New Game: What Worthless False Hope (For NewAgers) Can They Effortlessly Exploit A Homeless Veteran Into?

I told everybody this was "a pretty shitty thing to do" but - hey - NewAge do-gooders loovvve believing whatever they see on the internets, don't they?

Because Alcoholic Anonymous' success rate was still not available,...

  1. No, sadly, not surprising.

I don't have any statistics to call up, but from experience working with people who have addictions -- the relapse rate is pretty high. Part of it is, imhao, that people do think the "makeover" is a cure all; that there's some magic fix and then oh, look what good we did.
Imhao, that's completely the wrong attitude and approach. Dealing with people with problems like that (and juvenile deliquents too I might add) means that you will be feeling the complete opposite of nice and good the majority of the time, and a success is when they can fly off on their own -- the consolation is that they finally got their lives straightened up enough that they do find their day in the sun, not you. It isn't about you and your feelings -- what they did to that man is criminal, because they used him for everybody else's feelings, everybody else's quick feel good fix, and not him.
