It's The NewAge (Rhymes With Sewage) & I Fit Right In

You know what? I'm glad I've never spent a day in yoga class because I already feel "enlightened":

And I'll have that with a half soy/half two percent, muddy chai pumpkin latte with caramel swirls and whipped cream on top.

Thanks,…

Lie - Get Hurt. Tell The Truth - Get Hurt: Hurt's On-Point

Italy's only black cabinet minister has called for more support as she endures relentless non-violent racist attacks.

Ms Kyenge has faced a torrent of abuse since her appointment in April from the right-wing Northern League party and its supporters.

The League's newspaper, La Padania, has just begun publishing her daily itinerary - presumably so that the hecklers will always know where to find the minister, says the BBC's Alan Johnston in Rome.

Last year, one of its most senior figures likened her to an orangutan. Another accused Ms Kyenge of wanting to impose "tribal traditions" on Italy.

One of the League's councillors even called for the minister to be raped.

Ms Kyenge has been heckled, and had bananas thrown at her during political rallies.

In a separate development, police confirmed that a suspicious powder mailed to Ms Kyenge on Wednesday was baking soda.

The package was intercepted at a mail-processing centre.

As in so many areas of life, all I can ask is, "Really?"

Messy: Working At The Height Of Our Power's Like That

This is Talking Heads, featuring members of Parliament/Funkadelic with King Crimson's Adrien Belew, doing "Crosseyed & Painless" - easily the best, and most sophisticated, bit of songcraft in their entire collection. And this particular performance in Rome was a beautiful train wreck of epic proportions. My God, what a mess. I've loved it for over over three decades now.

This is an awesome band, operating with everything turned up to Eleven, and I can't help but think this is a perfect example of what's what wrong with my country today:

We've forgotten how to be,...this

As we glide to giving the fucking Mormon Tabernacle Choir the stage, we're also running from what makes us so fucking awesome - the sheer incomprehensible, multi-platinum clusterfuck that is America Unleashed. Look at that crowd. I bet - whether in Rome, or Africa, or Los Angeles - no one could do more than stare with their mouths open and dance because they had no friggin' idea what to make of it! It could ONLY have come from here. And we're throwing it all away for a sense of order? Please.

 "I'm still waiting"?

No I'm not - my country is leaving without me,...

Our Race To The Bottom: It's All In Black & White (Now Offer To Take Your Girl To Italy)

We're not saying you shouldn't respect politicians or women, but, at some point, you have to admit it gets to be difficult:
The Italian prime minister says he has nothing to be ashamed of, and that he has just been having fun. But the sheer mass of sordid details of his “bunga bunga” parties has now been revealed for the first time. The descriptions provided by prosecutors, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, prostitution and sex with an under age dancer, read like a bacchanalia.

One opposition politician has already remarked this week: “Compared with Berlusconi, Caligula was a prude.” And so it might seem from the 389 pages of investigation and full gallery of skimpily-dressed showgirls named in prosecutors’ papers and assembled for the first time by The Daily Telegraph.

“After the meal,” a woman on one of hundreds of surveillance tapes says, “I heard some girls saying 'Let’s go down to the bunga bunga (room)’, a sort of disco with sofas, a dance pole, a kind of bar and bathrooms where the girls changed into revealing outfits.” Half-naked starlets are then said to have performed pole dances, put on stripteases and “wriggled up to the prime minister provocatively on the sofa, rubbing him up and letting him have a feel, indulging in mock lesbian kisses and rubbing against each other”. Another woman is said to be wandering around topless, repeatedly kissing Mr Berlusconi.

One showgirl was ordered to dress up for the 74-year-old prime minister as a nurse. “You’ll have to get a white coat, with nothing on underneath of course,” she was told. “Put on a stethoscope, a nurse’s uniform and white stay-up stockings. You know how much he likes that sort of thing, playing the patient.”

The women were described unflatteringly by one witness as “a bunch of idiots who dance like mongols”.

The frenzied organising of the prime minister’s courtiers is revealed too, putting together gatherings in Milan, Rome, and on Lake Maggiore. A faithful lieutenant is taped saying: “He’s on form and raring to go. He’s just called me and he is on top form. This is the right evening but who can I find?”

A scramble ensues, and women compete to be at the parties because Mr Berlusconi is viewed, according to one newspaper, as a “cash machine for which you need no PIN”.
All we have to add is, the next time you hear of a rapper describing women as a bunch of "hos", you be sure to tell them why they're wrong, O.K.?

Between examples like this - and the way "no-fault" divorce works - we're 100% positive every word-slinger out there will believe you,...

It Never Ends (Because So Few Want To Stop It)

"The head of a new-age sect in Italy, said to have at least a thousand followers, has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing young girls and their mothers.

52-year-old Danilo Speranza is the founder of the 'Maya' sect – he is also accused of extortion.

Speranza created Maya in the 1980’s, aiming to help beat drug addiction with new age philosophies and yoga."

That Attachment To "Mama" Was A Tip-Off

"A transvestite Mafia boss has been arrested by cops in what is believed to be the first case of its kind in the world.

Ugo Gabriele, 27, who insisted on being called KITTY, was held by armed officers in a raid which also saw 27 other mobsters arrested.

Cross-dressing Gabriele, who had long blonde hair, ran a sophisticated drugs and prostitution racket in Naples, Italy, and his clan had dozens of members."

Tarot: New Agers (And The French) Are Loons

I just got this message (and video) from my friend, Tarockspieler:

"I don't read tarot cards, I play card games with them like spades or hearts! People in Europe play card games with a tarot deck but most Americans have been kept in the dark about these games. What tarot readers have been saying about tarot has been bad for game players and we should spread the word that divination is not the real intended purpose of the cards. Tarot was really made in 15th century Italy for a kind of card game and tarot fortune telling did not happen until the late 18th century! It's not really some ancient mysterious art like new agers would like us to think! If you see tarot card reading at a medieval or renaissance fair, it is out of period and is a pandering to the new age crowd."

And, boy, will people pander - Thanks!

Don't Be Scared (This Won't Hurt A Bit)

"As the 'quack busters' become more organised and active, evidence of the backlash against complementary medicine is appearing all over the place - such as the removal of PCT funding for homeopathy, the threatened closure of the homeopathic hospitals, many negative news stories in the press and so on,...some groups seem simply hell bent on trying to 'stamp out' complementary medicine in any way possible."
- Taken from Italy's frightened Cybermed News announcement that all references to SCAM have been eliminated from the BBCHealth website.

Methinks we have their attention now,...
