Well Played: Boy George Returns To Style (Recording)

"The singer will release This Is What I Do on October 28 through his own Very Me record label.
'I wanted to make a baggy album, not overproduced and I think I have achieved it,' Boy George stated."

Obecalp Fo Evol: Feminism's Got Everything Backwards

Cultism can affect you in the weirdest ways.

I used to have a gay friend (now deceased) who ran a con posing as a voodoo priestess. Khali said, if I had convinced my wife I could levitate, she never would've left.

Now, every time I hear or see something about levitating, it reminds me - if I had considered that was an option - I would've done it in a heartbeat. I would've done it. I would've done anything. And then, as opposed to truth, that con would've become the foundation of our marriage ("My husband can levitate!") leaving me stuck doing bedroom parlor tricks for some crazy witch who would still be open to lying to me (and being lied to) for the rest of our lives.

What I'm saying is, today, songs about levitating/flying/whatever make me feel,...dirty.

Then the string breaks:

Physical shivering when I eventually/inevitably let it wash over me, according to the NewAge, both my present situation - and Khali's imaginary one - are the positive outcomes,...

NTTAWWT

More Glenn Reynolds Fun (I know, I've got to stop, but he's too silly) posting this from a Michael Z. Williamson:
“You know how that person shouting the loudest about teh gheys is usually trying to hide an uncomfortable fact about themselves?
What about the person accusing everyone else of racism?"
But wasn't Reynolds just suggesting - for the umpteenth time - that Obama is racist?

I think we've got a two-for-one here, guys.

I Have Found Myself - And Some Glitter (In The Gutter,...)

The Following is another new cult-themed entertainment - a media phenomena still not mentioned by these other self-styled informers of the blogosphere. Probably because it puts me within Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon. (That's got to be it!) They ARE talking about something else, though:

Ahhh - so we're now in the age of The Gay Gestapo, with gay groupies appointing themselves as our self-styled "Miss Manners," to monitor our words, interrupt and guide our conversations, and telling us how to make them feel more comfortable. Wonderful. Röhm would be so proud.

Remember, during the Bush years, when "watch what you say" had liberals going ballistic?

Speaking of hypocrites (and people who think we have really, really short memories) isn't it nice to be lectured on language by Wanda Sykes, the woman best known for saying this:
I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight,...I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a waterboarding, that’s what he needs.”

They're so confused, I have no idea what these idiots want - wait, I got it:

Apparently, the entire world should be Six Degrees from this guy,...

Twister: Fired Up And Ready To Go,...

This is a continuance of the last post.

It doesn't matter to me if someone has a college degree - or how popular they are:

When people are crazy, they're crazy (even if they stick together) and crazy people need help and direction - not accommodation or fame.

What we're to do about crazy people being allowed to run things - and almost always to the point of disaster before (or even if) they turn back - is the question.
My own attitude is still very confused and ambivalent. How far can you go feeling sorry for him, when he doesn’t feel—is, in fact, incapable of feeling—sorry for anything he has done; when he does not care about the havoc he makes of other people’s lives as long as he gets personal satisfaction. I cannot understand the hairline difference between being a psychopath and being insane.
Aren't we all subject to that lunacy now? It is so rare to find anyone willing to totally break free, so we're all existing within the parameters being set for us - from kinda-crazy to batshit insane - with normalcy being nothing but an afterthought, because hasn't it been established - by the troubled - that no one is normal?

Haven't we been told we're "all" a little gay? Or "spiritual"? Trying to "save the planet"? Even though there are examples, such as myself, that we're not?

And isn't pursuing these goals - amongst others they're in favor of - a fool's errand?

I'm Starting To Get Turned Off To Facebook

This isn't exactly my experience on Facebook - my experience is of "friends" wearing blinders to such a point they want to immediately "de-friend" if you disagree with them on anything. Today, it was a black gay guy who decided that - because he's reading a new book on Malcolm X (the one that claims Malcolm X was gay) - Donald Trump is a "Klansman" for demanding to see Obama's birth certificate.

Seriously.

Now his other friends are writing in, telling him to choose his friends more carefully - I'm a whackjob! There was also the former Punk, who is now a NewAger, and has decided our 20 year friendship is worth abandoning since I informed her there's no such thing as a "chakra". She not only de-friended me but closed off her personal email. Yeah, there's a reason I got away from these people.

What do you think? Is Facebook "all that" for you? Had any weird experiences? Is it worth it?

Dana & Arianna: The Man On The Moon Beams

Even if it's The Washington Post's Dana Milbank, out of all the coverage we've seen of Arianna Huffington's AOL coup, at least somebody said it - emphasis added by us:

This transformation should come as no surprise to anybody who has followed Huffington's remarkable career. Greek-born and Cambridge-educated, she has always been on the move ideologically, from her early squabbles with feminism to her role as a minister with the new-age Movement for Spiritual Inner Awareness, from her membership in Newt Gingrich's brain trust to her stint as populist activist - all before her greatest act, the Huffington Post.
So Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington's back to being "a minister within" the NewAge movement, though when originally questioned about her involvement (during Michael Huffington's political career) she denied everything.

Somebody's lying and it's not us.

We're also enjoying Dana's claim that "Huffington deserves every one of those millions she'll be paid by AOL for creating this online sensation."

What's so cool about that line?

As far as we know, this is the first time in the modern history of the country, at least since the days of the Old West, when a charlatan could ride into town and establish an outpost - to sell water to the rubes and call it medicine - and an American journalist is seen openly applauding the fraud.

To claim Dana Milbank "has lost the plot" is an understatement.

Speaking of losing the plot, we also got a chuckle out of Arianna's statement that the Republican Party had once "seduced, fooled, blinded, bamboozled" her.

Dana says this is "crazy talk".

(Yea: this poor guy might be in need of some serious counseling,...)

But let's say Arianna was being honest - just this once - we can pretend, right?

Isn't she admitting her judgment - political, spiritual, or otherwise - can't be trusted?

Not hard to believe, considering she did marry a guy she claims not to have known was gay - another whopper she's never been held accountable for,...tell us:

How many out-and-out lies do the rich and powerful get to tell before our intrepid reporters start asking the hard questions?

Normal folks usually get one,...

Even Dana Milbank himself, still playing the clapping harp seal, admits as much when he says "If anybody was fooled, it was those who believed she would be a more enduring progressive than she was a conservative."

If you ask us, these paleface speak with forked tongue, Keemosabe.

Downward Dog: Mark Morford Gets Low - Again

It's hard not to laugh but, like Andrew Sullivan, the crazy ass funnel that is The San Francisco Chronicle's Mark Morford, is still out there, trying to sound sane and reasonable, but - as always - completely blowing it:
Look! Here are some scientists. Are they not cute? Are they not totally adorable like angry pfffting kittens as they scoff and furrow their brows and make many dismissive sounds with their pursed mouths, all in the general direction of the very idea of ESP, or psychic ability, or pretty much anything related to the mystical and the weird, the unquantifiable and the supernatural? Man, they really hate that.

Here they are, in the New York Times just recently, all aflutter that an esteemed fellow scientist and scientific journal -- Daryl J. Bem and The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, respectively -- wuld dare to publish a paper on the more than likely possibility that the beloved New Age chestnut known as extrasensory perception (ESP) might, just might, actually exist, in some tiny way, maybe, if we all just quite whining about it and opened up to the idea a little. The horror! The humiliation! What will happen to our funding?
If Morford had funding (his salary was cut, remember?) it would go straight up his yoga-teaching Mangina, is where.

Seriously, not only can't it be good for any scientific paper to have this balloon head for a supporter (He actually goes on to "defend" dowsing,...) but it's not lost on us that we've never seen Morford come out for any other kind of science but the crazy, mystical, quack-filled, never-has-a-chance-in-a-million-years-because-they-falsified-their-data kind. For instance, what's Morford been doing and saying during the entire Andrew Wakefield/Jenny McCarthy/Jim Carrey/Oprah Winfrey-promoted anti-vaccine fraud? Nothing and nothing - except teaching yoga and claiming things were swell - that's what. Imagine:

Children were dying - literally dying - and Mr. Compassion kept as quiet as a mouse.

But, let ESP get some (negative) attention from scientists, and then it's into the breach he flies - with a two-pager! (Watch your back, guys, he'll also try to fly into your britches,...)

Look, we could could go in forever (and we mean forever) about all the reasons why this POS is a liar who we don't like, and also don't think should be allowed to write for any publication, anywhere - not even for the crazy San Francisco paper he "works" for now. But we think (gay put-downs and everything else aside) the absolute very best reason we have for disliking Mark Morford, his work, and his "beliefs", is the one he's, thankfully, put in several articles - including the one we're criticizing him for now - and that very best of all reasons to dislike this particular person is one stated by Morford very clearly - more clearly than probably all the other words he's ever written, combined, and he says it exactly like this - pay attention now:
You certainly do not have to believe me.
No, and we never have, because in all the years Mark Morford's been putting pen to paper - and after all the years of saying silly things like Jesus did yoga - he's never given us a single reason to do otherwise.

So, it is on the basis of those words, Ladies and Gentlemen - words that form his own statement about his column's and his own personal validity - that we feel confident we are all free to finally leave this particular NewAge nincompoop's permissively pliant punk ass alone to himself, and his analyst's couch (because you know he has one) hopefully for the rest of all time.

He Said He'd Tell It Like It Is (And That He Did)

It seems it also takes an atheist to speak truth to power in Hollywood:
Ricky Gervais may have scripted his own Hollywood downfall at last night's Golden Globes as the host tore into celebrity targets at the annual awards do - and divided opinion with his cringe-worthy performance.

But it seems that his trademark acerbic humour may have crossed the line, as the U.S., media rounded on The Office comic dubbing his performance 'uncomfortable', 'corrosive' and 'abusive'.

The Hollywood Reporter predicted it would 'undoubtedly be his last hosting gig for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (and, who knows, maybe any Stateside awards)'.

Invited back for a second year, the British funnyman warned he planned to ensure he would not be asked again - and it seems he may well have fulfilled his destiny as he made the A-list audience gasp at jokes about Brad and Angelina, Charlie Sheen and Robert Downey Junior.

He also left the crowd reeling as he made a thinly veiled jibe about 'famous gay Scientologist actors.'

While referring to films that had not made the cut this year, one of those was the Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor film I Love You, Phillip Morris, featuring, as he put it, 'two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay. '

Gervais then added: 'Sort of the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists then'.

'Oooooooo,' went the audience, before Gervais added: 'My lawyers helped me with the wording of that joke.'

Nobody was spared by his scatter-gun approach. He kicked proceedings in much the way he would continue, by lampooning Charlie Sheen.

The hugely paid Two And A Half Men star has had a tumultuous year, firstly splitting from Denise Richards and recently spending time holed up in Las Vegas with a porn star, Bree Olson.

'It's going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking,' Gervais began his monologue, sipping from a glass of what looked like beer.

'Or, as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast.'

Speaking to the Mail Online backstage, Gervais rather narrowed down the identity of his target, wisecracking: 'I hope people didn't work out who it was.'

He then made a jibe at the expense of nominated film The Tourist, starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

'I feel bad about that joke,' he said after his first dig. 'I'm jumping on the bandwagon, because I haven't even seen The Tourist. Who has?'

He was just warming up. He went on to tell the audience that The Tourist had not been nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association just because its members wanted to hang out with the film's stars.

'Girls, we know how old you are. I saw one of you in an episode of Bonanza.'

'That is not the only reason,' Gervais insisted with a saucy smile. 'They also accepted bribes.'

Gervais then dug into the Hollywood Foreign Press, who were the evening's hosts, for nominating Burlesque after being bribed with tickets to a Cher concert.

He added that it wasn't a halfway decent bribe anyway because no one has wanted to go to a Cher concert since 1975.

Gervais also took a dig at the stars of Sex And The City 2 stars and said: 'I was sure the Golden Globe for special effects would go to the team that airbrushed [the Sex And The City 2] poster.
Awww, did Ricky make the millionaire stars uncomfortable? Puh-leaze. If a dig at Tom Cruise and John Travolta's "religion" (and sexuality) is all he got into with that nest of NewAge vipers - and their awful movies - they got off waaay too easy. And isn't it weird that honesty is frowned upon, when they shove such garbage at us every other day of the week? They shame America.

Let 'em squirm! Way to go, Ricky!

UPDATE: And a "Bravo!" from across the pond!
