And today, along comes The Washington Post to answer the what-were-they-doing? question, as Eric Cantor's being replaced - not by a Tea Party candidate but Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.): 

"Longtime conservative activist L. Brent Bozell called several reporters late Tuesday to boast about the tea party’s stunning upset of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. When asked what he would do next, Bozell laughed and said he was going to have some more lasagna with the conservative operatives who happened to be dining at his house. 

Across the Potomac River in his first-floor suite at the Capitol, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) started making calls, too — but not to the press,... 

McCarthy’s easy ascent as unrest swirled around him underscores how the tea party, even with its strong pull in congressional primaries and ability to dictate the Republican agenda, remains a limited force in the insular and relationship-driven sphere of House Republican politics. Instapundit's Libertarian Motto Should Be Buyer Beware

David Frum's not that bright, but he got this much correct:

So what are our Tea Party strategists doing now? Cycling through novices? That will scare the SHIT out of the other side.

Cantor's big, no doubt about that, a millionaire. I read this new guy's got $40,000 in the bank. It reminds me that, in America, being financially disadvantaged isn't always what it seems - a good feature of the country. I'd suggest conservatives consider that, when they declare goals of the civil rights movement "impossible," like black reparations. Old orders will be toppled here.

But, like an American black kid's death, I don't see much happening from this. A politician of high rank (but not much consequence) got ousted in a state that's so conservative I don't know how they have children. The Teas are still 2014's John Birch Society, so - what?
