Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing, Baby - Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing (So I'm Becoming The Real Thing)

He's never looked the same.

Last year, when assessing why he lost the 2012 presidential election, Mitt Romney’s big head said “the biggest mistake I made was not focusing very early on minority voters."

I had rarely been clearer.

Of course, 2012 was the year I, a black Republican, stopped voting out of disgust with the stupidity of my party.

It was time to get real.

If you think I’m joking, it was but one year later that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal gave me a thrill by admitting the GOP had to "stop being the stupid party" – all that was left was to wait for it to happen.

But you can't get through.

It never did.

The GOPs a bunch of creeps - creeping us out.

Because it can’t.

You can decide who's-who.

The peeling off of Erik Erickson and the Young Republicans' leader in the face of a Trump nomination is all the evidence I need of that.

I've always understood what's-what..

(Notice, they never took this principled stand over the Right’s nausea-inducing position on race over the years, if you want to understand the problems that have always been present,…)

They thought they could survive without me.

Time to die.

Leaving me a choice between Trump University and Eleanore Roosevelt's U.F.O. crew.

BTW – Studies show Fitbit is a scam. Of course, it was reviewed positively by Instapundit, who I also told you was incapable of spotting such things.

As I slowly walk away from the voting booth - again,….

"There Aren’t Enough Grumpy Middle-Aged White Men To Win An Election” (Coulda Thought Of THAT Sooner)

This is so stupid. The Rep's admitted they had a problem in 2012 - they were being, in Bobby Jindal's words, "The Stupid Party" - but, instead of addressing it, they did nothing but go back to doing what they'd been doing. That's why they lost my vote. Now they want to pretend Trump is a cause of their problems when, in truth, he is a symptom of their incompetence. Trump can only be seen as a political "hangover and then herpes" to those who thought, before he showed up, the party was healthy. It wasn't. Not then, not now, and maybe - if it continues not being able to grasp what it's been doing to itself - not even in the future,...

I Take Donations (With Promise Of Bang For Your Buck)

It's sad to discover people in politics don't understand the obvious already, but it's grand to see someone (else, besides myself) admitting the worth of college professors:
“I am in this business to win. I don’t know why you are in it. I am in this to win,” Christie said at the luncheon, his first appearance a meeting of the RNC.
“I think we have some folks who believe that our job is to be college professors,” he said. “Now college professors are fine I guess. Being a college professor, they basically spout out ideas that nobody does anything about. For our ideas to matter we have to win.
Because if we don’t win, we don’t govern. And if we don’t govern all we do is shout to the wind. And so I am going to do anything I need to do to win.”
Christie also appeared to rap Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, another potential White House hopeful who made headlines in January when he implored the GOP to “stop being the stupid party.”
"I'm not going to be one of these people who goes around and calls our party stupid,” Christie said, a startling remark given that Jindal and Christie work hand-in-hand as chairman and vice-chairman of the Republican Governors Association.
“We need to stop navel gazing," he added. "There's nothing wrong with our principles. We need to focus on winning again. There's too much at stake for this to be an academic exercise. We need to win and govern with authority and courage."

O.K., Folks, there's your Clinton Coronation Killer. He can do it and he's up for the game. Now, are you going to be the libs during Iraq and try to screw the pooch for y(ourselves), or will you finally rip the weakened Hilldabeast - specifically as the Democrats' vile "feminist" leader - a new one?

Fuck the Instapundit and his petty, antiseptic political anemia, and fuck Ann Althouse's vile Gay Womyn's Chorus - it's been two election cycles, and they've proven they don't get it, and never will.

Walk with me now - I understand scams.

Ann & Glenn? Great couple of Amazon salespeople, though you must admit one thing:

Helping them out - even "at no cost to you" - has never implied you'll ever get anything more,...

Listen To Cons Chatter (And Find That's All There Is)

The Crazy Vote. Mark Levin says "I Will Do Everything I Can To Make Sure Christie Is Not The Nominee." Because actually picking someone from our "side," who the American public can get behind, is madness. "I bet he's done ten great things, but he hasn't done enough." Levin says. So, the man who said he'd be glad to fight with the hopeless Romney as president won't fight with Christie, though he's got an actual shot at winning. Like I said, Mark's gone crazy.

Rand Paul - being not a Birther - wins the less-crazy vote. Sounds like he's been listening to his dad, who called his dust-up with Christie "irrelevant" and seemed embarrassed his boy has learned so little. Good.

BTW - shades of Obama - isn't that reporter in the last clip the same one who, unprompted, called George W. Bush a monkey? Why yes, yes it is. Curious thing, that.

The semi-sane vote. Charlie seems to think the R's have an attractive field with Chris Christie and an assortment of obvious wannabes and milk toasts (Please stop putting Bobby Jindal in front of me - it's not going to happen). He's right, that Hillary can be beat, that she's an unattractive candidate. So what do you do? Right now, playing to our strengths, we elect Christie and deal with that fall-out afterwards.

But first, as always, we haveta win,....

And Here I Was, Thinking An Elephant Never Forgets,...

After the last election, wasn't it Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal who angrily insisted Republicans lost because we, specifically, "don't need to be saying stupid things"?

Too late - here he is, now, on the subject of science in public schools:
"Let's teach them about intelligent design…"
See, Bobby, that's saying a really, really stupid thing:

Sigh.

I've got a nagging feeling that, if this keeps up, I'm probably never voting again,...

They're All In A Yoga Pose Wondering What Went Wrong

'Bobby Jindal wanted very, very much to be Vice President. He appeared publicly with Governor Romney after the 47 per cent comments, which the governor himself said were totally wrong.
Newt Gingrich made it clear to us he wanted to be part of a Romney administration.
Both these guys - and others - were the governor's best friend when it seemed he was on the brink of becoming our 45th President. Now they're calling him a bum. Real profiles in courage.' -- An anonymous adviser to Mitt Romney, on the ethical underpinnings of the Republican establishment, but now naming names.
This is a righteous beef, and the Romney camp has every right to say it - though the folks who tried to bamboozle us, crying their candidate is being used, is still kinda weak:

Mitt Romney's duplicitous campaign resulted in duplicity - duh - good work, Igor.

I almost want to add "Does it hurt?" but that's not what this is about - just as it's not about Bobby Jindal or Newt Gingrich. I am a Republican, and this is about the real world vs. the one many wanted to see.

You simply can't win in one without acknowledging the other.

To me, this has always been about considering what may be a "transcendental" bit o' understanding - of how beliefs clutter the landscape - to lead us not just astray, but into disarray. I expect few will listen.

So - mapping out their current trajectory of accomplishments - on the next episode of Political Wilderness - A Cavalcade Of Conventional Thinkers:

Our leadership's stuck on the outskirts of nowhere, and getting no closer to civilization, while considering massage therapy to undo all their much-too-tightly-wound knots,...

Alternative Medicine For The G.O.P.: No Weirdos Wanted

"I did it. So what? There is no sympathy."
-- Nathan Burris, the San Francisco Bay Area's "Toll Plaza Killer," defending himself in court by sounding a lot like the current manifestation of America's right-wing.

Bobby Jindal has put a few ideas on the table for how the Republican Party can get back in the groove again. Most are common sense - something, somehow, lacking these days, even with so many leading lights in the Right's firmament. Because I've been arguing them for some time now, I'm particularly fond of numbers three through five:

3. Reject identity politics. The old notion that ours should be a colorblind society is the right one, and we should pursue that with vigor. Identity politics is corrosive to the great American melting pot and we reject it. We will treat all people as individuals rather than as members of special interest groups.
4. Stop being the stupid party. It's time for a new Republican party that talks like adults. It's time for us to articulate our plans and visions for America in real terms. We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments. Enough of that.
5. Stop insulting the intelligence of voters. We need to trust the smarts of the American people. We have to stop dumbing down our ideas and stop reducing everything to mindless slogans and tag lines for 30-second ads. We must be willing to provide details in describing our views.

I don't know. The first part of not "being the stupid party" is admitting how stupid they are, but - insulting our intelligence further - they ain't there yet. Like a bunch of NewAgers (man, it's depressing to write that) they want revenge, or vindication, not a mirror.

Mitt Romney has been publicly quiet since his brief remarks on election night, but he told his top donors on a conference call yesterday that Barack Obama had won by giving “very generous” freebies to key constituencies, including blacks, Hispanics and young people.
“The president’s campaign,” Romney said, “focused on giving targeted groups a big gift, so he made a big effort on small things. Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars.”
Romney surely didn’t mean for his remarks to become public, but he probably shouldn’t be surprised that they leaked. After all, the same thing happened when he told donors earlier this year that 47 percent of the electorate would vote for Obama “no matter what” – because they “believe that they are victims” and that “they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it.”
A tape of those comments emerged in September, and Romney eventually repudiated them and spent the rest of the campaign insisting that he would be a president for “the 100 percent.” That he’s still disparaging Obama’s coalition behind closed doors all but confirms that his campaign trail pleadings were insincere. It also reinforces the worst image of Romney, as a sneering plutocrat who has contempt for the common man.

It's a little late, but it might help if Jindal could add "stop picking stupid liars for our leaders" to his list of suggestions. Not that some would notice:

Mitt Romney was a fine candidate. He was a fine candidate — and so was Ryan — even with the media spinning everything they could against him.
-- Ann Althouse, clearly out to lunch, probably with another glass of wine.

Sheesh. Here's my "common man" suggestion to the Repubs:

Find anyone hated by the likes of Ann Althouse, Glenn Reynolds, etc., and run with them.

The dislike of the elitist right-wing professor/blogger class has to indicate some level of integrity - and then we're halfway home. It'll work like a charm:

Just nominate someone talking sense - and who is unwavering on it - then wait for the blogosphere's collective freakout.

Voila! You've got your candidate. Face it:

Credibility's like Kryptonite to these people,…
