"The Sweep Of History" Is For The Guy Holding A Broom

While he's speaking TMR's language, Victor Davis Hanson doesn't seem to be aware conservatives now do this, too:

It's also difficult, James Taranto, to see how the Right continues to think they're going to win anything, ever again, utilizing these tactics:

Sorry, Everybody, but you voted for Mitt Romney. You're as big a group of hypocrites as the Dems are - maybe even bigger - so now what?

The guy we mentioned in Thursday's closing item, who got stuck in the Cayman Islands with a 128-foot yacht, is not, as we implied, the owner of the yacht but a small-businessman who makes his living moving yachts for others. Occasionally we go for the cheap laugh and end up underpaying.

And that's the thing. That ability, to hurt people who are already hurting, and then walk away with a, possibly self-deprecating, tah-tah.

How is the Right going to fix that image of itself?

Say what you want about them - and I will - but the Democrats don't have that problem. They may not fix shit, but what is the average American going to think, today, when looking at two hypocrite parties?

"Well, at least, one of them seems to care about me."

I remember - just a few months ago - the Republican Party was openly admitting it had to fix itself.

I still haven't seen an update on how that's going,...

  1. The best thing to do is to quit making monkey noises, and not be blase about other people's suffering or future suffering.

In other words, don't take the bait -- and really stick to some principles worth sticking to.

In other words, to act like grownups.

That's why the Republicans are not winning and won't anymore if they keep this up. It isn't because I think the Democrats are any better (they most certainly aren't imhao), but the Republicans (or what used to be Republicans, appears many of them don't like that name anymore, after they drug it through the mud) aren't setting themselves apart.

And that's why I brought up ol' Leon in regards to the Redskins brouhaha:

It seems a bit odd that this whole thing should come up at this time, and I think if Indians really were important to other Americans then some hard, probing questions should get asked -- and not falling for the brouhaha of a stupid football team's name (which admittedly, is an issue, but in the big picture, not the biggest issue).
Which brings us back to how the whole Martin/Zimmerman mess could have been handled better -- instead of "neener, neener".
It isn't about skin color or trifling crap at all in the end.

And I'm not a good nor nice person, so this is coming from a very disreputable sinner: if you really want to have principles, a person has to start at the basic ones and forget the shallow, cheap point scoring; then and only then can a person avoid the charge of hypocrite and actually affect some change for the better (damn, I love using the word "change" anymore).
A person has to stop being so blase about shit.

  3. Mr. Althouse, you seem to not be able to understand the concept of future conditional in a sentence.

Or is it that you don't care as long as you have or get yours?

I'm not really happy that the Republicans are in this mess -- it means we likely will get Democrat majorities (and history has proven them to be untrustworthy with power; history also tells us not to be happy when only one group winds up with all the power). You seem to be just dandy with it however, willing to crow about laurels that are already turning brown.
