How Could I Be Such A Fool?

2019: "Wellness jumps to a $4.5 trillion global market."
2023: "Wellness Market Reaches Record $5.6 Trillion."
Edzard Ernst MD, PhD, MAE, FMedSci, FRSB, FRCP, FRCPEd:

"Wellness is a fashionable paradise for charlatans in which they are protected from scientific scrutiny and feel at liberty to bullshit to their hearts’ content."
News Flash: "Deepak Chopra is getting into the $814 billion wellness tourism business."

And, of course, Lil Wayne's real name is "Clarence."

When Asked About This Photo, Montel Williams Replied, "So What?"

So,...only one of two conclusions can be true:

1) Kamala Harris - a former Prosecutor and Vice President-elect of the United States - is so gullible, she would let a charlatan who popularizes talking-to-the-dead put his penis inside her, or 2) Kamala Harris is a dirty cop, who enjoyed laughing with a criminal, as the two of them spent the money he was grifting.

The VP-elect is Dumb or Dirty: It HAS to be one or the other.

Why It Was Surely "Time To Panic" Long Before Ebola

For good reasons (?) whites are sooooo very disappointed in this record

Poor Jon Stewart. He and I, and others like us, keep hoping for a little integrity out there, but all we get is charlatans pumping  Drudge's hype, FOX News, the ravings of  insane activist law professors (who don't care if they're wrong or even outright lying) and - when that doesn't work - another dollop of more of the same:

It's too bad because, I swear, I remember hearing whites say the internet was here to help with that,....

Another Day - Off To A Grand Start - AMERICAN FRAUD

I love the surprise here. Like they didn't know, aren't aware, had no clue what's going on.

I did a post, years ago, stating "Free Society From Fraud" but so what, right?

How about "Totally Agro: Our Lives Are Surrounded (If Not Controlled) By New Age Fools And Charlatans"? Nobody cared.

There was the always-delightful "Water Has A Memory (But We Understand Fraud)" and even "Fabulously Famous For Fraud" but - when Americans are faced with it - they still decide to pretend I'm the clueless moron while they try to register shock like they didn't know. Oooh, Bernie Madoff - Bad. You? You're a fucking genius.

Here's a Google search for all my posts, specifically, on the vitamin and supplement scam. And here's the always "smart and independent" definition of womanhood:

See? That's somebody, informed of the clear evidence, but she doesn't get angry and want revenge for misinformation swindling her out of thousands of dollars (and making her sound like a dummy at parties) while supporting criminals for decades - no, she's a willing idiot who wants to be taken advantage of! You can't stop her! I can't stop her!

They're actually aspiring to be stupid!

Or rather - as Gwenyth and Madonna and the rest of the yoga pod people prove - they're aspiring to stay good looking enough to get laid while the rip-off is occurring.

And always in public, BTW.

Selfies,...

Ted Cruz Should Be Filibustering To End Homeopathy

Without taking on how to fight cultism, Prof. Edzard Ernst always ends up at the same place as TMR:
"Firstly, if people employ homeopathy to protect themselves from infectious diseases like malaria, typhus, TB, AIDS etc., or if people believe those charlatans who promote it as an effective cure for life-threatening conditions, we do have a serious public health issue at hand. Secondly, why should the vast majority of health care professionals bend over backwards to do their very best implementing the concepts of [Evidence Based Medicine], if homeopathy is being given a free ride to continue existing in a virtual universe of belief-based medicine? Thirdly, how on earth can scientists possibly explain 'the science of genetics and how it develops, or the issue to do with climate change', if they lack the skill, courage, power or honesty to adequately respond to harmful quackery masquerading as medicine?"

Exactly - in a world where everyone is too,...whatever,...to distinguish between water and medicine, there can be little hope they can make an intelligent decision on anything else.

And the results are bearing that out, daily,...

The GOP: Luzing 'Cause They're Cruzing For A Bruzing

Hmmm. I don't see anything about a charlatan in Reynolds' rah-rah corner for the man touched by God - and, after Romney, do we really need another one of those?
Cruz’s acknowledgement of the near-impossibility of passing a defunding bill through the Democratic-controlled Senate is an accurate reading of political reality. But House Republicans didn’t care; they were apoplectic with Cruz not only for laying the responsibility for defunding on them, but for making them seem weak. “If Cruz doesn’t help us in the Senate to pass a defunding bill, we’ll end up having to pass a normal CR,” complains a veteran House Republican. “It’ll be pathetic, but I expect him to slam us for it.”

House insiders say a handful of House Republicans cursed Cruz in the cloakroom on Wednesday, and a leadership source says angry e-mails were exchanged among GOP staffers who consider Cruz to be a charlatan. “Cruz keeps raising conservatives’ hopes, and then, when we give him what he wants, he doesn’t have a plan to follow through,” an aide fumes. “He’s an amateur.” Another aide says, “Nancy Pelosi is more well-liked around here.”

Wow - "amateur" - he sounds like Obama.

When I turn out to be wrong about these yokels, you let me know.

As usual, Instapundit's leading the gullible by the nose, to an easily-identifiable pipe dream, and the typical piper - a "charlatan":

This is Republican politics?

Prepare to stay in the wilderness, kids.

All we're doing is wasting time, and credibility, with these fools,...

The Right-Wing Media (Are Just Immature Dick Heads)

You wanna know why conservative media is so out there? Oprah Winfrey's been the vehicle for child abuse, massive misinformation, NewAge charlatanism, Obama's election, and more, but what are conservatives all fired up about?

She wore what they're calling a "Penis Dress".

They're simply beyond worthless,...

Give Women Haircuts (And Refuse Them Sexual Favors)

Didn't I tell you Drudge has been fishing - for something to hype - for a little while now?

Looks like he got it.

Still doesn't make it news.

Isn't it fascinating how - even with all the *known* charlatans out there - they still decide to run with speculation? Assumptions. This "could" be true (could not) and this "may" have happened (may not) so much you stop listening because you may as well be getting your news from ghost hunters?

Day before yesterday, they were interviewing a vegan on NPR and he said the United States doesn't do anything well anymore, and I wondered how NPR can get a community service license when it actively chooses to broadcast such a twisted view of the world and our place in it?

Everybody's got their heads stuck so far up their own asses they can't see their way out.

I don't know if it's human nature, but I guess most people only seem to gain perspective in disaster, and then it's back to the bullshit. Remember 9/11? We're all Americans now? I think we're over it.

Major news stories? Come on. Do you really think this news gathering before us - right now - has somehow got you better informed than during the chaos of 9/11? Come on again:

They're "informing" you - about a "scandal" that isn't there - how "useful" is that?

As useful as becoming a NewAger because you didn't like religion.

Oy Vey.

 Shut the madhouse doors,...

Science Knows A Lot: Any Fool Knows That - No, Wait

Clearly, Richard Dawkins is no Phil Plait. Come to think of it, Plait was the voice behind that silly "Don't Be A Dick" campaign a couple of years ago. Hmmm. The man doesn't make sense:

Unless you're a mark, sometimes, being a dick is the only option open,...

"Well Glory Be: The Joke's On Me,..."

I'm doing some reading before I have to work a midnight to 4 shift. Here's a paragraph that caught my attention, as it seems to explain the predicament I'm living with pretty*fucking*well, if you ask me:
Benevolence requires a strong sense of justice because a sense of justice is necessary to appreciate dishonesty: after all, in games of trust, especially with lag time, cheaters can wreak havoc. And so, over evolutionary time, an arms race honed in social mammals a growing intelligence. Trivers finds it ironic that “dishonesty has often been the file against which intellectual tools for truth have been sharpened.” But one of the outcomes of this Darwinian dynamic may have also been a genuine instinct for fairness, born of the need to distinguish trustworthy partners from charlatans.
What's the old saying? "A conservative is a liberal who's been mugged"?

Considering the behavior of conservatives this year, I'm beginning to wonder who exactly that mugger was,…

The Balance Of Power (Or Balancing Act: Your Choice)

Most Americans do not think Scientology is a true religion, more people would prefer to win an Olympic gold medal than a Pulitzer prize and celebrity endorsements do not carry much weight, according to a new poll released on Monday.

This gets at something I've been thinking a lot about - how much fakery we, as a nation, endure or "tolerate." Staying with Scientology for the moment, check out this recent court dialogue between a lawyer (Harris) and one of the cult's "experts" for it's Narconon drug program (Casal):
HARRIS:  Have you looked at the Narconon literature on what Narconon contends the benefits from the sauna program are?
CASAL: Yes, I have.
HARRIS:  And the sauna program, what Narconon contends is that in -- it in fact detoxifies your body. True?
CASAL: True.
HARRIS:  But there's no scientific basis that you can point me to to support that contention, is there, sir?
CASAL: You're correct.
HARRIS:  So when Narconon states that the sauna program detoxifies its students, you're not aware, as a medical doctor, of any scientific basis for that contention?
CASAL: I agree.
HARRIS:  The vitamin regimen. You're familiar with the vitamin regimen?
CASAL: Yes, sir.
HARRIS:  What -- do you have an opinion about whether or not the vitamin regimen is effective at treating addiction?
CASAL: I believe that it has very likely no bearing whatsoever on the treatment of addiction.

And yet, these Narconon facilities are up and running, all over the country - and even killing people - with hardly anyone challenging their outrageous claims what-so-ever.

I got to thinking about this after reading Richard J. Evans' review of the book, Hitler’s Berlin: Abused City, which ended like this:
In the five years since the book was published in German, moreover, a great deal of research has appeared about Berlin during this period, so that the book was out of date even before it was translated. Friedrich was a long-term museum curator in the city, not a professional historian, and while he was effective at presenting well-known facts to a wider audience, this book demonstrates, regrettably, that he did not really know to do original or innovative historical research. Given the highly critical reception the book received on its publication in Germany in 2007, it is puzzling that Yale University Press thought it was worth bringing out in English at all.
Indeed. Like a lot of things that are happening now - including the current election of a Mormon cultist to high political office, though his belief system is as much of a fraud, and his grasp on science and reality is hardly any better, than the Scientologists - it makes me wonder two things more than any other:

Who are these charlatans within the higher echelons of power in this country, and how much more of this will we be forced to take?

How "The World's Fastest Growing Religion" Is Growing

Not only is this practice creepy, but it shows Mitt Romney's cult has no shame:

It has been determined that Barack Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, was baptized by the Mormon Church after her death. The baptism occurred five months before the 2008 presidential election.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints confirmed that the president’s mother was baptized into the Mormon faith, and it doesn’t appear that the president wanted this to happen. Dunham died in 1995 from cancer and after President Obama received enough delegate support to win the Democratic nomination for president, someone in the Mormon church improperly conducted the ceremony.

That it was "improperly conducted" should be the least of the offenses found here,...
