Arianna Huffington: While The Puffington Host's Rubes Clapped, She's Been In TMR's Crosshairs

I asked this the other day, regarding Fergie and psychics, and now I'm forced to ask it again about this "loopy new-age cut-throat bitch" - do you people think I pick my targets at random?

A strike called by unpaid Huffington Post contributors received a major boost Wednesday with a call to arms released by the national Newspaper Guild.

The industry association called on contributors not currently on strike to cease contributions and asked members to help by “shining a light on the unprofessional and unethical practices of this company.”

The Newspaper Guild boasts 26,000 members and is affiliated with the Communications Workers of America (CWA). The CWA is affiliated with the AFL-CIO.

The strike was called earlier this year by the membership of Visual Art Source, whose 50 members had previously contributed content for free to the site.

“Just as we would ask writers to stand fast and not cross a physical picket line, we ask that they honor this electronic picket line,” wrote the Guild.

“This is about supporting the quality and integrity of a vehicle for progressive expression, to actually help Huffington Post succeed, but on the right terms,” wrote the Guild. “We call on Arianna Huffington to demonstrate her commitment to the working class she so ardently champions in her writing.”

Bwa-ha-ha-ha! Here, let me answer that with a quote from Dana Milbank in a previous post on Zsa Zsa:

"If anybody was fooled, it was those who believed she would be a more enduring progressive than she was a conservative."

In other words, anyone who trusts a liar like Arianna Huffington - and I'll say anyone who trusts a confirmed NewAger - is the rube.

Dana & Arianna: The Man On The Moon Beams

Even if it's The Washington Post's Dana Milbank, out of all the coverage we've seen of Arianna Huffington's AOL coup, at least somebody said it - emphasis added by us:

This transformation should come as no surprise to anybody who has followed Huffington's remarkable career. Greek-born and Cambridge-educated, she has always been on the move ideologically, from her early squabbles with feminism to her role as a minister with the new-age Movement for Spiritual Inner Awareness, from her membership in Newt Gingrich's brain trust to her stint as populist activist - all before her greatest act, the Huffington Post.

So Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington's back to being "a minister within" the NewAge movement, though when originally questioned about her involvement (during Michael Huffington's political career) she denied everything.

Somebody's lying and it's not us.

We're also enjoying Dana's claim that "Huffington deserves every one of those millions she'll be paid by AOL for creating this online sensation."

What's so cool about that line?

As far as we know, this is the first time in the modern history of the country, at least since the days of the Old West, when a charlatan could ride into town and establish an outpost - to sell water to the rubes and call it medicine - and an American journalist is seen openly applauding the fraud.

To claim Dana Milbank "has lost the plot" is an understatement.

Speaking of losing the plot, we also got a chuckle out of Arianna's statement that the Republican Party had once "seduced, fooled, blinded, bamboozled" her.

Dana says this is "crazy talk".

(Yea: this poor guy might be in need of some serious counseling,...)

But let's say Arianna was being honest - just this once - we can pretend, right?

Isn't she admitting her judgment - political, spiritual, or otherwise - can't be trusted?

Not hard to believe, considering she did marry a guy she claims not to have known was gay - another whopper she's never been held accountable for,...tell us:

How many out-and-out lies do the rich and powerful get to tell before our intrepid reporters start asking the hard questions?

Normal folks usually get one,...

Jane Harman: One Less Worry To Worry About

Great news - a California yogi is leaving Congress:

U.S. Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice), a leading congressional voice on anti-terrorism issues, plans to resign from Congress to head up the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, a senior congressional source confirmed Monday, setting up a special election to choose her successor in a coastal district that stretches from Venice into the South Bay.

Now, we're sure, some folks have bought the BS about yoga, and how it's such a calming influence on people, helping them to become "balanced" and better decisions makers. But the real world evidence has always suggested otherwise. From 2009:

Jane Harman is so shrill and angry today.  She sounds like some sort of unhinged leftist blogger.  As The Washington Post's Dana Milbank so insightfully asked this week, what could any Democrat possibly have to be angry about?  After all, they won.

Yea, what? Especially in Harman's case, since she talks to her yoga instructor about national issues and all.

Maybe the truth is what we've been saying all along - that NewAgers and other "self-help" types have problems, which is why they do these things, but treating themselves doesn't help - they need to be under the care of a professional.

And a professional yoga master don't cut it.

Silly us, we'd think anyone elected to public office would know that.

Ha: No One Has Any Idea Why We Talk Like This

Jesus Christ: These Two Guys Are Loo-serrrrs

This entire production, from top to bottom, is a demonstration of inadequacy. Two bad leads. I mean, the kind of white guys people just love to hate, telling one bad joke after another, their every utterance enough to make one wonder how they ever excelled in life while others struggle to keep food on the table.

Some people are up in arms because these two twits said Hillary Clinton should drink "Mad Bitch" beer; which I find hilarious, because it also shows how many people are clueless to the image Hillary Clinton has projected. They can hardly point fingers, in her defense, because to do so proves you're all mad:

How did The Washington Post think this was funny? How do you think offending Hillary I'll-do-anything-for-power Clinton is wrong? Why, I don't think it's a stretch to suggest that anyone "offended" by Hillary jokes practically acted as a third party in making this lame piece of video happen. You folks can't figure out which way is up.

Sigh. I'm really fighting the urge to say it, because I love my country, but, damn it, too many of it's people are just pathetic now.

In The White House (But Not Exactly "All There")

-- An anonymous commenter, speaking to Dana Milbank - who's noticed that "even under Obama, the anger on the left is, if anything, more personal and vitriolic than on the right" - though Democrats think of themselves as the sane and non-threatening party (projection, again, anyone?) in The Washington Post.

A Cabal Of Outraged Clowns

"[Dana] Milbank’s lone racist at the rally soon became a group (or a mob) of people shouting racial epithets. A New York Times editorial Tuesday (“The Politics of Attack”) misquoted Milbank’s Post column, claiming that one person shouted “Kill him” and “others shouted epithets at an African-American member of a TV crew.” Many blogs followed suit: “Crowd at Palin Rally Hurled Racial Epithets at African American on News Crew,” read the headline at Pensito Review. This was too much for Bob Somerby, the left-leaning blogger at the Daily Howler. Calling Milbank “a highly unreliable chronicler,” Somerby taunted the Times for multiplying racists at the rally: “It’s the power of pluralization!...One example becomes much more powerful when we stick an ‘s’ on the end. In this case, one epithet-shouter turns into a group. How many people were shouting those epithets? The editors let you imagine.”

At the Huffington Post, the “Kill him” shout directed at Ayers was interpreted as an assassination threat against Obama. Another Huffington piece asked, “Is Palin Trying to Incite Violence Against Obama?” As the misreporting gathered steam on the Internet, writers became ever angrier. “The event sounds like the precursor to a lynching,” wrote a Daily Kos blogger. Another opined: “There is a time to start feeling fear.” Former New York Times reporter Adam Clymer compared Palin events with George Wallace speeches, though he gracefully conceded that “lots of journalists have worked in situations more menacing than covering Sarah Palin.”

This was a disastrous outing for the Post, the Times, and bloggers determined to view Palin appearances as brownshirt rallies. If the atmosphere is so hate-filled and racist at these events, why does the evidence come down to one shouter at one rally?"
