Nigga, Is You Crazy?

Not all blacks are open to religious instruction. But, they persist - and we still ain't buying.
In a new MSNBC article titled, Sharpton schools rappers who have been ‘seduced by Trump’, Rev. Al (who's looking like a Funeral Director these days) offers rappers these bars - which, sadly, do not even attempt to rhyme - in an effort to increase our meager civil rights education:

"Let’s go to the 1990s, when five Black and brown young men were falsely accused of raping a white woman in Central Park. It was Donald Trump that took out ads in the papers in New York saying they should get the death penalty. So if they want to cite how Blacks have been abused by the criminal justice system, cite the case where we marched and eventually it was proven these five young men — that Donald Trump called on to get the death penalty — was in fact innocent.

OK, so Al's asking us to remember all of that - which means also going back in time to his unfortunate "James Brown" period - as we're considering what he's telling us now, in his more recent, more slick MSNBC-friendly guise. Fine. Whatever. None of this is pleasant for anyone involved, but I try to do as I'm asked, for my people: I do miss that medallion, tho.

As a black man, known A) to rap now and then B) to clearly remember these events, and C) to have also been seduced by The Dark Side, I took Al's call personally, and as seriously as I could.

Which wasn't much. The Central Park Five is an old story, I've heard too many times before, and always from dubious "spiritual" types. People who make a big deal of their religious background, but who are always proven not to be tied too-tightly to reality, or morality, as I understand them. The Uber-Catholic Joe Biden is a perfect example of who'd bring it up. And a perfect example of no one correcting him, or maybe knowing how to correct him, even when he's 100% wrong. The media wasn't clamoring to do it, then or now. It's crazy-making.

Exhibit "B": When They See Us, the Netflix movie executive produced by Obama's 2013 Medal of Freedom winner, Oprah Winfrey, the queen of NewAge, AKA being totally "out there," so not above telling a racist fib or two or three on film.

The woman who promoted a guy who killed three people, before she "moved on."

"Moved on" to her Best Life, which included telling this lie, which was a doozy.

Because - unlike in another Netflix movie (Oprah didn't produce) where she's promoting a rapist,...

When They See Us has her promoting five convicted sex criminals, and - because of her - people have totally bought it. I mean, one of these guys has now entered politics. Evidence be damned. How do you like them apples?
Evidence? Go back to the phrase "falsely accused": Before the cops even knew the nature of crime they were dealing with, one of the boys, Raymond Santana (purple scarf, above) said, "I had nothing to do with the rape. All I did was feel the woman's (breasts)." And, as Ann Coulter noted, "All five boys confessed - four on videotape with adult relatives present and one with a parent present, but not on videotape." So no one "accused" anyone of anything: they gave themselves away. That's inescapable reality, not a movie. So why are the CP5 free?

Because of Matias Reyes, the serial rapist who should be known as the Central Park Sixth. He was one of the lead actors in the attack, but not part of the CP5's group of friends. In prison, the CP5 forced him to take the blame for everything that happened that night, a bullshit confession that wasn't hard for authorities to accept since A) Reyes was the only one who left clear DNA evidence, and B) it would make people like Al Sharpton tone it down about America being racist. Hell, New York even threw in some walking around money. Problem solved.

So now it's Trump is a racist - which is toning it down by severely limiting the parameters - but brings us back to another now-long-standing lie blacks still ain't buying, because we deal in an identifiable reality, and morality. Some of us, anyway. The blacks with long memories. Who, nowadays, ain't always most rappers.

But anyone old enough to probably not seek advice from an MSNBC Al.

Great Salon Photo: The Slime That Drive Whites Crazy

Not a respectable mind between them

Don't care too much about the article, but that composite photo  - of white's apocalyptically-conservative media inciters - got a "Ho, ho, ho!" when I saw it:

There they are.

And it captures them beautifully,...

Race Is A Construct: Can We TRY And Be Constructive?

"Even though America is soundly post-racial and racism is over because Barack Obama and Cheerios, it turns out that many white Americans still don't have any non-white friends. I find this odd, considering that white Americans typically cite their "black friend" as evidence of their inability to harbor racist beliefs. You guys just made him up, didn't you?"

An online friend (I think he's white) sent an Ann Coulter column defending Bill O'Reilly for this:
"The reason there is so much violence and chaos in the black precincts is the disintegration of the African-American family. Right now, about 73 percent of all black babies are born out of wedlock. That drives poverty. And the lack of involved fathers leads to young boys growing up resentful and unsupervised. And it has nothing to do with slavery. It has everything to do with you Hollywood people and you derelict parents."

Now, on it's face, I don't think the statement needs defending. It's fine. In one manner or another I've said it all myself, here, many times - minus the line, "it has nothing to do with slavery."

And let me add that, despite my disagreement, I would never stoop to playing "gotcha" with it, as conservatives have with Oprah Winfrey's assertion there were "millions" of blacks lynched.

Why? Because I'm an American, so I know what Oprah and Bill are trying to say, and why pick a silly fight (see: Obama offered dog as a child and Mitt unfortunately putting his dog carrier on the car) with my fellow countrymen over how they talk?

That's saved for Bawney Fwank.

I LIKE how Americans talk! It's wild, and wooly, and - when well observed - changes with the times. I'm not always looking for, or expecting, specificity.

I'm listening for an idea, and open to being surprised by style.

As much as I hate being put in the position of defending Oprah Winfrey - by my fellow conservatives, thankyouverymuch - the spectacle of all these whites, collectively (and apparently instinctually) deciding to hold a internet "teach-in" on lynching is both pathetic and ugly. (How much do you want to bet there are black people out there who are POSITIVE you're the experts?) I'm sure I haven't checked every column on the "phony" Oprah controversy but has anyone done anything but attack her about it?

Asked her to clarify or expand on her views?

I can hear some now, thinking "What's to clarify? She said 'millions'."
Oh, if it were only that simple. But, the issue's a fine place to show everybody two things:

1. Slavery's always with us. It's made us who we are.

2. That saying - "It's a black thang - you wouldn't understand" - was real shit. And, in every racial and social direction, we need to close these gaps.

Let me start by saying I don't obsess about race. Sure, I can get caught up in the tide, like when I found myself crying over O.J.'s potential suicide during the slow speed chase through Los Angeles. Or, like during this Trayvon Martin media fiasco, I can be drawn into seriously talking about race because, then, there's no escaping the overwhelming number of morons who demand to be heard after, I suppose, the Son Of Sam's dog said they're informed.

Really, left to my own devices, I don't have time for any of it and see it as an imposition on my life:

Yesterday I spent time with a black friend and his family. I cried because he has a genetic blood problem they found kinda late - he's really skinny - but, happily, they found it. After shooting the shit with him, I played with his grand daughter for an hour and went home. Today, there's a white guy in my kitchen making dinner, and cracking-the-fuck-up because he discovered I really like freshly cut watermelon. Funny story:

The first time I was invited to a white friend's home, his mother wasn't expecting me and exclaimed, "We're having watermelon for dinner!" After my friend apologized too quickly, they were pleasantly surprised by my reaction. I am now a part of their family.

Back to the crazy fucker in my kitchen:

He says "nigger" more than I do, and is an excellent source for hot Rap music, especially the dumbest of the dumb shit. I mean, if there's a bad idea recorded over a beat, the cracker in my kitchen probably has had it cranked to 11. He's also huge on the Velvet Underground, Hank Williams, Sr., and much, much more.

We've been friends for 25+ years and I love him.

So that's a racial sketch of my immediate world - and a bit of the past - Bill O'Reilly and Miss Ann can judge what follows by it.

How can blacks turn thousands lynched (including white people and others) into millions of themselves, exclusively? By adding those that "don't count". Ask yourself, how many blacks were strung up during the Middle Passage? Do they count? They do to black people. How about those thrown to the sharks? If rapes weren't well recorded, what makes anyone think all the deaths of defiant niggas - especially men who made the master feel small by comparison - were always duly noted? Black oral history says otherwise. Our country has dirty laundry. And, in spite of what some whites think, blacks aren't so far removed from it. Why would we be? Until the beating of Rodney King was recorded and aired, whites denied anything of the kind was occurring in major metropolitan areas in the modern era. How many of those have occurred, still occur, and are counted? My friends, this has always been the traumatic "real" history blacks are left alone - totally alone - to wrestle with.

"So many of us in limbo
How to get it on? It's quite simple
Three stones from the sun
We need a piece of this rock
Our goal - indestructible soul
Answers to this quizzing
To the Brothers in the street
Schools and the prisons
History shouldn't be a mystery
Our stories real history
Not his story
We gonna work it out one day
Till we all get paid
The right way in full, no bull
Talking, no walking, driving, arriving and stylin'
Tell 'em -- soon you'll see what I'm talking 'bout
Cause one day
The brothers gonna work it out
Brothers, brothers gonna work it out"

And if we think about it, even trying to get past slavery - no matter what color you are - has something to do with slavery. Just like the word "nigger" pops into the mind, whenever someone lamely says "the 'n' word," there's no escaping slavery's pull on our lives. We're Americans. I don't know why we try. We're the descendants of slavers and slaves. Are you ashamed? I'm not ashamed.

It's who we are:

No slavery, no major black presence in America.

No major black presence in America, no Civil War.

No Civil War, no Jim Crow.

No Jim Crow, no Civil Rights Movement.

No Civil Rights Movement, no black kids as targets for bombers.

No black kids as targets for bombers, no black kids recognizing their utter worthlessness and going to jail for the movement.

No black kids recognizing their utter worthlessness and going to jail for the movement, no black kids considering jail a finishing school.

No black kids considering jail a finishing school, no current disregard for the law or life or what anyone else thinks.

Hello, Trayvon.

Capish?

You'll notice, I never once mentioned missing fathers.

And BTW - Whites want to carry that around for a while? It's heavy shit.

An amazing fact of American culture, a gift from our industrious Founding Fathers themselves, is our contradictory ability - and drive - to make something out of nothing. My country has more cults than any other nation on Earth because, Good Lord, when it comes to us, it doesn't take much. Race seems to generate a lot of heat, but not much light.

That's Hell, isn't it?

Yes, it is. And it's burning up our creativity, and national purpose, to repeatedly twist us into new and interesting - but useless - tools. Good for nothing, and nothing for Good. What's the point of being "white" or "black" if, in the end, everybody's still wrong - and proud of it?

I'm an American. I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't have a "side". I see family members with race-based PTSD. And because nobody's addressing that, they're allowed to go 'round and 'round and 'round with it, baring their teeth and scratching the orderlies.

I provide the music:

Earth, Wind & (In The) Fire: That's The Way Of The World

The ritual beatings continue, and now Ann Coulter's getting in on the act:
“We don't need to jettison our principles; we just need to stop screwing up."
Impossible, Annie. American politics is a popularity contest, like high school. Ideas and principles don't matter. The quarterbacks and prom queens have everything locked up - despite being committed to nothing, knowing little about doing so (or those who do) and almost always being wrong - while those who've studied, to give us an accurate portrait, catch Hell and/or endure being ignored.

I was told, before we lost the last election, they're "fine" with losing.

They have each other, and I'm alone, left to ponder the worth of being right.

And my life, now that I've been pushed away from their nonsense?

It's a day at the beach,...

All Together Now

Isn't it wild, how understanding everyone is, when you're on the same side?
In his novel Empire of Lies, the very wise and extraordinarily attractive author has one of his characters declare that, “In an empire of lies, only a crazy man would speak the truth.” The character then goes on to explain that the empire can then destroy the crazy man, not for the truth he speaks, but for doing the crazy things that crazy people do.
Ann and Rush, Sean and Glenn aren’t crazy, but the sort of person willing to hurl himself against the vast machinery of the left-wing information empire is not likely to be all that concerned about decorum. This puts a weapon of slander in the hands of the left-wing media and they use it effectively to demonize these truth-tellers and stopper the ears of those who might hear them and be convinced.
It’s easy to be calm and polite when you have the power to destroy the reputations of your enemies — it’s a lot tougher for the rebel brave enough to fight back.
Yeah, those brave Right-wing rebels - they've really got it tough,...

Republicans: Untangling This Big Ball Of Yarn And Wire

Obama's victory is a harsh lesson for Republicans, says The Los Angeles Times. Conservatives lambast Romney, vow to take over Republican Party, says The Hill's Ballot Box. And one of the few successful atheists in American politics takes a hit when Conservatives turn on Karl Rove.

Yes, feast - feast children of the night - drink each other's blood until fresh is needed!

Ann Coulter is still screaming DON'T BLAME ROMNEY in The Case of the Missing White Voters - that's convenient because I want to keep blaming her. For that, and the fact she won't just kill herself now like a normal person would. (I kid - harshly, oh yeah, but I kid.) And let's not forget the funniest of the bunch, Donald Trump's friends and staff explain what the reality star was thinking.

They could've put "thinking" in quotes and it wouldn't have made a lick o' difference,…

I Thought Eating Your Own Kind Was A Liberal Thing,...

Ha-ha! Poor Patterico finds himself in the position of calling off the rabid dogs in defense of reporter Jan Crawford:
I saw a lot of vitriol yesterday headed Jan’s way that seemed to ignore the history of fairness that I documented above. If I were Jan, I’m not sure I would want to speak out in such an environment.

Weird how that works - and it seems pretty strange to me these supposedly-upstanding conservative types (more than I am anyway) didn't know to behave fairly anyway. Perish the thought that - behind that, oh so civilized, wine-and-cheese party facade - they're just Ann Coulter's "mob" themselves, right? Well, as the old saying goes, "actions speak louder than words," and these fools were shooting first - and not bothering with questions at-all.

I swear, leave it for an election to get the conservative blogosphere publicly fouling itself and revealing (what may be) it's true nature after all. My take:

These people had better straighten up, and get their heads on right, because - if I'm already looking at them askance - their chances of winning over others (who are more like me than them) is just about zilch. And I'm not going to keep doing it forever,...

Is This An Alien? Or Is It Not An Alien? You're An Alien. At Least You Are To Me: Talkin' U.F.O.

I couldn't be a believer, because I live in the real world, and know there's a real world - one that regularly bounces back at me - whether I like it or not. For instance, a point I made about Democrats in my post to Chauncey DeVegas is also being made in Ann Coulter's new book:
"Just as fire seeks oxygen, Democrats seek power, which is why they will always be found championing the mob whether the mob consists of Democrats lynching blacks or Democrats slandering the critics of ObamaCare as racists."
Nazis. What's to like? Coulter's book is called Demonic and it'll be out on Tuesday. I'm here, even when I'm away from it, practically every day.

It's Nice To See Ann Coulter In A Proper Forum

Notice how people are being told they're wrong and nobody's getting real upset and shit? Greg Gutfeld even says they'll go out for a beer afterwards, as it should be. Notice there aren't any liberals at the table - and that's why it can be that way?

We did.

Say It Loud: We're Right And We're Proud!!!

We're glad to see this piece from Pajamas Media because, while our boy Macho Sauce has already been over-exposed (unfunny, and becoming tedious) in just one or two outings, Andrew Klaven hits just the right tone here, making us laugh and think at the same time - and wanting to see more. Considering how God-awful most of PajamasTV's offerings are, we hope he can keep it going:

This time they've got it right, so, please, don't "shut up".

“Just Being Named 'Gavin Newsom' Should Be Grounds For Dismissal”

Clowns Gavin Newsome and Nancy Pelosi are still working while Rick Wagoner of GM was fired. Ann Coulter is wondering why:

"How about hauling San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom before a congressional committee and firing him? In fact, just being named 'Gavin Newsom' should be grounds for dismissal. San Francisco is getting $18 million of stimulus money -- to say nothing of its residents who receive federal money in the form of Social Security payments, government grants, welfare payments, federal highway funds and on and on and on."

Obamatown: Tough Place To Be Honest

I occasionally like to poke around Salon.com for a healing dose of tolerance, inclusion and progressive enlightenment whenever my heathen conservative predilections get the better of me. Imagine my shock when browsing through some reader comments when I saw the sort of lowbrow discourse usually reserved for people who couldn’t get into Swarthmore or Brown and never drove a Saab: “go fuck yourself;” “you’re so full of shit;” “shut up idiot;” “get a fucking clue;” “screwball… crank;” “bitch;” “whore;” and the never encouraging, “cunt.”

What was happening here? A good-n-proper reaction to the obligatorily reviled Ann Coulter? Did Sarah Palin say something unacceptably state-schooly on TV again? Did an enemy trollette deposit some right-wing talking point in an otherwise high-minded and compassionate Salon discussion thread?  Alas, something much more catastrophic had occurred: one of the flock strayed and had to be punished.

Spunky feminist and noted Obama enthusiast Camille Paglia dared speak ill of the first seven weeks of the Obama Presidency in her most recent monthly column, and Salon’s intellectual backwash devoted readership would not stand for it. So just what did Ms. Paglia say to force these rabid jackals to cannibalize one of their own? Ironically, nothing critical about Obama himself, rather, she criticized “his flacks, fixers and goons — his posse of smirky smart alecks and provincial rubes” who led The Chosen One astray. In fact, she bent herself into a yoganidrasana to avoid criticizing Obama, “in whom [she] still [has] great hope and confidence.”

However, it seems that even critiquing the lackeys, yes-men, tax cheats, polished turds and fellow Ivy League Affirmative Action admits who now infest the White House Best and the Brightest Part II is enough to mobilize the Hope/Change Musketeers into battle since it’s an admission that all is not rainbows, sunflowers and waterfalls in Obamatown…

-- Riley Hunter, describing the liberal backstabbing TMR knows all-too-well (and loves to respond in-kind to) as opposed to the NewAge image of "rainbows, sunflowers and waterfalls" they try to project, like they're working in Big Hollywood.
