TMR Gave Me An Escape (But It Was Still A Close Call)

Can we kid? Yeah, we can.

There's been a lot of reverse-racism lecturing going on:
Let’s review: a “lynch mob,” in American culture, is a group of people who extrajudicially captured, murdered, and mutilated thousands of men, a majority of whom were black, in the 100-year-long period following the emancipation of African slaves in the 19th century. It is a particular, historically contingent phenomenon, an outgrowth of white Southerners’ anxiety about maintaining the social and economic order slavery had enforced.
It is not “people who are criticizing me.”

I should add that, if you were being criticized, you might've been facing an online lynch mob if:

A) You're black and under attack.

B) The criticism was coming from a white mob.

C) The white mob said they don't think you're necessary.

D) There was no one willing to stop it as it happened,...

  1. So if a white person is under attack it's not a lynch mob? What is it then?

  2. Aww...look how cute little sweetie meadie is.

Since you wanna review like that, how about this definition (from the first paragraph at wikipedia):

Lynching is an extrajudicial execution carried out by a mob, often by hanging, but also by burning at the stake or shooting, in order to punish an alleged transgressor, or to intimidate, control, or otherwise manipulate a population of people. It is related to other means of social control that arise in communities, such as charivari, Skimmington, riding the rail, and tarring and feathering. Lynchings have been more frequent in times of social and economic tension, and have often been the means used by the politically dominant population to oppress social challengers. Lynching is sometimes mistakenly thought of as an exclusively North American activity, but it is found around the world as vigilantes act to punish people outside the rule of law; indeed, instances of it can be found in societies long antedating European settlement of North America.[1]

Now, let's think about something else: my question, which was completely without focus on race.

And this: is it really responsible at all to suggest that someone (or several someones) on the internet disagreeing with Crack is remotely equivalent to anyone being dragged off and killed, be they black, white or whatever?

I realize most of Crack's schtick has to do with hyperbole, but isn't it a tad over the top, even for him?

Now, run along meadie. Inger and the old drunk are waiting with their strap ons for you to present.
