Sticking Her Nose (Job) Where It Doesn't Belong

This is great - one of my favorite NewAgers in the music biz, Lady Gaga, flipped out on the New Music Express about her latest song, Born This Way, which a lot of people happen to think sounds a lot like our other favorite NewAger in the music biz, Madonna. The Amplifier blog called GaGa's outburst "her very own version of the Five Stages of Grief!" except they added one stage I've never heard before:

(Or, in this case, attempting to change reality?) They need to try a new schtick, if you ask me, because their own feelings ain't cutting it. News to GaGa:

A Staten Island belly dancer jiggled her way out of a sweet deal with her ex-husband after he found pictures of her shaking it on the Internet, a judge ruled last week.

Dorothy McGurk won a settlement of $850 a month for life and the couple's home by convincing a court three years ago that a 1997 car accident left her too injured to work.

The payday ended when Brian McGurk went back to court after spotting a blog where his ex-wife boasted of cutting a rug and dancing "everyday for three years."

"My belly dancing is the reason why I adore myself so much," McGurk, 43, posted on the blog, including photos of herself grooving at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, a new age gallery in Chelsea.

"Today I decided to dedicate myself more to my dance," she wrote. "Even though I dance everyday, it's not enough. It won't be enough until I dance for you all, until you feel my euphoria.

"Today as I danced myself silly, I lifted my head and elongated my neck as I swirled around," she wrote in another post. "And then it happened, I got really, really high."

Thomas Kyle, a lawyer for Brian McGurk, said the blog posts convinced Richmond County Supreme Court Judge Catherine DiDomenico the dancer was fit enough to fend for herself.

"She told outright lies," Kyle said. "If she could blog for hours, if she could dance the day away in Manhattan, then how is it she couldn't hold down a job?"

In one Facebook entry, a friend asked Dorothy McGurk why she had not posted photos of herself from a recent belly-dancing performance.

"Gotta be careful what goes on line pookies," she answered. "The ex would love to fry me with that."

Confronted with the damning evidence, Dorothy McGurk told the court she was prescribed belly dancing as treatment for her injuries - a statement her doctor contradicted on the stand.

DiDomenico stripped McGurk of her settlement last week and ordered her to pay her ex-husband $5,000 plus interest for lawyer's fees.

McGurk was also told to move out of the couple's house, and her ex-husband was awarded 60% of its value because she "worked only two years of this 11-year marriage," the judge wrote in her decision.

"The court credits husband's testimony that wife slept all day or otherwise spent her day on the computer participating in Internet blogs," the judge wrote.

Dorothy McGurk, who testified she is a trained Reikki spiritual healer and can "channel God's light to facilitate healing," could not be reached for comment. Her ex, a U.S. Post Office mail carrier, also could not be reached.

"He's just happy that this is all over and he can move on," his lawyer said.

This Is The Stupidest Dance Ever Invented

Obama is another jackass who can't quite grasp that, while we're listening to him, we're not taking him seriously:

Part of the problem is that the American distrust of intellectualism is itself not the irrational thing that those sympathetic to intellectuals would like to think. Intellectuals killed by the millions in the 20th century, and it actually takes the sophisticated training of "education" to work yourself up into a state where you refuse to count that in the books. Intellectuals routinely declared things that aren't true; catastrophically wrong predictions about the economy, catastrophically wrong pronouncements about foreign policy, and just generally numerous times where they've been wrong. Again, it takes a lot of training to ignore this fact. "Scientists" collectively were witnessed by the public flipflopping at a relatively high frequency on numerous topics; how many times did eggs go back and forth between being deadly and beneficial? Sure the media gets some blame here but the scientists played into it, each time confidently pronouncing that this time they had it for sure and it is imperative that everyone live the way they are saying (until tomorrow). Scientists have failed to resist politicization across the board, and the standards of what constitutes science continues to shift from a living, vibrant, thoughtful understanding of the purposes and ways of science to a scelerotic hide-bound form-over-substance version of science where papers are too often written to either explicitly attract grants or to confirm someone's political beliefs... and regardless of whether this is 2% or 80% of the papers written today it's nearly 100% of the papers that people hear about.

I simplify for rhetorical effect; my point is not that this is a literal description of the current state of the world but that it is far more true than it should be. Any accounting of "anti-intellectualism" that fails to take this into account and lays all the blame on "Americans" is too incomplete to formulate an action plan that will have any chance of success. It's not a one-sided problem.

If you want to fix anti-intellectualism, you first need to fix intellectualism and return it to its roots of dispassionate exploration, commitment to truth over all else and bending processes to find truth rather than bending truth to fit (politicized) processes, and return to great, foundational humility that even the press could not overplay into hubris. And they need to drop their blinders whereby they excuse away the damage that intellectuals have done while ignoring these ancient precepts and only crediting themselves their successes, because it cuts themselves off from the very object lessons that could help them return to this time-tested approach to science, which they still flatter themselves that they follow. If you fail to fix the intellectuals first, then all your effort to fix "Americans" is going to fail; you'll bend your efforts towards getting them to look at intellectuals seriously, but they'll end up coming to the same conclusions they already have about the value of intellectuals and you'll have wasted your shot.

I'm not holding my breath.

And why should we? Especially now that we stupid folks - the real Americans - are getting the upper hand? Remember when I used to speak of the opposition and Alice In Wonderland, back in the New Dark Ages, and I told you they're nothing but a deck of cards? Well now we've fully arrived, and can see through their lies, so all they've got left is to flail. Or I should say, all the Left has is to flail.

It's weird how NewAgers are always saying, if I would just do as they tell me, I would be able to get rid of my ego and be a nicer person (like I'd want that) but those same NewAgers don't blink an eye when the daytime TV Queen of NewAge, Oprah Winfrey, reportedly has a problem controlling her "ego and hubris".

The great holy men of India are supposed to have conquered this problem as well, but there's just one little problem:
