I believe that what we have here, are people who have been sold a bill of goods (on both sides) -- they have been encouraged to not think critically for themselves, to buy into a "lifestyle", to not know their history. They are products of a mass market mentality, that began before they were born, and directed completely at making them buy in -- and they didn't disappoint.
They are now the base for both parties -- and differences in groupthink doesn't take away from the fact that groupthink is what is going on.
