Where to begin? If you want to pull back the curtain, “Howard Stern” is the obvious choice, because - not only does his name open the damn thing - but TMR wrote of him as a member of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Transcendental Meditation cult (as well as Howard’s personal fall-out from all that) going all the way back to 2008.

Plus, this headline is from The Huffington Post, which (also in 2008) TMR noted was “A Warehouse For Wackos”. Why give (cult leader Arianna Huffington's) "HuffPo" that title - all the way back in 2008? It wasn't just because other cult members, like Howard Stern, appeared in it. Here’s the direct quote - from “a cancer surgeon and NIH-funded cancer investigator” - that instigated my actions: 

 “Within three weeks of its formation, I had noticed a very disturbing aspect of the Huffington Post, and that was that it appeared to be providing a major soapbox for antivaccinationists,..."

Emphasis mine. So, what were you thinking about in 2008? What about now? Or what are you being told to think? Or how to think it? The links, above, are just a bit of evidence (real world proof) that The Crack Emcee's head was screwed-on tight, waaay before everyone else's - because The NewAge Movement has never fooled TMR - not even when filtered through the Howard Stern's of the world. Asking The Big Guy

Tell me something good. Well? What do we have here? Looks educational:

These are "new findings," huh? So what exactly is "feedback"?

Developmental psychologists have found that people’s beliefs are more likely to be reinforced by the positive or negative reactions they receive in response to an opinion, task or interaction, than by logic, reasoning and scientific data.

They're saying, once the NewAge established a culture of saying "Don't Judge", elements - dangerous to that culture - were then free to flourish, because DUH.

Fucking "Ancient teachings" are more helpful to us at this point.

Look, it's easy: Stop pushing yoga and meditation (we've got P.E., thanks) and the paranormal (not because it's not real, but, because it's not real, and causes problems) start arresting frauds (people who make/sell bad products) con artists (like psychics) and quacks (and any others screwing up the medical field). And then, start openly questioning why celebrities are so into promoting them. These are almost all cult tactics and groups. Anyone can see what they're up to now - but can you think of a more sinister way to get and keep an audience - if that's what they think they're doing, at that point? The point of exploiting who loves you?

They're calling Africa Bambaataa a cult leader now. Madonna's one, and so are Gwyneth Paltrow and Oprah. Arianna Huffington, Shirley MacLaine. Dr. Oz - I've got tags for all of them, below. The Democrats got it goin' on! Hell, if you're not aware of who's in the NewAge cult, it's enough to make you wonder:

Well, I guess it's true - if you live long enough, you see everything. Including all your NewAge predictions coming true! For instance, TMR's old friends in the Reiki cult are finally getting their due from Slate, in a Brian Palmer article that suggests:

Reiki and reflexology have no place in hospitals.

Great idea!

Of course, TMR was saying it seven years ago, when that position was considered "crazy". (What does that make my critics now?) And, that whole time - just like with Republicans, now, on race - I had to withstand the slings and arrows of those with no feeling for reality. It's rough.

So why'd it take so long for "mainstream" Slate to catch on? They've got an article on another of my pet peeves - Yoga - that explains it:

  Why haven’t you already heard about all of these anti-yoga studies? They have no constituency, and therefore don’t interest the media much. When a journal article showing that yoga improves quality of life in breast cancer patients came out earlier this month, hundreds of stories trumpeted the results in the mainstream media. So there's my beef - just like with politics - so far ahead of the curve, no one can see me. (I covered therapeutic touch as well, back-in-the-day, so there.) There's "no constituency" for far-seeing truth. The media want to print hype, and then, whatever happens,...happens.

It never ends (Don't forget I told you supplements were crap, too.) I usually say I'm about 5 years ahead of most people on the NewAge subjects I'm interested in but, looking at these dates, I'm at least seven or eight years ahead. Not too shabby. Now I want to test it. Anybody heard anything out of Arianna Huffington lately?

The documentary about Benazir Bhutto titled Bhutto is nothing short of a silly hagiography. It is only surprising that Tariq Ali agreed to be part of the charade, although his old friendship with her during her time in the UK explains (and justifies) the lapse. To be fair to Ali, he did not shy away from criticizing her second term in office. 

The documentary comes clearly in response to a cult about Bhutto in Western capitals, especially Washington and London. Bhutto was not a remarkable politician and nor were her achievements in office (unless we count her achievements in terms of the damage she has caused in Pakistan and beyond). Western circles are always desperate for a royal family story, and the Bhuttos provide one.

Yep, throw in cultish thinking and we Americans are becoming pretty predictable,...

Somebody Was "Huffing And Puffing" Before We Knew

 

 Somehow, I think I missed posting this way back when, but it's still worth a gander - Here's Joseph Farah, describing his old friend, Arianna Huffington:

I don’t say this as a stranger – but as someone who was once fairly close with Arianna. I knew her well when she was pretending to be a conservative. 

What do I mean? 

She now describes herself as a “progressive independent” who is “coming from the fourth dimension of political time and space.” Whatever. 

This is a woman who can say nothing of any meaning or consequence and get network news coverage. Furthermore, she never stops yapping.

 

You know all this, so I'm sorry, because that's not really the good part - you know it, too - this is the good part:

Becoming a disciple of various cult leaders – from Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to Jolly John-Roger. That’s what Arianna Huffington was and is. 

She became a follower of the Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, whose cult practiced open sexual intercourse among its members and with its leader, as a central tenet of their faith. The cult is most famous for attempting to take over an Oregon town. The faithful purchased 139 white Rolls-Royces for their leader. A 2001 book, “Germs: Biological Weapons and America’s Secret War,” by New York Times reporter Judith Miller, revealed the cult spread potentially lethal salmonella bacteria in this town with the intent of infecting and incapacitating residents on Election Day so Rajneesh could win control of the local government. 

From the Bhagwan, Huffington hooked up with John-Roger, founder of a New Age Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness, based on “the Mystical Traveler, a spiritual consciousness that exists throughout all levels of God’s creation.” In 1994, one of John-Roger’s disciples, Peter McWilliams, wrote “Life 102: What to Do When Your Guru Sues You,” alleging he was brainwashed to write John-Roger’s books with the promise he would be miraculously cured of AIDS. In the book, McWilliams wrote that Huffington had become a major financial backer of John-Roger and an ordained minister in his movement. McWilliams released a video of Huffington in a white robe being baptized by John-Roger. 

From all appearances, Huffington’s devotion to John-Roger continues to this day. 

And she speaks to Virginia Thomas of irrationality?

 

 Yes, she would, because - no matter how insane she is - just like Oprah, she can do or say anything and she'll still be held up as some kind of female icon, simply for fooling people for so long (the scumbags give you points for that now,...) Don't you think, maybe - after all these years - someone should publicly ask Wonder Woman what her poisoning-others-for-group-sex cult days were like?

   

 And - since we don't know where that mouth has been - why anyone should be listening to her now?

 

I Left The Ghetto (Only To Find One In White's Minds)

It's kind of shocking to see this in print, even if the writer does try to put a positive spin on it:

The whole spiritual path is a brainwashing.

Hey - after years of denials that anything of the kind was happening - I'll take these two NewAger's half-truth, over everybody else's lie, any day. It's not lost on me their meditation discussion - about what happened at a retreat - took place in a yoga workshop because, as I've said many times, those are all cult interests and gathering places. As is The Huffington Post, where the article appeared, being owned and run by a cultist, Arianna Huffington. There's hardly any escaping it. "The whole spiritual path is a brainwashing"? Please - two people who've been conned, attempting to tell the truth out of everyone else? The band War got it right:

While discussing homeopathy, The Telegraph's Tom Chivers has some nice words for The Huffington Post, and our political parties, about their left/right but still collective hoo-doo fetish:

And so they should, and so would I. But you don't get to pick and choose which bits of science you like, and you certainly don't get to claim that the Right are all crazy mad science-fearing God-bothering lunatics, while simultaneously claiming that some magic medicine that doesn't work works because of quantum."

Quite correct - it's exactly why I didn't vote for Romney - but I wonder if Tom Chivers knows who Arianna Huffington is, because he sounds pissed. If he did know, he wouldn't be surprised:

I told you yoga is a cult, and The Huffington Post's Arianna Huffington is a cult leader, so what's the natural progression from there (Other than our own self-destruction)? You guessed it:

Good ol' Arianna Huffington - until she's stopped (or gathers anyone's on to her) that bitch won't quit.

Speaking of not quitting, I used a photo of the anorexic twin sisters who recently died together in a fire. Pretty bizarre since anorexics can't usually see what's happening to themselves - the mirror image of being twins must've been a death knell for both of them. Sad shit, man.

Protecting The Innocent (One Cult Post At A Time,...)

This is another of my declarative warnings, migrating over from the Althouse blog:

So what are you saying? Vote Obama and not vote at all?

No: 

1) I'm not telling you what to do.

2) I'm offering a way out based on reality, and not the game as it's playing out in the mediasphere.

In 2008, with the candidacy of Obama, I said we were dealing with Oprah's NewAge cult. Some people - including Ann Althouse - saw it temporarily but let it go. (It wasn't until recently, after years of being called a fool, the evidence was clear I was right.) Luckily enough, I could vote for McCain back then, avoiding immediate contact with the issues presented.

NewAge is pretty noxious, but also fractious, unorganized, and - because of that - dangerous mostly to those in it. You'll notice that, whether it be Obama, Oprah and Arianna, or many of the other leaders of their movement, things have not worked out well.

In 2012, we face a different cult. 

And a different kind of cult - much more organized, totally insular, and much more dangerous - but not just to the people in it, but to our republic as well.

Cultism, still, is an issue only a fragment of our society is aware of or concerned about - mostly artists, I think, because we have always been the target audience for spreading their message - so our country is walking blindly into their clutches.

That's what I'm warning against.

I've said all along that Obama and the Democrats were going to lose the coming election, that the economy would improve, and that we should go with a conservative candidate to steer us clear.

But just as I said Obama was the wrong man to be our "first black president," because of his cultish outlook, Mitt Romney is the wrong "business man with an economic background" to replace him for the same reason.

Cultism is "garbage in/garbage out" and - while YOU may think (as Obama's supporters thought) you're hiring Romney for one thing - just like with Obama, WE'RE actually going to get a whole lot of stuff never bargained for. It's inevitable.

So I say stop this election now. I'm not going to dwell on how because, I know, there's no way to make that happen if the American people - left and right - don't see the danger. (The movies, TV shows, etc., aren't coming fast enough to make everyone aware of what we're dealing with.)

The Republicans want to get rid of Obama. I get that. But, like a parent watching their impulsive kid recklessly backing the car too fast out of the driveway for the first time, I'm dreading what I know is coming.

Tell me, where is the viable, electable fiscally sane alternative candidate? Or do you want Obama to win just to hasten the collapse so we can start over from zero?

Never. 

Personally, I'd draft Thomas Sowell in a second. Whether he wanted the job or not. At gunpoint if necessary. He could pick the cabinet of his choice, and do whatever the fuck he wanted, because he's rational, understands the issues - especially economics - is beholden to no one and intellectually beyond reproach. He's what we need in a president.

But electing a follower of a greedy child-raping con man just isn't going to do this country any good, and - after the last cult-inspired disaster - I don't understand anyone sane could imagine it will.
