It's Time We Paid A Visit To The Elephant's Graveyard

Whoa. It's wild, the things racists don't tell you - and how there's just so much "stuff" we can fail to put it together. Like, I never knew these two guys broke the Koch Brothers story. Or that the Koch's father was a co-founder of the crazy John Birch Society.

Getting really interesting, I also didn't know they exposed Glenn Reynolds' girl friend at The Atlantic, Megan McArdle, as having a conflict of interest - being married to a guy who did astroturf campaigns - and who worked for the Tea Party's backers, FreedomWorks. (Notice she doesn't mention that here?)

I'd never heard the earliest Tea Party website was created BEFORE Rick Santelli did the famous rant that supposedly set the whole thing off. Or that the guy behind that website worked for Ron Paul. The same Ron Paul who, I do remember from 2009, had writings appearing in a white supremacist newsletter.

How'd anybody miss that?

Especially now that Rand Paul's mulling a run for the presidency?

Post-Trayvon, I HAVE learned Wisconsin's Scott Walker has a staff that's racist, and the boss even once had nice things to say about David Duke.

While Paul Ryan could've been the Vice President quoting Charles Murray. Whoa.

Like Martin Luther King's admonition to blacks not to work with Republicans  - while they scream MLK was one of them - it's wild the things racists don't tell you.

But I'm certainly getting an idea of where this is going now,….

The Problem In News Isn't News But Those Delivering It

I always get a sick feeling in my stomach when I read this stuff:
I think that hard news reporting is a great social good. But as the Internet has unbundled news, it has become clear that this isn't a social good for which many people are willing to pay. Reporters who thought that political and international news reporters, plus a few people who write long reported series about poverty and related “serious” subjects, constituted the apex of their profession, have been humbled to learn that readers considered us a moderately interesting freebie to thumb through on the way to the important stuff in the sports section.

This from Megan McArdle, a member of the club that wasted everybody's time arguing the travel arrangements of Mitt Romney's dog. How about these post-election "scandals" they're trying to keep alive? The hero Bradley Manning got 35 years. HELLO! The hero Snowden's in Russia. HELLO! The hero Assange is in hiding. HELLO! Whites ain't looking so good after Trayvon. HELLO!

It never occurs to NewAgers - they're doing it wrong. Fuck the sports section, they're mixed up with astrology, and the articles on yoga insure it never crosses their minds that maybe, just maybe, their voices might not be the most pertinent at the moment, if they ever were. They don't affect my life. I know people who die, they don't report it. They don't investigate. They don't care. I don't know what they care about that I'm expected to pay for. They don't topple the wicked. They can't tell right from wrong unless Anthony Weiner's waving his dick at 'em. I mean, when they're that clueless, why are they in the news business?

There's a lot of people out there who know they'll never be heard, and some of them sure seem to have a clue to what should be done.

These so-called "journalists" are so stupid they can't even establish water ain't medicine in their pages yet.

Pay them? I take it back:

They're less than clueless,...

Birthing Beatlemania From A Cavern In Germany (Again)

Quotes from Megan McArdle's "Whistleblowers Are Weird":

"Last night I saw a few tweets from people I respect noting that in coming days, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden may not look as noble as we now think him.  (I hope I'm wrong, one added.)"
"Imagine trash talking your family, your employer, or your country on national television--in a language that none of them speaks. In other words, imagine being disloyal in a way that was not detectable by the people you were betraying.  You probably still wouldn't do it anyway, would you?  It feels wrong.  You would feel bad about yourself if you did it."
"Psychopaths feel no guilt about doing these things--or stealing your money, your wife, and your dog. They are fundamentally untrustworthy, though also, thankfully rare."
"In coming days we will almost certainly realize that Edward Snowden is not like the rest of us. In fact, the details of his resume already released hint as much: a high school dropout somehow turned intelligence worker, who kept his live-in girlfriend in the dark about what he was doing and told her he was going on a business trip while he disappeared to Hong Kong. That's a hell of a way to break up with someone."

I'll stop there, since I never thought of this prick - or his supporters - as "noble."

Other than Edward Snowden causing some kind of destruction back home, I can think of only two things Megan McArdle and her delusional friends (not "we") have actually been rooting for:

1. MORE destruction back home - not just Snowden's girlfriend.

2. Snowden's girlfriend gets over it quickly, so she'll be cool enough to screw other ways.

Rest assured, that's when the screams become so loud you can't hear them playing,....

Working Together, Hand-In-Hand, To Make It All Happen

There's a reason I respect some people in Glenn Reynolds' clique more than others. Megan McArdle, for instance, sometimes tells the truth:
"This seems harsh to me; there's a lot of news out there, and sometimes we don't cover everything our readers would like."

See? What more can I ask for?

I'm not getting what I want - she says she's not giving it to me.

Voila! Modern journalism (and newspaper and magazine sales) explained.

Ahh, if only everything in the world were this easy,...

Boom Shakalakalaka Boom!

I linked to this this morning but everybody seems to be posting it now so,...:

A liberal's "most normal and rational thing in the world", easily demonstrated to be nothing more than the insane, unthoughtful, and hypocritical rhetoric Leftists use to scapegoat people and ideas they don't like.

I'm not a big fan of Bloggingheads, because - out of all the bloggers in the world - the people I see on it are almost always betamales, or whiny, and overly-neurotic women I wouldn't care to spend time with (Michelle Goldberg, on the left, being a prime example: the sound of her voice could kill cats) and whose perspectives are rarely anything more than just-above conventional. But Megan McArdle, at least, does truth some justice here, while allowing conservatives the knee-slapping entertainment of watching Ms. Goldberg go from so-supremely-sure of herself to unnervingly shifting her eyes, staring off in the distance, and becoming lost; admitting with only her body language she'd shown a fear, and uttered a "belief", with absolutely no sound basis what-so-ever.

Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, witness another Democrat's life-and-death "crisis" averted - by a dose of simple common sense.

It's really the answer to all their problems.

Pay No Attention To That Idiot In The Mirror

"Remember, what they accuse their opponents of is usually what they’re planning themselves . ."

-- Glenn Reynolds, catching on to the liberal projection thing - a psychological trick that also helps them avoid dealing with what they do because they're so busy ascribing their motivations to someone else - making them appear insane to me, but "fun" to the Instapundit.

Click the links and watch the Michelle Goldberg/Megan McArdle smackdown: It is kinda funny.

Beers For Breakfast & My Nightmarish Dreams

"Four years before I was born, man walked on the moon for the first time, the most magnificent single feat our little tribe of East African Plains Apes has ever managed. Now we don’t even do that. What happened to the dream? Government mismanagement, yes, but something more than that, too, some failure of imagination and will."
-- Megan McArdle, wondering aloud from her Matrix-like cocoon, in The Atlantic.

Oh, Megan, Megan, Megan. It's still early in the morning, and for you to speak of a "failure of imagination and will" in this time of "Hope and Change" almost made me spill my beer.

Where have you been, woman? Out hanging with Joe Biden?

Don't you know, despite the fact there were 400,000 people involved in it, the truly modern folks of today question that whole deal? And don't you also know they have different, completely Earth-bound, dreams now? Today, whether they've ever done anything significant or not, "our little tribe of East African Plains Apes" proclaim themselves gods and demand others acknowledge them as such - or else. They write to me and ask, "Don't you want to be a god, too?" But like you, understanding what effort it took to fly to the heavens, I try to laugh at them. Unfortunately, like my beer breakfast, it seems to be something done alone.

This lonely foster child, also like you, spent a lot of time in school daydreaming, so I know what I'm talking about - it was a signature trait of my youth. I was always being abused, by teachers and preachers and students, for drifting away from whatever they thought was important for me to hear.

One kid even stopped me from blankly staring out a school bus window, specifically thinking of space exploration, by throwing an unopened can of purple soda and hitting me in the head. Yes, Megan, let me tell you, those were the days!

My respect for most people - and what they "think" - hasn't budged much since then, and nowadays, many so-called "enlightened" folks think nothing of harassing me - and others - for pretty much still doing the exact same thing. They "think nothing" of it. Get it?

Oh, I've still got my sense of humor, Megan Ol' Girl.

Good thing, too, because I find that, as I grow older, I still seem to be on an opposite trajectory from most people.

I find that, as they discover this medieval superstition called NewAge "spirituality", my abusers have become more like a perverted version of the dreamer I was, while I've acheived a certain maturity about trying to make my dreams come true.

So "What happened to the dream?"? C'mon, Megan, don't play dumb:

Those were dreams played out by men in crewcuts - men with "The Right Stuff" - and, as The Eagles sang in "Hotel California", we "haven't had that spirit here since 1969".

You'd do better to ask why losers, like the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, caught on.

Or why Oprah Winfrey is popular, with her coterie of Wise Men, like Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil, Rhonda Byrne, Marianne Williamson, and (most importantly) "The One"?

Why does Bill Clinton listen to Ken Wilber, or Hillary seek out Jean Houston? Why does Congresswoman Jean Harmon think she can gain real-world political insight from talking to a yogi?

Don't you know? They're a new breed of leader! These shamans, I mean, not the stupid politicians who follow them.

A bunch of ignorant men going to the moon - or even Mars - can't answer these brilliant post-feminist figures deepest yearnings anymore - that calls for going inside, Baby!

Seeing what's beyond the stars just made preachers switch to speaking of the "Heaven within".

See, "we are stardust and we are golden" - just like that damn calf idiots danced around in the Bible, except now they dance around each other at raves - and, instead of turning water into wine, we've got Senator Tom Harkin claiming it's medicine. He can do that, and hardly anyone's going to question him on it.

Going into space? Puh-leaze. It can't hold a candle to this shit.

They're obsessed with "Saving The Planet" now, or haven't you heard?

I recently, and openly, asked a similar question as yours of (your friends as well as mine?) professors (and bloggers) Ann Althouse and Glenn Reynolds - the two fine folks standing in the center there - and one commenter said:
"I also think it is curious that New Age is not seen as a threat. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that New Age doesn't require anything of anyone other than 'being open to everything', sort of how a pedophile might be the nicest guy in your neigborhood, 'open to everything'.

Once you get burned though, shame sets in, and self-blame. Victims often go quiet.

New age then moves on, it dresses up as something else, something even 'more real'. And New Age never takes a stand. it just sucks you dry and works on keeping folks from picking up on the stench.

Althouse and Reynolds can't quite put their finger on this. They smell it, but they won't look for the unrecognizable rotten dead rat behind the dishwasher. They talk about the stench and not the rat. Your article about France was about the stench in a sense, so it is on the periphery where they'd rather dwell."
Megan, NewAge is the stuff that's squashing our dreams. Holding them, and the rest of us, hostage in a Dreamcatcher. They're a nightmare come true.

Just as these cultural authorities of the hippie generation once shouted "Don't trust anyone over 30!" we must now declare "Don't trust anyone over 50!" because they are the enemy of success - and, if you don't see the proof of that everywhere now, then you're blind.

What we haven't done, at their request, is pin them down.

They'll scream "McCarthy!" They'll scream "Witch hunt!" They'll scream we have no right to challenge their "beliefs". Sure.

But that is exactly what's called for - that, and me getting another beer.

You know, The Macho Response.
