Racist Whites Don't Think Yesterday Has Ever Existed

In 1814, when blacks were the most expensive property in America, whites supposedly loved those they forced to wear rags.

BUT

In 2014, when blacks are worth nothing after the destruction of slavery, whites hate us and complain it's about how we dress.

In 2011, whites had "a Golden Opportunity to Win the Latino Vote," and wanted to do so - and what that did to blacks didn't matter.

BUT

In 2014, whites now say "Barack Obama Throws Black Americans Under the Bus" after winning the hispanic vote - and that's all that matters to them.

And the lesson here is:

Whites are so consumed with telling themselves (and others) their delusional lies, they think people dedicated to studying history will also forget whatever they'd previously said and done.

The recent push by the GOP in many states to force a form of voter ID as well as reduce voting hours has rightfully been described by many as a modern version of the poll tax, which was declared unconstitutional in 1966,…Poll analyst Nate Silver determined that ID laws could reduce voter turnout by 2.4 percent, a margin that might sway close races toward Republicans. U.S. Circuit Judge Richard Posner, who was appointed by Ronald Reagan, said that such ID laws exist only to “discourage voting by persons likely to vote against the party responsible for imposing the burdens.” 

The same problem exists when the voting hours are reduced because wage-workers and single parents have less time to vote. And that’s the point, however un-American and anti-democracy: to keep voters away who may vote against you. This deliberate act to sabotage the democratic election process is worse than anything ISIS could do and yet we not only permit it, we vote people who support it into positions of power. 

Proponents of the voter ID law often admit that the studies prove voter fraud is extremely rare. So, they counter by saying, as did Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia Pat Mullins, and Secretary of State of New Mexico Dianna Duran, “One is too many.” Would they agree that “one is too many” when discussing innocents who might have been executed by the death penalty? Would they agree that “one is too many” when advocates of gun control site statistics of children accidentally killed by guns at home? Does “one is too many” only apply when restricting the votes of the poor and minorities?

No, it also applies to how many evasions whites will make, eventually, to avoid dealing with - and especially paying - this nation's moral debts,...

The Kansas City Royals lost The World Series to the San Francisco Giants last night. Anybody else still remember Althouse's previous thoughts on the subject? I do:

Going along with unconstitutional laws to block black voters nationwide.

Calling for "panic" over the first black president's rational response to her own ignorant, racist, delusional Drudge-led-by-the-nose non-crisis - actually encouraging white hysteria on the black man's watch. 

And, this week, Ann posted this racist catcalling video that edited out all the white guys (how'd the supposedly non-racist Ann miss what any fool could see? Was it on purpose?) Ann could care less, as long as it advanced her bullshit agenda.

But, for now, we can be "happy" the Royals still lost.

It's great symbolism.

Maybe, instead of being "happy," Althouse should hope she and other whites can grasp "meaning"....

Many of those sentences disproportionately hurt minority communities.”

Here's hoping he finds someone, even more determined, to finish what he started,....

If There's Smoke There's Fire & Wisconsin's Burning Up

Over at The Elephant's Graveyard - which increasingly appears to be the state of Wisconsin - what we've got is a racial Domino Effect, caused by each conservative's racism touching the next, just enough, for blacks to be responsible for knocking the Right off it's game by November:

Just as Lyin’ Ryan was lamenting the natural lazy state of the poor,...his buddy was dipping his toe into the GOP’s newest segregated pool. Gov. Scott Walker told reporters that the “only real thing” he considered “pressing” enough to want to get done before the next election was to fully-implement his state’s 2011 voter ID law, that Walker himself signed into law.

Why is it so important for Walker to get the voter ID law enforced in his state? Surely it has to be because Wisconsin has a badillion voter fraud cases each election right? Wrong. The best numbers I could find were showing an average of about 20 voter fraud convictions a year. OH MY GOD 20?! How shocking, right? That amounts to 0.0006666666666666666% of all the state’s voters,...that means voter fraud does not exist...

What we all know to be certain fact — voter ID laws help the Republicans. Why? Because they are targeted at making it harder for people of color, college students and the elderly to vote. Those voters traditionally vote for Democrats. So for Walker it makes sense from a cynical political point of view to get that voter ID law ironed out and in full-force before the elections take place.

I know someone who's actually rooting for the creep. And speaking of creeps, here's that sad sack, RNC Chair Reince Priebus, who started off saying Republicans needed to get their shit together, just to change his tune now that Paul Ryan's got "urban" problems:

"Paul said he thought it was inarticulate, but quite frankly, Democrats are lying in wait as well to pounce on whatever might be off tone." 

 Can you believe him? He's actually trying to blame the Democrats for capitalizing on Republicans making fools of themselves. 

Shoot, when even the chairman of the party is incapable of saying anything on tone, aren't they supposed to "pounce"?

The Republican Party's completely lost the plot,...

 

TMR Got Into Race Because That's Where We Should Be

The Week has seen the sweep of history:

For the good of their party and for the good of the republic, Republicans must genuinely reach out to and successfully attract black voters.

The GOP is not off to a good start. In South Carolina, where blacks make up 28 percent of voters, so few blacks voted in the 2012 GOP primary that it was statistically impossible to find among them a preference for any of the party’s candidates.

Rand Paul and other Republicans have made awkward attempts at appealing to African-Americans — so awkward it sometimes seems their intended audience is not the people sitting in front of them. Speeches by white Republicans at historically black schools and in Detroit have had the whiff of slightly smarmy non sequiturs. "Dontcha know? Republicans were abolitionists 150 years ago."

There are some obvious alterations the GOP and the conservative movement must make to attract black voters. Any project that looks like anti-black voter suppression should be first on the list to go. The Randian rhetoric of "takers" must go too. It not only alienates parts of the existing GOP base, but is pungent with contempt for those, like African-Americans, who view themselves as unfairly held outside and below the sphere of social concern.

Perhaps most difficult of all, conservatives need to bring their well-paid yappers to heel, lest they find another case like Trayvon Martin's death and use it to enflame a totally spurious debate about "the real racists." Such arguments make conservatives look like self-involved idiots and aggrieved monsters.

Or so we've been told,...

A White GOP Senator From Wisconsin (!) Steps UP!!!

I was almost ready to think whites, Wisconsin, and Republicans were lost - Rand Paul, pay attention - and not to Rick Perry's "nigger stone":

During a filibuster-style radio interview in Milwaukee Friday, senior Republican Congressman James Sensenbrenner (Wisconsin) charged that the State of Texas as a whole had a tendency to discriminate against minority voters and should be placed back under Holder Justice Department supervision thanks to his proposed legislation.

After the 2013 U.S. Supreme Court decision to strike down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act—a policy that held a number of southern states like Texas and other jurisdictions structurally discriminatory toward minorities until proven otherwise—Rep. Sensenbrenner vowed to revive the law.

I never would've guessed Uncle Tom was a doctor.
