I wish I had access to whatever drugs Ann Althouse took in her youth - they had to be mind-blowing:

  Maybe Boehner is the woman endlessly imploring her man to talk about their relationship, and Reid is the taciturn man who's waiting for her to give up and do what the junior partner in a marriage is supposed to do: what he says.

Alternatively, Boehner is the man who relentlessly pursues his ex-girlfriend asking only for a chance to talk to her, and the woman — Reid — curtly informs him that there's nothing to talk about.

We instinctively turn away.

Well, she does anyway, because - as I've often said - Miss I Shut Off Comments To Concentrate On My Writing doesn't care if what she says is wrong, as long as the woman "wins". 

Notice two things:

1) Reid has the Constitution on his side, and Ann's a law professor, but our little Guide To Life is portrayed as male oppression - doing "what he says." And only "the junior partner in a marriage" does that.

2) In Ann's feminist outlook, naturally, even if the woman isn't oppressed by the man, she's ending the relationship to get her way - again, our little Guide To Life plays no role in the law professor's reasoning. It's utterly irrelevant. She simply doesn't want to give in and it's been made very clear she doesn't have to - everyone and everything else be damned.

In both scenarios, using magical thinking, there's no basis for wrong or right (the Constitution, Wedding vows, whatever) involved in the woman's decision making. She'll never be wrong. She'll never be right, either - she just destroys everything, to validate claiming she was wronged.

And that is because people have usually turned away. ("They came for the Communists,...") I know - shouldn't go there - but I'm very familiar with people who have utilized the situation and feelings Ann's describing. 

But, then, so are quite a few divorcees,...

We told you TMR's mantra ("If you defeat the Democrats, they'll be back, but - if you defeat NewAge - we're done with the whole lot of them") and here's the proof we're right, from Charles Krauthammer:

Back to Square One - great. Obama should be considering suicide, but nooooo! You people - yes, Glenn Reynolds, we're talking to you - thinking you're so fucking smart (Oh, everything's going to be different because you're into politics now!) will still never learn.

The Left originally threw the Right on it's heels by attacking it's religious beliefs (Bush was doing God's work, remember?) now, to ignore the Left's nonsense in a political battle, is insanity - especially when 80% of the country is Christian.

It should be obvious - you attack where the opposition is weakest - and the Left has no defenses for NewAge. So muster your forces, call on your God, whatever - but, first, you've got to know where to attack:

This Is Why I'm A Republican (And Love Politics)

After Alvin Greene showed up, and then Basil Marceaux (above) followed him, I thought this political season couldn't get any goofier. But now good ol' Basil done gone and made a video! Yeah! He mumbles, he stumbles, he inseminates the pregnant pause! He misspells his graphics and his policies miss content altogether! Listen up, America: He's going to make the flag fly right!

Really, can you imagine how bad the Democrats are, if I'm willing to be in the same party as this guy? I mean, he's not as repulsive, nor could he possibly do as much damage, as Gavin Newsom. He's more charming than Barack, and more honest than Pelosi. By just making this video - who knew? - he's shown he's got more fight in him than Harry Reid, and he's probably more patriotic than every member of the Democratic Party combined! I don't care if he's got the I.Q. of an ear of corn, he's unquestionably an American, and - from that starting point - down for whatever, and that's what I want to see no matter how stupidly presented. Truly Headed On The Wrong Track

A Future That's Easy To Predict

"The issue is not William Ayers per se, but you have to ask, would you let your child play at his house?

The issue is not Reverend Wright. To each his own. but would you let your child listen to that hate? The issue is that there is a pattern in Barack Obama's associations. The list is long and the associations span decades of questionable judgement. This is the point that John McCain and Sarah Palin are trying to make.

However, as much as I am concerned by these past associations, it is his future associations that keep me up at night. Who are these associations? Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Howard Dean, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, and Charles Rangel. This group are the leaders of the Democrat Party. They currently hold key leadership spots in Congress.

What have they accomplished in the last two years? Not much. It's not surprising that they have a 13% approval rating, 9% at it's low. With this group in charge and the possibility of a filibuster-proof majority, there will no longer be checks and balances in our government. There have only been a handful of times in our history where one party has had this much power in government.

There is one big difference between when this occurred in the past and it occurring now.... The Media. Americans were able to depend on the media to hold politicians accountable. They were able to tell the American people when their government had let them down or were about to. We no longer have that watch dog."

Keeping A Bead On Harry Reid (Ain't Easy)

The Democrats lie so often - as individuals and as a party - it can hardly be surprising anyone believes them, though it still is. Here we've got news of their leader, Harry Reid (who just a few days ago requested John McCain come back to Washington) now declaring that McCain's return was a "political stunt" that ruined Reid's deal - a deal that never actually happened. It's such a convoluted lie - requiring everyone to know it was Reid himself who called McCain back - that somebody might fall for it, right? Right?
