And So Began The Cartoon Wars Of Medicine

"[Samuel Hahnemann], who founded homeopathy, had coined the term 'allopath' to describe conventional medical practitioners -- in effect, his enemies."
-- Dr. Ira Rutkow, in a review of David Dary's "Frontier Medicine", appearing in The Wall Street Journal.

The Macho Response: Tim Minchin

"I don’t have any respect for religious belief. I respect people’s right to have it. I am absolutely respectful of people’s right to do what they want but intellectually I don’t respect the conclusion they’ve drawn, I think it’s crazy. I just don’t even begin to empathise with being able to believe that stuff.

I mean I studied philosophy and philosophy of logic at [university] and stuff, and it just set me on a path…I’m really obsessed with critical thinking more than religion. My issue with religion is intellectual, but if you say, ‘do you think religion is bad?’ I can talk for an hour on the subject but it’s not, ‘yes religion is bad, let’s abolish all religion.’ It’s definitely bad in some ways and it’s amazing in other ways and it’s inevitable because humans have these instincts to fill in these holes and all that. However, if you ask me wether it’s the correct conclusion? I mean it’s not even a question to me, you know...so um, it’s an intellectual obsession.

...It’s like I’m forced to say what I think because what I think is all I’ve got….and I happen to think a lot about that stuff so that’s what comes out…It’s not because I’ve gone 'I want to tell people what I think!' It’s because I’ve become a comedy performer that people want to watch and so I need to write new shows and when I write new shows it’s going to be based on ideas I’ve had….like this whole show culminates in a huge beat poem called 'Storm'…that clarifies everything; it’s this huge rant and it finishes with the question ‘isn’t this enough, just this world?’ and it’s quite serious actually and I’m more proud of that poem than of anything I’ve ever written in terms of trying to clarify my own thoughts, you know. And people react very strongly to it, like people agree with me. It’s not anti-religion, it’s anti floppy thought, it’s anti psychics and….

Why do we need to….the world’s so exciting if you examine it, don’t get lazy and just say, 'well I believe in ghosts and…homeopathy and…psychics and…. don’t, that’s fine, it’s fine look…Just don’t teach your kids that they should feel guilty about masturbating. It’s the ramifications that matter, apart from just the intellectual intrigue it’s the ramifications that matter.

...My compulsion is to make silliness out of big issues…But I think that spreading the idea of critical thinking and scepticism is important in the world and if I have a platform to do that then I’m very proud that I’m doing that and not spreading sexism or racism or just f**k you-ism or prejudice."

-- Tim Minchin, pretty much spelling out the only defensible intellectual position for an artist to have - especially if, like me, you've been put through the wringer and seen it all - and wish you could just get back to Altsounds.

No, You Can Stay Here And Be A Pain-In-The-Ass

"Now I don't have to move to Canada."

-- David Segal, giving us one of the memorabilia messages those "patriotic" Obama supporters are snapping up, in a paper that's admitted it's biased reporting - after the election was over - The Washington Post.

A "Plot" Is Another Word For "The Grave"

"As the Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, an economist, anti-totalitarian and climate change sceptic, prepares to take up the rotating presidency of the European Union next year, climate alarmists are doing their best to traduce him.

The New York Times opened a profile of Klaus, 67, this week with a quote from a 1980s communist secret agent's report, claiming he behaves like a 'rejected genius', and asserts there is 'palpable fear' he will 'embarrass' the EU.

But the real fear driving climate alarmists wild is that a more rational approach to the fundamentalist religion of global warming may be in the ascendancy...

One of Australia's leading enviro-sceptics, the geologist and University of Adelaide professor Ian Plimer, 62, says he has noticed audiences becoming more receptive to his message that climate change has always occurred and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

'Climates have always changed and they always will',...'There is no relationship between CO2 and temperature.'

...Creationists and climate alarmists are quite similar in that 'we're dealing with dogma and people who, when challenged, become quite vicious and irrational'.

Human-caused climate change is being 'promoted with religious zeal … there are fundamentalist organisations which will do anything to silence critics. They have their holy books, their prophet [is] Al Gore. And they are promoting a story which is frightening us witless [using] guilt [and urging] penance.'

It is difficult for non-scientists to engage in the debate over what causes climate change and whether or not it can be stopped by new taxes and slower growth, because dissenting voices are shouted down by true believers in the scientific community who claim they alone have the authority to speak.'

-- Miranda Devine, showing A) the NYT is America's enemy that will do anything (including quoting the KGB) to advance the NewAge agenda, and B) the EU knows it faces embarrassment (or, hopefully, more) if this silly plot is exposed, and C) even scientists have formed a cult that promotes this outlandish idea, though they can't fool The Sydney Morning Herald.

*Click on the "climate change" and "global warming" tags, below, for much more on this NewAge plot - and why those who advanced it should be prosecuted, to the fullest extent of the law, for attempting to bankrupt us.

The Score (Stupid Don't Have To Mean Forever)

It's truly incredible:

Adults buying into ideas any 5-year old can see through.

Supposedly-educated people are blowing billions of dollars "studying" if water has a memory and if people can shoot mystic fire through their fingers.

And the majority of people who are "open-minded" to those unlikely ideas are the same ones who rail like nobody's business against a belief in Jesus - while registering no sense of hypocrisy what-so-ever. They even have the nerve to demand respect as they do so.

It's all very weird to me, because I can't be touched by this stuff - except to be surrounded by people who believe in some facet of it - which is a sort of Hell because any hope for a nice, normal, sane conversation (with people who hold no standards for proof) is impossible.

I'll never forget the chill that ran down my spine after telling my ex-wife a quack had killed her mother, and she replied, "You're just saying that because you don't believe." That's how insanity strikes me: like a shock to my nervous system. (I've hardly been able to play music since I discovered this stuff.) It's a physical sensation that really makes me dislike certain people, which I never hear the believers mention as they discuss their "positive" need to cause it. It's just all about them and what they get out of it: no one else counts.

Now my ex-wife and that quack are being investigated for two more murders. And for nothing at all. Nothing. Just a bunch of "beliefs" that led them to kill people. I get letters from their supporters, but they, too, steadfastly refuse to acknowledge the dead, or the pain it's caused me.

It's all about them and their anecdotal evidence - "It worked for me!" - with no concern for reason, the waste of resources, the deadly con that transpired, or the victim's families.

As the Western World appears to be going to Hell in a handbasket, I can't help but deduce it's because the previous generation (which was huge) started a process that is best defined by the phrase, "garbage in, garbage out."

Someone convinced them to "question everything" and, somehow, they seem to have gotten permanently locked into that phase every three year old goes through where they endlessly repeat "Why?" - totally missing what every adult discovers when encountering a scamp in that precocious period: asking questions is easy while endlessly coming up with answers is hard.

And anyone who's been through that experience knows an adult will eventually get really sick of that kid.

So what to do? I don't know. I've tried screaming "Grow up!" but my older brothers and sisters are convinced they don't have to - even after raising kids of their own.

My guess is watching an entire generation of spiteful troublemakers insist on dying pathetically, like Elizabeth Targ, will be enough to show those who follow them the error of their ways. Maybe not.

Personally, I'm just happy to know, one day, they'll be gone, and things can get back to some semblance of normalcy around here.

He Killed His Wife, Didn't He?

It's Madness, I Tell You:

"We are witnessing a new hysterical style, in which the Baby Boomer "me generation" that now runs America jettisons knowledge of the past and daily proclaims that each new development requires both a radical solution and another bogeyman to blame for being mean or unfair to them.

We haven't seen such frenzy since the Y2K sham, when we were warned to stock up on flashlights and bottled water as our nation's computers would simply shut down on Jan. 1, 2000 -- and with them the country itself.

Get a grip. Much of our current panic is psychological, and hyped by instantaneous electronic communications and second-by-second 24-hour news blasts. There has not been a nationwide plague that felled our workers. No earthquake has destroyed American infrastructure. The material United States before the September 2008 financial panic is largely the same as the one after. Once we tighten our belts and pay off the debts run up by Wall Street speculators and millions of borrowers who walked away from what they owed others -- and we can do this in a $13 trillion annual economy -- sanity will return."

-- Victor Davis Hanson, still trying to make sense of the cultish lunacy (and lock-step) of the chronically insecure Boomers - and the group-think kids they raised - that is surely gripping this nation, this time on Real Clear Politics.

I Don't Care What You People Say: There Is Something That Has Gone Very Wrong With Women, Society - And Just About Everything

American Got Ick

"I offer no apologies,...for thinking our education, entertainment, public morality and manners, as well as popular ethics, have all devolved since the 1960s. In the present arrogance of this age, we seem to think that everyone of the past, before being enlightened by the 1960s therapeutic generation, was either a bigot or sexist.

A,...unscientific anecdote: I remember my grandfather (died on our present farm in 1976 where he was born in 1890), as he walked through Selma, paying his bills in person (and usually in cash), with 'Yes, sir' to those who had far less money than he, or spoke only poor English. He endlessly worried about the occasional deleterious effects on us of watching an 'adult' and sometimes 'violent' show like
Gunsmoke with him on Saturday nights, and as a treat offering us (my two brothers and me) one Frosty 7 oz. Rootbeer per week from his private stash, and apparent only obvious sinful splurge. In such a supposedly biased and Neanderthal age, he mortgaged his 120 acre farm in 1939 to stay alive, and, strange to say in such rough times, to ensure that his two daughters could go to Stanford University, a third, crippled with polio, he sent to San Jose State where he arranged for a helper to watch over her. He paid off those debts promptly by the 1950s, as contracted. I think he was more the norm (readers will immediately cite similar even more unusual examples of their own kin) than the caricatures of illiberal Americans in the age before the CSU Monterey Bay curriculum saved us all.

Once again, I note,...critics on the hard Left continue to lack humor; when they should be ecstatic with the triumph of Obama and the new majority in the Congress, they seem instead curiously consumed by their petty anger and bitterness.  And now even the ritual totem George Bush is gone at which to chant and revile. No matter; this is a wonderful country and we are so lucky to be alive in the here and now in the United States."

-- Victor Davis Hanson, saying many things I'm thinking - but in a classy manner that embarrasses me for how much better it is - but that's Pajamas Media.

Lesson Learned: You Gotta Keep An Eye On 'Em

"A Carroll woman who was caught having sex in the men's room at an Iowa Hawkeye football game in Minneapolis last weekend says she’d had so much wine before kickoff that she doesn’t remember walking into the restroom, the man she had sex with in a stall, or when the police opened the door.

What Lois Feldman, 38, will remember is the humiliation afterward.

'It’s ruined my life,' she said through tears today. 'Not just the incident but the press.'

Feldman, a married mother of three, has been the target of Internet jokes and prank telephone calls today. She was fired this morning from an assisted living center, where she had been an administrator.

Feldman said her husband, Kelly, has been supportive. She said he faults himself for not going with her when she left her seat to use the restroom before halftime."

-- Staci Hupp, listening to every excuse under the sun except "I was a stupid whore", in The Des Moines Register.

The Thanksgiving Day Parade (And The Game)

"I happen to think the media is up to a bit of mischief here.  I think the media wants to take Sarah Palin and make her, subliminally, the face of the Republican party,...because it amuses them to do that,...the media is playing a little game there."

-- Peggy Noonan, taking a guess - as if we needed more proof - the media is America's enemy, attempting to actively manipulate public opinion, on News Busters.

Not true, you say? Couldn't be, you (continually) cry? Then how do you explain this turkey?:

Hat Tip: Hot Air

So yea - it's "Turkey Day" - and I, for one, will have no bird with all the fixin's.

I've also got no wife (but lots of wonderful memories of her adultery).

And I've got no family (but lots of wonderful memories of foster homes).

And - especially now that my ex-wife and her (Herr?) "doctor" have turned out to be as creepily kooky as I've always said - I've got few "friends" who can now look me in the eye because (after a lifetime of trying to do the right thing) they ruthlessly abandoned me while advancing the NewAge theory that I, as the wrong kind of "macho" man, had to have done something to chase such a wonderful woman away.

And, yet, I'm still thankful for many things - starting with being done with the whole lying (and always cheating) lot of them.

I'm thankful to be an American.

I'm thankful to not be a stupid liberal (or a stupid conservative) and I'm thankful I've still got my health - no thanks to my ex and her (Herr?) "doctor". (Hey Karine: remember that SURGERY I was supposed to get after you started kanoodling with that asshole? Still hasn't happened, bitch. Thanks a lot for bringing so much NewAge "peace and love" into my life and the world. Good job, babe!)

Shit, where was I?

Oh yea - I'm thankful for the friends who've stuck by me. And I'm thankful for my new friends (online and off).

Because of you, though my music career has been (temporarily) halted, for obviously personal reasons, I don't need a motivational guru to go on.

(Hell, at this point, a decent job offer would do it.)

I guess what I'm trying to say is (again) even though I'm sitting all alone in a cold room with my floor covered in old newspapers, typing away at an increasingly rickety 5-year old computer - once again trying to make a coherent connection with an outside world I increasingly feel more and more disconnected from - I can still find a lot to be grateful for in my life.

I don't need a belief system, or tradition, or "all the trimmings".

To my fellow Americans - especially to those liberals who, by luck of the draw, have so much more - I want you to take only one lesson from this post:

Listening to your empty bitchin' (whether for the last 8 years - or now that you've discovered conservatives will vomit up the results of the accumulated poison-in-black-face you've been shoving down our throats) certainly does nothing to help a situation like mine.

But then, even for your increasingly precious blacks, being a comfort (to anyone who doesn't believe your bullshit) has never been what NewAge was after, was it? Hell no.

So Zeig Heil, motherfuckers, you don't fool me for a second - and you'd better know for me, despite losing this last battle, The Big Game is still going on:

Stuff your face with it.

I Don't Even Know Who You Are Anymore

I'm playing Instapundit today, but I'll be playing which yo mamma tonight - and the results will be beautiful:

"You know how they say that religion is the opiate of the masses? Well, I took masses of opiates religiously."

Great line.

It's the craziest thing: if I stay here and pound away at this, my stats go up. Announce that I can't do it as much, my stats go down. Then, when I actually walk away from it, my stats go back up - wildly. Anybody got an idea why?

I need to find the key to online success,...'cause this sure ain't it:

null - Watch more free videos

I helped a lady with MS yesterday and it did me a lot of good. Her too. If you ask me, it sure beats Obama's recovery plan. (You guys do know the stuff in red text are links, don't you? Based on some e-mails I'm getting, I'm starting to wonder,...it's the internet, you idiots - click on something! It'll "enhance your experience",...or so "they" say.)

Speaking of Obama, he looks about 12-years old standing behind that "Office of the President-Elect" thingy. Did he make it himself? Michelle should put a gold star on their refrigerator for him.

BTW, I heard him giving a speech, today, where he sent a message to the "workers of the world" - but I'm supposed to believe he's not a socialist. Sure he's not a socialist,... He can't even keep their rhetoric out of his mouth.

And my roomy thinks socialism itself is a cult. Yea: we have some very interesting debates at my house.

Jesus, who's cutting this guy's hair?

Look into his eyes - and not at that thing on his head.

I repeat,...

South Korea wants to throw folks in jail for adultery. Considering the mental prison it locks the cuckolded spouse in, possibly for years, I don't think it's altogether a bad idea. Why should the cheating bitch or bastard have all the fun?

This photo is from an adultery case in Kenya. (And here I was thinking they were behind us in everything.) See what a clear understanding (and close encounter with) nazi-like NewAge thinking does to people who aren't in it? I'm actually getting off on punishment now,...that's what I really call "changing the vibration of the planet"!

Salon.com's Glenn Greenwald has noticed that TIME's Joe Klein changes his mind. A Democrat who's hypocritical and won't stay on point? Stop the presses. No, really. Just stop 'em. They're worthless now.

If you ask me, "hypocrisy", "liberal", and "Democrat" go together waaay too nicely.

One more thing: the list of the 10 most violent American cities came out and they're all run by Democrats. Methinks those guys who started buying guns when Obama got elected see the writing on the country's walls.

Christopher Hitchens doesn't think Hillary should be Secretary of State. Hey - this is the "change" he voted for - and, as a new American, it's a pretty lame way for him to have started out.

"Guys are known a lot more for what they do than for what they look like. In fact, male vanity has long been suspect. That's why they had a program called 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.' If you dress too well, you must be gay."

Or French. Or something weird.

From the I-Told-You-So Dept.:

"Global Warming Predictions Overestimated-- Its a Hoax."

Yea, and a NewAge hoax at that. El Stupido.

"Progressives will continue to lose until we can successfully relabel LGBT rights a civil-rights issue situated firmly within the context of other civil-rights struggles, not an issue mired in the culture-war swamp of moral controversy."

Yea, good luck with that. Maybe, at some point, you folks should try making sense,...you never know:

It just might work.

Canada's new Minister of State for Science and Technology is a chiropractor and acupuncturist. They should change his office title to Minister of State for Quackery and Pseudoscience now, no?

This photo's labeled "Moose" but all I see is "cameltoe" - and lots of it,...scary.

"Happy" people don't watch television. "Happy" people also don't get to see Adult Swim. And that's the moral of this story: "Happy" people are stupid people who grin a lot.

Their sofa is haunted. And so are their minds. I'd say it's a case for "Doctor" Robert Wohlfahrt!!!

Scientology’s "Stress Test" Is A Scam? No way! Why, those "nice" NewAgers would never do anything like that, riiight? Sure: suck my nuts, you fucking nuts.

News Flash: lap-dancing isn’t sexual.

Using NewAge logic, I believe it: I was married for 20 years to a NewAge cylon who didn't think marriage meant loving each other for life either - even after she made me promise and everything. (It's all about how you look at it, I guess.) And no: I couldn't find a picture with a female robot. There just wasn't enough time to get it right.

And finally, the right Reverend Jeremiah Wright is still talking a mile-a-minute.

And, yep, we can all thank God for that.
