupid enough to waste $105-an-hour for talks with "Psychic Serena" because her husband, Matthew Broderick, has been accused of adultery, in Bild.

My Bad: I Guess I'm Just The Wrong Guy

"There is a real focus on men, and on what women do to men: Women don’t forgive men. Women don’t think about men and their feelings. For as sensitive as the modern man is supposed to be to a women’s feelings and as sensitive as a man is supposed to look, he’s not really supposed to register an opinion. Or slip up. Or be honest."

-- Kathryn Jean Lopez, describing themes from the new Sex And The City movie, in the National Review
